Well, my mother is Jewish (which is technically a requirement to be Jewish--its matrilineal), but I wasn't given a Hebrew name at birth

I have a Japanese middle name

Which also means happiness

So, when I was going for my Bat Mitzvah, I chose my own Hebrew name

I wouldn't have been able to choose it if I'd been given one at birth; it made sense for me to have one since I was entering the adult Jewish world following my Bat Mitzvah

I have no special attraction to any animals. I still take meat, but sometimes I feel like becoming vegetarian as animals feel pain too.
