@FedericoPoloni Since you are active on both sites, you are probably the right person to judge whether this question should be migrated to academia: Distinguish starting journals from predatory ones.

Q: Distinguish starting journals from predatory ones

Jose BroxAs you know, there are journals -predatory journals- which are just publishing scams, without actual peer review, etc. but look like genuine ones, and it is a problem for the honest researcher to avoid them. Until recently there was a free blacklist, Jerry Beall's (which had flaws), and now there...

I have mentioned it in the academia chatroom - maybe that might also help to attract some attention to the question.

BTW the above question is also in the network-wide HNQ list.

Q: Why can’t you use cyclotomic polynomials to factor big numbers really quickly?

Robin HoustonTwo simple remarks: The polynomial $x^k-1$ can be factorised over the integers as a product of (irreducible) cyclotomic polynomials: $$x^k-1 = \prod_{d|k}\Phi_d(x).$$ If we choose $k$ to be a number that has a lot of divisors, then $x^k-1$ will have a lot of factors. For example, if $k$ is a pr...

@MartinSleziak Yes, it would be a good candidate for migration. I have flagged it for moderator attention (since we cannot vote to migrate it ourselves).

Thanks for the response!
Yes, I am aware that there are only a few migration paths on MO and Academia is not one of them.
I thought that it is better if somebody familiar with Academia site looks at the question - whether it should be migrated or not. We will see - not it is up to the moderators.

AFAIK migration is the only situation in which it's possible give two upvotes to the same post :-)
I did not notice this before. If I look at the timeline/revisions on MO, I can see the name of the mod who migrated the question. But I do not see this information on the target site.
