Q: What would be a term to refer to someone on the receiving end of an investment?

JBeazerIf someone is investing money in a person's idea or business idea, they can be referred to as an "investor." Someone on the receiving end of this investment is sometimes referred to as an "investee." Is there a more colloquial or interesting term to refer to the investee? I'd like to find a bet...

hi
is it correct to say these?
have a perspective based on sth
have a perspective through sth

12:44 PM
yes
But context is everything.

12:55 PM
what do you mean?
i see.
look, the text, is about energy. the sentence is : This work has a unique perspective based on the wind farm participation, through inertia comtrol

OK. But what is it supposed to mean? Does the work have a perspective on wind farms? Does it have a perspective on something else because of its participation in wind farms? Does the work have the perspective, or is it offering it?
Sounds like it might be a good question for English Language Learners.

is it right to say, control sth to an extent?

Again, it depends on context. You can say that Mary controls her impulses to a certain extent.

then that is right here too
tnx

Q: "I have a question but it's off-topic, but come on it's totally ELU, really where else could I ask?"

MitchELU attracts a number of kinds of questions that, while superficially ELU material, just don't fit for one reason or another. I propose a set of recommendations that we can give to question askers as to where to go to get their questions answered better, all in the hopes of helping people kindly...

For a 'resource' request style meta question, the answers there are getting a lot of down votes and few upvotes (and a lot of down votes on the Q itself, and also some weird answers).
Any suggestions as to what is wrong? What can be improved? Is the concept problematic?

what does it mean when they say something is 'german' ?

@parvin Usually it means having to do with Germany... there's an archaic sense meaning "(of a sibling) having the same parents."

2:27 PM
@parvin What is the context?

Q: Is there a word for "sticking up at an angle"?

jhockingThere's the word perpendicular when sticking straight up, but is there a word for "sticking up at an angle"? I mean, it's not particularly hard to just say "sticking up at an angle" but I wondered about this when someone just described something as "perpendicular-ish"

Q: Word or phrase for people who spend a long time in each others company

NeilI'm looking for a word or phrase to describe two people who would have spent long periods of time together, to the point where they know each other's idiosyncrasies, would have many in-jokes, finish each other's sentences etc.
