really?
wait, so you've never had a summer break?
or a spring break?
or a weekend?
i feel so bad for you. :'(
it makes me cry just to hear it!
@BookWyrm17 Unfortunately, no.
omg
I was just chatting normally on IRC
and then appeared, 51 messages since your last visit
damn, that's fast
*pats*
YES YES YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
ALL YEEEEEEEEEEEEES
yes
lol & yes
yes & lol
& . . .
& yes
01:18
LOL
YES!!!!!
01:45
Uh?
WHY ;_; PENTIUM SUCKS
When your voice gets hoarse.
And your recorder stops responding.
There's only one thing you can play!
Super Mario World!
02:32
Hi Brown.
One hour later :P
I miss you from Code Review.
Oh yeah, didn't even see ya @EBrown

1 hour later…
03:55
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ has he posted the updates late;y?
i haven't seen em

3 hours later…
07:08
hi

3 hours later…
09:55
@ARadish No, I'm working on a thing for them.
Hey @Gustavo6046 and @NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ.
10:41
Would someone be able to help me with the quick smoke effect in Blender?
11:29
maybe later today
11:43
oh and yes, I have not seen Star Wars yet @ARadish

3 hours later…

3 hours later…
17:20
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ ok
18:14
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ brb
18:39
What game asset should I make?
SOmething fairly basic first
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ Galilean moons?
That's a game asset?
oh
I don't know what game you're making.
I'm not, I am working on a workflow atm
Anything could work
I just need to tie down something so I don't wriggle out from under it when I come across a block
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ How difficult would a snow mobile be?
my dad has been begging me for one for his mobile game.
18:43
@GiantCowFilms eek, how detailed?
Well I don't know specifically what you're looking for, but Galilean moons would work. The modeling is trivial of course, but the animation and getting everything to move along with the character player is...well still easy, but not trivial.
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ Mobile game level of detail (low)
I'd need some reference of the art style and detail density @GiantCowFilms
ok
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ Yeah, and I won't be able to share that with you, since you'd need to see the game, which you could track back to me.
lol, well then that won't be happening
18:44
If you go for as real as you can get with 1000 polys, you'll be there.
I could just come visit and you could show it to me
:P
@GiantCowFilms Art style is the big thing though
Bring along a nice girl cow and make things really awkward. :P
@Gwenn LOL
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ You don't have my actual address.
18:47
not quite
I could get it pretty easily
I bet you could also afford the plane tickets :P
yah
but waste of money
and the cow would be expensive
Sup
@wuden Hi
Not a whole lot, just random stalking and topic suggestions for my next project
18:52
@wuden Hey, I haven't seen you here in w while
yeah I had a lot of things to do with programming didn't use blender for a while
@wuden I've kind of been doing the same thing
Lots of web stuff
What kind of things have you been doing?
php/unix/c those kind of stuff I'm not a fan of this
PHP drives me crazy...
and you?
18:55
I like C though
@wuden I've been playing with the MEAN stack
@TARDISMaker whats that?
@wuden mean.io
It's node.js build with express.js and mongo, and angular.js
guhhh
node
I like sensible classes none of that hokey prototype stuff
@GiantCowFilms Didn't you use node?
@someonewithpc I did
18:58
@GiantCowFilms The pure awesomeness of it, right? :P
note the past tense
probably why he doesn't like it
@GiantCowFilms For what?
@GiantCowFilms Fair enough
@TARDISMaker guuhhh no, PHP is still my favorite language.
@TARDISMaker the planet game for starters
18:58
@GiantCowFilms PHP is super disgusting
@TARDISMaker Why?
It's a terrible language
The only good thing about it is how easy it is to get into
(besides installing a server)
What is wrong with it? There are just a hole bunch of people saying that on the internet, without forming their opinions on their own.
@TARDISMaker Thats trivial once you get the hang of it
@GiantCowFilms Yeah
But I was meaning for a beginner
@GiantCowFilms A few things, the system for inserting data is a mess (imo)
@TARDISMaker why do you hate PHP? Becuase someone told your it was bad or their is something that genuinely bother you.
19:00
And outdated
@GiantCowFilms $
@TARDISMaker you get a library for that
That's one of the biggest reasons
@TARDISMaker really????
I've started a new conflict
@GiantCowFilms Yes
19:00
@TARDISMaker That's not a valid reason..
It's super annoying and unnesicary
@someonewithpc Sure, I can understand that
@TARDISMaker Try C++
@GiantCowFilms Oi!
you have to use 10 lines of code to do everything
What's wrong with C++?
19:01
13 secs ago, by GiantCowFilms
you have to use 10 lines of code to do everything
@someonewithpc But it's an example of how outdated is
esp. when you are using MS's hokey .NET garbage
<enters>
then you need 12 lines to do anything
Use Ook!
<exits>
19:02
@GiantCowFilms But it gives you more power and it makes it easier to read
@TARDISMaker Its actually being updated
Welcome to CodeWars, starring a Cow and a dude with a PC! Live every time someone mentions PHP
@GiantCowFilms Okay...
@GiantCowFilms That's not C++
