So, for example, who do you consider large caliber, in the people who answered the poll? Is a 50k rep guy just looking for points more important than a 2k rep guy that has produce fewer, but high quality answers? What about another 3k rep guy that spend a lot of time in the review queues cleaning up the site, without any fanfare or publicity?

I was wondering why you asked us to provide, in a comment, the exact reason of our vote. Now that I have read this, I realize it was mainly to know who voted, and in which way. I am just amazed.

What would you think of a democracy saying "Well, let's give the rich people a higher weigh in their vote. They're the one who produce wealth in this country, so if we want our country to continue growing, we have to trust them more than other people"?

Now, let me blow your mind: High rep people are not actually necessary for this site to work. What would happen if all high rep people (whatever the rep limit) stopped answering? Lower rep people would still answer, without compromising on the quality. The only difference is that "large caliber" people answer faster, because they spend more time on this site. This is perfectly fine, but I don't see why this has to be taken in consideration when deciding the rules here.
