Q: Is there a penalty for merely looking at a question, comments and an answer?

Thomas BenjaminRecently I have lost 2 reputation points for merely looking at a question, comments and an answer (1 point for reading the question "Large cardinals in $ZF$ + $DC$ + $AD$, and 1 point for reading the question "How many of the true sentences are provable"). Why (please explain)?

May I ask how you linked your reputation change to looking at questions? I have no idea how I could find out such information. I cannot see from my tools that you have interacted with the first question (mathoverflow.net/questions/443211/large-cardinals-in-zf-dc-‌ad) at all. In the second question mathoverflow.net/questions/4454/… you had a downvoted answer at one point that is now gone. If you have had any other interactions with these posts (perhaps downvoting them?), I cannot see them. — David Roberts ♦ Mar 24 at 2:30
If you go to your reputation tab and make sure that the checkbox "show removed posts" is checked, are some recent changes of reputation displayed? — Martin Sleziak Mar 24 at 2:54
Maybe if the OP posted the screenshot of the reputation tab, a bit more could be said.
Looks like you might have downvoted the answer on that thread. — The Amplitwist Mar 25 at 18:35
@ThomasBenjamin You lose 1 reputation point for downvoting an answer, but you don't lose any points for downvoting a question. You can confirm for yourself whether your vote has been cast on that answer, since that vote button will be lit up if you have. — The Amplitwist Mar 25 at 19:11
For the record, I will add that there is one downvote on the answer to Large cardinals in ZF + DC + AD, as one can see in the timeline. (But only the OP can confirm, whether the downvote came from them - i.e., whether this was indeed the reason for the reputation loss.) — Martin Sleziak Mar 25 at 21:20
@ThomasBenjamin your votes are locked in after five minutes, so you won’t be able to undo your vote now… unless the post has been edited after you cast your vote, in which case you can undo or change your vote. — The Amplitwist Mar 25 at 22:41
So the downvote would explain -1 for Large cardinals in ZF + DC + AD - there is a downvote on one of the answers.
I am not sure about the other one - I do not see downvotes on the answers here: How many of the true sentences are provable?
The OP had a deleted answer there - in a comment I linked to a query with votes on that answer. But any reputation loss/gain from deleted answer should be removed on deletion (at least if it was deleted relatively shortly after posting.)
For users below 10k (who cannot see deleted posts) I will add this SEDE query - where you can see that the answer mentioned above was deleted on March 13 and it had three downvotes. (The data shown here are from the last update of SEDE.) — Martin Sleziak Mar 24 at 3:30
-1 could come from a downvote to an answer there - but I do not see any downvotes on answers.

My bad - I have somehow missed this - answer 7856 has a downvote this month: timeline, SEDE.

David RobertsTo summarise the conversation in the comments, it seems Thomas may have accidentally downvoted some answers while browsing on a phone (I've done the same, especially when the screen reflows because of MathJax rendering), and downvoting an answer (but not a question) subtracts 1 reputation point. ...

I appreciate that somebody posted an answer summarizing what was said in comment.
@DavidRoberts Just in case you'd like to include some posts with documentaion about various topics which were touched there, here are some links. (And probably some other useful links related to these topics could be found.)
How can reputation be gained/lost: How does "Reputation" work?
Downvoting an answer costs 1 reputation point: Why do you lose reputation for downvoting answers?
Votes are locked: Why do votes get locked?
Can accidental downvote be removed: Reverse an accidental downvote (But some post which contains a more detailed explanation would probably be better.)

Of course, if you prefer it that way, I can post a separate answer collecting such links.

Either way is fine. If you don't want to go to the effort I can edit these links in later, crediting you for collecting them

I have posted a CW-answer - of course, anybody is welcome to include any improvements.

Martin SleziakThis is a CW answer - feel free to improve and add as needed. The question is already sufficiently answered - the intention of this answer is to collect sources where one can read more about the topics brought-up here and various related issues. How can reputation be gained/lost: How does "Reput...

As I said, I would prefer to have a link to a something discussing editing for the purpose of removing a vote cast by mistake. But I am not sure whether there was such discussion on this meta. I remember such discussions on Mathematics Meta:
Some related discussions on meta.math.SE: How to remove downvote after the grace period expired? and Is it alright to do an unnecessary edit so you can change your vote? (Of course, MO and math.SE are two separate communities and the views on many issues can be rather different.) — Martin Sleziak Jul 8, 2017 at 9:38
Actually, I came here today simply because I wasn't able to tell what could be the cause for one of the two deductions of one reputation point. And only after posting here in chat I realized, that I somehow missed that one of the answers was downvoted in both cases.
