15:24
OMGOMGOMG
Squee!
Of course after that the board is in terrible disorder.
@RegDwigнt Wow! You win.
@RegDwigнt OMG a freak number!
What's tile saying?
It's over 384!
@Cerberus No, I lose.
There must be something wrong with your computer.
WTF!!
But I'll take the 20145.
Whose score is that?
It's still the same game, you funny.
jaw drops
15:29
w00t!! Nice one, @Reg.
So what was your record when I scored OVER 9000? Lower?
This guy has a 22782.
Plus a strategy remarkably similar to mine.
However, he's a cheator.
Let me at least have a temporary victory...
Turns out, on iPad you can preview moves.
I can't do that here.
OMG.
That would make it 1000 % easier.
15:30
Yeah.
@KitFox thank you.
I often can't risk moving my baseline away from the edge.
For fear that my 384 might end up away from the edge, like...in the centre. shivers
Yup.
In this game, I kept it in the corner came hell or high water.
Don't you feel you're sometimes forced to risk the corner?
There's still a luck factor involved, of course.
Absolutely.
15:32
@Cerberus yes, that's part of what I mean by luck.
Sometimes the only non-immediately-losing move is away from the corner. Everything else is your last move.
@RegDwigнt By the way, this proves it: Ipad is less intelligent than PC.
Exactly.
@Cerberus You needed a proof for that?
I didn't need it, but it was still nice!
It's like...some 96 in a different corner that you didn't see coming.
Are you suffering from the Tetris effect yet?

@MattЭллен simulator *
yeah... but... jokes?
@Cerberus no! Quite surprisingly.
I thought I would dream of the game, but I didn't.
And I played till like four in the morning.
15:45
My boys want to play it.
Which was nonsense, of course. My worst game this morning was still better than my best game yesterday.
You do have to have a fresh head.
I said "NO! You has to do maths for game! NOT FOR CHILLUNS!"
Alas, I couldn't stop.
Is there a particular method of reporting a user who has gone rogue and change his username to something vulgar after leaving repeated cursing comments directed toward SE in general? (Other than reporting an answer/question and entering a custom "Moderator Attention" answer)
@KitFox no child left ahead!
15:46
Right.
@TylerH That's pretty much the method.
@TylerH yeah what Kit says.
Flagging.
Or find a mod in chat and bring it up.
Flag for mod attention and use the "custom" field to explain what the problem is.-
15:47
Is this on our site?
Or find two mods in chat and bring it up.
Yes. Should I link it here?
But that involves linking, which is not always advisable.
Flags are behind-the-scenes.
So do as you wish at your own discretion.
it is a certain metonym question
K lemme see.
15:48
I'm assuming moderators can see deleted comments
I found it and changed the username.
thanks
@KitFox Oh I see.
By which I mean, I couldn't see it.
Crud. Let me get a CM.
So I went to the metonyms tag, and thought it was this one:
15:48
bbl
ouch
that name
Yeah.
I think he's been around forever, though.
@RegDwigнt I actually went through a dip where I was clicking tiles at random and getting 170, and then by 4 AM my head cleared up and I got my record, I think.
He hasn't come far, to boot.
15:49
Has to be a joke.
76 points in three years.
@Cerberus of course. Unless it is not.
@Cerberus yeah, that. Except my dip was at 109.
109! Try and match that.
I don't always profess things, but when I do I do it in English.
Haha, Matt ruined the joke by misspelling the misspelling.
Speaking of which, how many hundreds of votes is that joke answer at yet?
162. Geezis.
wich?
Which*
You can press the up arrow to edit your stuff here.
That being said, the water question.
I am not linking to it, of course.
Don't want to get it even moar stray views.
15:53
Ah thanks re: edit
I think our highest answer is at 332 right now.
My highest is 100 below that.
And it took them four years to get there, not two days.
The wonders of the MultiCollider.
@RegDwigнt is a joke ruiner extrodinaire
I just got a score of 142. I don't understand that three game.
Stop hogging my time, Matt's game!
@TylerH The first couple of games, it seems pointless and random. But then...
20 hours ago, by RegDwigнt
1. You can only add a one to a two. 2. You can only add any other number to the same number.
15:57
Maybe I figured it out
I just scored 421
That's not bad at all for a second try.
In fact that's not bad at all, period.
Didn't know those rules though
I was just trying to combine things into multiples of 3
That's the goal!
Nice
I deleted a few of your comments., @Tyler. Just wanted to let you know.
16:02
Still haven't quite figured out how it determines which lines move. Maybe it's all possible lines that have a move that also don't have any illegal moves.
They were fine, but I felt I should just remove all fire-making materials.
I saw, KitFox. I figured that would be best ultimately. I didn't delete them on my own due to not wanting to leave the other guy's comments without context.
@TylerH all lines move all at once. If there are four tiles in a line, it does not move, but an addition is tried to be executed.
20 hours ago, by RegDwigнt
So a 3 3 3 3, moved <- will become a 6 3 3 _.
20 hours ago, by RegDwigнt
But if it's a 3 6 12 6, you cannot move it in either direction. It's blocked.
I see. It will only add when there are four tiles in a line
@TylerH Thanks for the heads up.
16:05
and it can only add like numbers, as you mentioned earlier
@KitFox no problem
egads this game is going to be a huge timesink D-:
@TylerH not quite, it will add whenever a move would otherwise kick a tile off the board.
So a 3 3 3 3, moved to the left, will become a 6 3 3 _, but a 3 3 _ _ moved to the left will still be added to a 6 _ _ _ .
ahh
However, moved to the right it will become a _ 3 3 _ .
And moved twice more, it will be a _ _ _ 6.
OK, the food smells are making me nuts. Must have lunch. bbl
Actually very soon you develop an instinctive understanding of which tiles will move how.
16:11
Sweet, I just got 1031!
Congrats.
I guess the '96' tile counts a lot?
How is it scored?
I am not sure if this clone keeps the system of the original:
That screenshot quite effectively crushed my high spirits
Each layer gets three times the points of the last. With ones and twos not counting at all.
@TylerH nah. I almost got there earlier today, and I've been playing for just a day and a half.

