@Catija A short comment about that branding thing - if you look at mobile site, it contains Stack Exchange logo with the title on the site. So both something identifying network and something identifying site is displayed there.

@FedericoPoloni Maybe I should clarify that I do not want to pressure you by any means into posting on Meta Stack Exchange. Just since I saw that it was close to six months, I thought that posting any question which is likely to be positively received might be a way to get out of the question ban. (And this would also be the test whether the "6 months" thing mentioned in the help center actually works.)
Regarding the feature request with proxies, you're most likely right that it would be more work than the benefit it would actually bring. Looking at the data I've tried to collect in the answer to your question, I'd think creating a warning could be a better way to go - and this is already implemented.
Definitely this problem concerns only a few posts.

@S.Carnahan Thanks once again for editing the help center and FAQ - as I've mentioned I was a bit surprised how quick it was handled. So far nobody objected - so I assume that users who looked at the meta thread are ok with that change.
Since there is already some editing the on-topic part of help-center, I'll mention that I have also noticed this post by Federico Poloni: Reword “What topics can I ask about here?”
Again, the same formulation is used also in the FAQ on meta: What kind of questions can I ask here?
The post is relatively old - you can see that quid answered the question. (I have noticed it simply because it was shown in the sidebar among related questions when I looked at my recent post.) The question is at +10 and the answer at +12 at the moment.
What would be an appropriate way to revive that old thread? (Maybe we should ping also Federico Poloni about this - but I wanted to find out first whether the moderators would even consider looking into this change.)
