9:00 PM
@M.A.R. And apostasy is punishable by death.

What I'm saying is it's very vulnerable to attack.
@Robusto exactly, so when you doubt your indoctrination you can't turn to anyone
If there's a single doubter yelling things in a busy neighborhood, people would be shaken.

@M.A.R. Why MAR why. Let's make it popular. Install it.

And that's what's happened, is what I'm saying. There's no stopping it.

Wagner boss is busy devising excuses for his failures.
Also busy in front of camera.

@Cerberus yep. Some seem even less faithful; there's no source of pride in empty titles such as being a commander of an imperial army, or being of 'noble heritage', that sort of thing. There's no source for 'foolish bravery' when push comes to shove.
Of course, some are still sort of crazy. I assume there are some.
We'd only know about them if they're killed in drone strikes while negotiating with Taliban or somesuch
@Vikas I'm assuming there are valid complaints about it from people who think upgrading from Win 10 was not worth it
@Vikas that's what these guys have been doing since a few months ago

9:12 PM
@M.A.R. Makes sense.
@Vikas Oh, interesting.
@M.A.R. Not even 'the revolution', the religious ideas behind it?

9:32 PM
@M.A.R. If a Muslim skips on this daily package, it's a great sin? Can one make do with a 10-minute package?
@Vikas To give him his due, he gets very close to the frontline.
Hundreds of meters from the battle area.
A brave criminal.
According to Twitter feeds, the Wagner seems to be making some gains.

Hmm.
At Bakhmut?

@CowperKettle well the praying has a ritual that takes 5 minutes if you're really fast and 15 if you're slow. There's five of them. And they're a must, yes. There's hadith that says nothing else matters if you don't say the daily prayers
@Cerberus don't think so. They don't seem to believe in anything much, and yeah, they've changed since 40 years ago, it's the same people

> The Kremlin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told guests at a private party in Moscow that Russia's war will last for a "very, very long time," the Guardian reported on March 28.

@M.A.R. They have changed, even though they are the same people?

9:43 PM
@CowperKettle a neverending war is a very important bullet point in the 1984 checklist

Pro-Russian "military reporters" are writing that the Ukr side seems to be preparing to cross the Dnieper. Accumulating forces, pontoons, all machinery needed to cross the river and establish a bridgehead.

@Cerberus I mean it's the same extremists that backed the revolution and paid with blood, but now they're rich old farts with little else in their minds but their immeasurable wealth

But this is in contrast with Zelensky's recent statement that there's not enough artillery rounds and equipment for a spring offensive. So who knows.

Ah, OK.

@M.A.R. In a long war, I don't see how it's possible to keep allowing Russians to leave the country.

9:45 PM
@CowperKettle Oh, did he really say that? I must have missed it.

I've been amazed at this for months. People are still allowed to leave Russia.
@Cerberus Yes, several days ago

@CowperKettle I've been skeptical about the argument that this is how authoritarian regimes get rid of dissenters, so I'm the wrong person to ask

I wonder why I haven't seen this on any of the newspaper sites I read.
Of course I believe you.
@CowperKettle It could be a ruse as well?
Where are they supposed to cross the Dnieper?
Near Cherson?

Yes, could be just a ruse
I don't read much into this, only headlines :)
I read deeper into NRF2

What is that?

Ah.

> Activation of Nrf2 has antidepressant effect, but the specific mechanism remains to be elucidated. This article reviews the key role of Nrf2 in depression, focusing on the possible mechanisms of Nrf2 regulating oxidative stress and related pathological processes in depression treatment.
Quite interesting.
In stress-resistant mice, the NRF2 signaling is stronger.
Sulforaphane (from broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage etc.) activates NRF2, dampens inflammation, and may decrease depression (preliminary studies)
But can also increase cancer cell growth.
So depression might be protective against cancer (?)

10:22 PM
Huh.
> Epidemiological evidence suggests that consumption of broccoli is inversely associated with risk of cancer development at various sites
