It's gotten cooler here too. Sometimes the drumming of the rain on the corrugated roofing is so intense that makes me wonder if it's hail.
Far from freezing, though.

@tchrist That's why I live on the 35th parallel (more or less). Today was our coldest day since maybe February, and it got to 45 with no snow. Got rained on while riding yesterday, though.
Still, it feels cold as a Republican's heart right now.
Says 55, but no way it got that high.
Still, May is looking pretty sweet.

@M.A.R. Well you learn something new every day I guess. Regardless of that, the reward message remains unexplained, except maybe it's referencing the exposure questions get from being featured.

@Tonepoet Yes, that's how I always read it. You offer the bounty as a way to get more attention to the question and its answers. While you can only award the bounty to a single answer, it can also serve to highlight all of them for a while.

According to smart-words.org/quotes-sayings/idioms-meaning.html "Give the benefit of the doubt" means "Believe someone's statement, without proof."
Do you guys agree with that definition? I am not a native speaker and I always thought it means something else

3:11 PM
@yasar Seems ok.
What did you think it meant?

I thought it means "Dont't reject idea without giving it enough thought"

I suppose I can see where that could play into it.
But I think the version you cited is better.

temporarily accept idea, before further justification

@Færd no not really. It's a quote from a song, which is taking poetic license with things
it's more using the word fact for 'what someone claims as fact'