Of course for a 768 you need both a strategy and some luck.
Just one out of two won't suffice.
16:17
Yeah, I had to think hard to get a 96 tile
Can't imagine a 768 quite yet :-X
It's just three steps more. :P
Only three.
I need to install this on my phone.
I could have sworn I read a review of this game on Android Police a while ago, but I can't find it.
That guy's blog read as if it only was released a couple weeks ago.
omg this kung pao is great.
om nom nom
-_-
Still 35 minutes yet until I can go to lunch.
16:24
I'll share.
I can't understand places that don't let you eat when you're hungry.
That's why I got this high-paying gig, so I can eat when I want to.
what gig?
My real life job.
and I mean, I guess I could go eat now, but I'd rather wait until noon, otherwise I'll be hungry before 5
obviously :-P
16:27
@KitFox I only eat if somebody tells me to. I'm so hungry.
Go eat.
Mitch is a computer program
@Mitch Don't go eat. Just eat.
Oh...thank you!
Eat more faster.
16:28
OK. eating more
Unhungry yet?
No but feel better.
feel butter?
no, it gets mushy all over my fingers. I suppose I could use a knife, but that's gauche.
Reminds me of Last Tango in Paris.
Unfortunately.
16:31
eww...
Did you ever go hunting for marshmellows? It's a tricky job.
It's a very tricky job.
You got to have stealth like a camel.
like a torpid camel?
Torpid or not torpid, that's the question.
Ich kampf torpidig.
I feel very torpid
16:44
Ich laufe torpidig.
Find some marshmellows, that'll take care of it.
Ich esse marshmellower torpidig.
OK then, you're all set.
Cool grass blowing up the pass
Don't you know I'm feeling marshmellow
I love your Roman nose, the way you curl your toes baby
Make me feel so marshmellow
Or rather Matt should iss just like you.
I'll not iss at all, if I can help it
I've alerted the authorities
be do be do be do
Wow, that is OVER 900.
Thought that was 999 over there.
16:55
it is
I've alerted your authorities
the fire brigade will be at your door soon
In Russia, it's 01.
Be thankful you haven't alerted their authorities just yet.
Ach, in Mother Russia, authorities alert you.
Then you pay.
poddle tip
Commute!

17:26
Wow, I got a star for something not funny at all...
I hope my browser doesn't freeze again. I have had to restart the computer three times manually which caused it to be unbootable, so I reinstalled three times in the last few weeks.
This is the pain of using Linux. They claim that it is better than Windows, but Windows is still the best methinks.
18:06
are you running a native browser?
or something through an emulator like wine?
@JasperLoy
18:32
Yay, a score of 2354! I managed to get a 192 tile this time
I really wish there were an undo button
at least for one move
18:48
Hey congrats.
@RegDwigнt so what's the strategy, do try to get one high tile, then work on getting another of equal value? Or to work on getting two at the same time?
19:19
@Mitch I seem to do okay in trying to get a couple tiles highish simultaneously.
19:33
How would you call or define a sport with a set of judges giving more or less qualitative notes? (e.g. ice skating, surf, ..)
"sport with judge-deliberation ranking"
"sport with judge ranking system"
I'd use some different language and just say it is a game judged by a panel of experts or officials.
The ISU Judging System (also called Code of Points (CoP) or the International Judging System (IJS)), is the scoring system currently used to judge the figure skating disciplines of men's and ladies' singles, pair skating, ice dancing, and synchronized skating. It was designed and implemented by the International Skating Union (ISU), the ruling body of the sport. This system of scoring is used in all international competitions sanctioned by the ISU, including the Olympic Games. The ISU Judging System replaced the previous 6.0 system in 2004. This new system was created in response to the ...
yes I was on this page
a sport with a 'judging system' is fine, yes thanks TylerH too
I try to avoid the word "system", sounds like "black-box" to me :), but in this case, it's one
19:42
you can't beat "the system"
in these types of sports
@Mitch one at a time. And put it in a corner, and don't move it out of there.

is this a flat rubik's cube?
not really
how can a cube be flat?
the new piece is random
a third dimension = 0?
20:26
I'm better at it than I am at a rubik's cube, but that's not saying much
all primes!
I wonder if you can get 2357
I don't have the patience to think about where my next thingie will go.
good thing you added that 'next' modifier
otherwise I would've said "phrasing"
@aediaλ Reg's advice it to try to make the biggest number you can, one step at a time, in a corner
20:32
My impatience always seems to let it get out of the corner somehow.
mine too :D
And then I get mad at all the sixes and threes that won't go together.
I really enjoy combining the numbers though. It feels like squishing them into one number.
it is satisfying
Maybe just one more try while I drink this coffee...
yeah! what harm can it do?
20:34
hehe
all the number in the wrong places!
Aww. I hate when you have the 1 stuck between the big numbers
I guess it's no worse than the two since they can't be combined with anything else, but it feels more hopeless.
Damn. 3533
Was hoping I'd at least get to 5000