I have a little problem with blender... When I sculpt I don't see the results in render view but when I render image it somehow refresh my render view and it's okay... whats wrong?
19:02
@TARDISMaker I don't wanna use 10 lines of code to take data out of a .txt and put it into a string!
@GiantCowFilms And that's just micro$oft in general
@GiantCowFilms but that's now what you use C++ for
thats a wate of my time!
The power of C++ is in pointers
19:02
I know
@TARDISMaker which are a headache
@GiantCowFilms That's not what you'd use it for!
@GiantCowFilms And cool
each of these languages are designed for a specific use case, and all have major issues
I mainly use it if I wanna be finninicky about my performance and prescion or what to do something fancy
@someonewithpc I needed to do that as part of my program to read a config!
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ Definitively
19:03
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ Yeah
PHP was designed to make the original dynamic web sites
Actually no, if I'm really inserting myself into this, I just use Python for everything. I've never seen a good reason for me to use another language, except for when I am specifically required to.
I hate python. I find it impossible to read
@GiantCowFilms Oh, I'm sorry you had to write ten lines...!
Before server side languages where really a thing
I like Python too, although the lack of semicolons took a bit to get used to
19:04
I also hate it because of how much some people love it.
@Gwenn Performance
So, the system for it is all outdated
Java, MATLAB, R, and HTML/CSS/jQuery are the only others I can personally compare it to.
But most things, Python is fine
19:05
^^
I like python
The problem is that python has no curly braces, and that makes it tricky to read.
It's really easy to write and read
@GiantCowFilms Eh... Not really
@GiantCowFilms eh what?
@TARDISMaker read no. At least for me
The tabs make up for it
19:05
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ They're optional
I like that their required
@someonewithpc 1: Cython. 2: Does that ever matter for anyone? Unless you're using time on a supercomputer cluster?
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ I use curly braces to read code. I'm bad at gauging how deep the indentation is.
Yeah, but using someones code that didn't have them was impossible
@GiantCowFilms ok
should I make a topic of my problem with that render view thing?
19:06
@Gwenn 1. True. 2. Cycles
@wuden should be a bug report imo
Depends
@wuden Post .blend
The worst language to read (which is popular in nodejs circles) is jade. its like html without the close tags or the braces around. it holds itself together with indents. then some idiots only use two spaces for the indents. Many it is hard to read.
Can we at least be glad we're not using COBOL?
19:07
@GiantCowFilms False. I refer you to Ook! esolangs.org/wiki/ook!
@Gwenn Esolangs!
High five?
Esolangs don't count!
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ language
:P
@Gwenn You know about Bugmaker?
It's the best
19:09
I can't upload that maybe because of it's size
world traveling frogs aren't profane
@GiantCowFilms Don't worry, I don't like it. I've tried it a few times, but it doesn't work for me
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ ?
19:11
(btw, it's now called pug, some software company yelled at them for using the name jade)
World Traveling Frogs == wtf
@GiantCowFilms I wonder if it would be any better with curly braces?
Sintax is besides the point.
Hah löl
  DO LABEL START AND NOT ANYTHING ELSE NOW
  DO READ A CHARACTER FROM CONSOLE AND PUT IT IN THE VARIABLE NAMED C NOW
  DO IF C != 0 FOR SURE IS TRUE
     DO PRINT C TO CONSOLE NOW
     DO GOTO START AND NOT ANYWHERE ELSE NOW
  ENDIF NOW
If you don't like it, write a parsr targeting it
19:13
@Gwenn That is awful o.O
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ That's bugmaker
Aptly named I am sure
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ If you only say 'IF C != 0', it may: 1.not do the check, 2. take the wrong brach, or 3. only do the check after a random interval has passed
gtg
@TARDISMaker To see how to improve it, see under html
19:15
@GiantCowFilms Okay, I know that I can't do much to support my claim that PHP is a bad language
I just don't like working in it
But, I want to ask you, What are some things that you really like about PHP?
And what are some things that you don't like about node?
@GiantCowFilms HTML is a pain to type though
I'm now using a plugin for atom so that I don't have to type html in the standard fasion
@TARDISMaker their lack of proper classes
@TARDISMaker painless syntax (I don't mind the $)
Really nice classes
cool ways of hijacking normal functions to make really fun to use APIs
simple to read braces and bracket syntax
@GiantCowFilms That's a javascript problem, though, isn't it?
a bazillion libraries to fix anything bad about the language.
@TARDISMaker Yes
Node == javascript
So still an issue, but not really a node issue
@GiantCowFilms Kindof...
Node does have some extra features
@TARDISMaker If its an issue i have to handle when working with node, its a node issue.
@TARDISMaker like what?
19:20
@GiantCowFilms Importing
(this is coming to javascript in ES6 though...)
@TARDISMaker Have you tried PHP's namespaces? they rock!
@GiantCowFilms No...
@TARDISMaker man, your missing out on the fun!
no wonder you don't like PHP
you are proably using PDO, a billion includes and no classes.
you poor fellow!
@GiantCowFilms I have no reason to use classes...
@TARDISMaker You think you don't, until you start
19:22
