About Insta stories, the way I get it, if you worry too much about what you put out there, you're missing the point. For me its for making passing remarks, like most messages I post here. But different people use it for different things.
At the moment, I have upwards of 40 stories in my feed and I will only view a few of them selectively.
Mostly closer friends, more interesting people, organizations whose announcements I want to know, etc, and that adds up to no more than several. My dumb story today has had 150 views so far, and only one person left a reply which is one too many.
