@DylanWilson this stuff is mysterious indeed. in my younger and more foolish days I had hopes to use this somehow to get at the "infinite prime" stuff in homotopy theory -- the Thom spectra on Omega^2 S^3 interpolate the HF_p's across different primes, and so I'd hoped that there was some way to bootstrap that up to interpolating information in the Adams SS or ANSS across primes