The most complex thing I've tried to do in PHP is routing
@TARDISMaker Now I can kinda see why you can stand JS.
@TARDISMaker Use a library for that!
@GiantCowFilms I don't want to add a library for everything
@TARDISMaker Why not?
gets things done faster.
Lets you do more in a given amount of time
Sure, but you learn things slower
@TARDISMaker No
you use a libarary, and spend your time learning the important things
the things you can't do with a libarary
19:24
Let me guess, you're a don't reinvent the wheel person, aren't you...
Quite frankly, I've learned more about PHP using a framework than not.
okay...
@TARDISMaker I'm an impatient person! So yes!!! I wanna get things done and go places!
@TARDISMaker Because you hit a bug, dig around in their code, and learn about things you never even thought to try doing.
Okay...
To be honest the only thing I haven't gotten right yet are PHP depolyments
19:26
Docker?
@TARDISMaker What would a database insert look like using mean?
@GiantCowFilms Depends on how you do it
@TARDISMaker Ooo!
is it free?
@TARDISMaker ?
If you want to, you can do it in about the same amount of code as you would with PHP
I mean if I have a bunch of data from an HTML form, what would it take to put it into a database?
19:27
Like 5 lines
@TARDISMaker Poor fellow
in php with laravel, it looks like this:
$thingy->fill($request->input());
so simple. so beatiful
The reason why I said it depends, is because the recommended way to do it is to create an node+express api
pff perl is the one and true language
So that gets a bit more complicated
@TARDISMaker I'll have to look at that.
19:29
@GiantCowFilms Sure isn't a short line, but LOOK AT THE DOLLAR SIGNS :P
@TheMuffinCoder Its the language the god made the universe out of
(Seriously, that made it a lot harder for me to read)
@TARDISMaker For me it makes it easier
Oh, and you're also using -> instead of a dot, right?
That's another thing that makes it harder to read
guhh dots!
19:30
@GiantCowFilms lmao I saw that xkcd before
@TheMuffinCoder I know
Now that I get that it's really thingy.fill(request.input()); It's become a lot nicer
some of these get posted 10 or so times
:D speaking about server side languages
@TARDISMaker buh
19:31
Join the darkside and use node.js >:)
Which, btw, is a ton easier for me to read
Javascript is the true language
GUHHH NOOOOOO!!!!
Fill seems like an odd function name for insert though...
19:31
@TheMuffinCoder Classess!
typescript?
I must have my classes!
@TheMuffinCoder so js isn't the true language
@TheMuffinCoder YAY!!! I have someone on my side now!
:D I love js
also how did we end up in a situation so bad we have to compile to another language
19:32
@GiantCowFilms Im pretty sure with Ecma 6 theres classes now
They aren't peroper classes
do you have any idea how hard it is to refer to a object from within a member function?
Oops, that was supposed to be one higher...
well too bad I'm using typescript :P
19:33
I spent an entire day to figure out how to od that!
@GiantCowFilms how come "laughing my @$$ off" isn't offensive to you?
@GiantCowFilms yes shudders from nightmares
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ I was tempted to mention it.
I wish that Brainfox was a programming language.
19:33
wait brainfox? or the actual brainf**k
@TheMuffinCoder THAT is literally the one reason why I avoid writing JS
@TheMuffinCoder THAT is where I draw the line on bad language!
but but I can do everything in the browser
@GiantCowFilms But other than classes (apparently) It's much nicer!
What is wrong with Brian Frock?
@GiantCowFilms That is the literal name of a programming language.
19:34
Look at the syntax!
So much cleaner!
There was actually a post on Academia.SE about that.
HNQ a while back.
well js supports webgl :D
infinite cool stuff starts to come out
It's fine to use the term "Brainfuck" in academic papers, if that's really the programming language you are referring to.
Brainfuck is an esoteric programming language created in 1993 by Urban Müller, and notable for its extreme minimalism. The language consists of only eight simple commands and an instruction pointer. While it is fully Turing-complete, it is not intended for practical use, but to challenge and amuse programmers. The language's name is a reference to the slang term brainfuck, which refers to things so complicated or unusual that they exceed the limits of one's understanding. == History == In 1992, Urban Müller, a Swiss physics student, took over a small online archive for Amiga software. The archive...
19:35
If you want to introduce it by that name, and thereafter refer to it by an acronym (BF) or something, that's okay, but isn't really even necessary.
Best friend?
Boy friend?
Battlefield?
There are reasons why that's not the best acronym.
19:36
BFG
Or it can be battlefront! :D
Seriously, cow? Did you seriously just flag that?
Yes!
the f-word is no-no
no matter where it is used!
that language as the rudest name!
We'll see what the mods think :P
19:37
sadly most of the world will completely ignore you
You do have to learn to just mentally block a lot of stuff
Yup ^^
@GiantCowFilms Now if you can ignore the classes, can you at least agree that npm is awesome?
Just because a word is etymologically and historically tied to a word does not mean that it shares the meaning of that word. The Brainfuck programming language does not mean anything offensive, so why are you insistent on taking offense?
The fact that I can simply install grunt or gulp with a single command
No hassle
And so many other awesome tools?
