I would expect the mods to be most qualified to answer the question: Is there a software solution if we do cut the cord from SE? After all, they have been running MathOverflow outside of the network in some way. (Although from what I understood it was an older version of the Stack Exchange software.)
A few days have gone by, the question earned enough upvotes to earn Willie Wong a good question badge - but so far no response from the moderators.

I thought about checking on the old tea whether some details about the software weren't mentioned there. (IIRC there were also some discussions on tea before joining of the Stack Exchange network, where something could have been mentioned.) But tea seems to be down.
