12:06 AM
okay, now the results are finally final
I don't understand timezones it seems
Interesting, there was a tie

Who likes big numbers?

@GiantCowFilms I think it might be a tad overexposed

@gandalf3 lol

:P

More than that
@gandalf3 BTW, how are you counting votes?

12:07 AM
Adding them all up

Wait, shouldn't it be stars divided by votes?

Nah, otherwise 1 vote could win

@gandalf3 With a minimum number of votes?
@gandalf3 That seems wrong
someone could get ALOT of trash votes and still win
I was wondering why feathered familiar did so well.

12:22 AM
@gandalf3 How do you hide the header in a window in blender?
nvm
figured it

@GregZaal I hope you don't mid me bothering you here. I was looking at your hdrihaven.com site (nice site, hope it is doing well) I was wondering 1 did you build it your self? 2 What is running it? It sure is not wordpress or durpal, way too clean. Again nice site! PS I found a way to download 2k versions of some of your hdrs. :)

@David A blank slate like this on builtwith is making me lean towards self built: builtwith.com/?https%3a%2f%2fhdrihaven.com%2f
also he mentioned on his blog adaptive sampels something about self built

@gandalf3 the graphs in the "Detailed stats" section what are they plotting? star count per day?

@David votes per star count
So the left is the number of 1 star votes, and the right is the number of 5 star votes

ok I get it now, thanks

12:33 AM
@GiantCowFilms I also calculated the stars/ratings and displayed it on hover

@gandalf3 Ah okay

My Feathered Familiar got 73%

ok that totaly makes sense now! PS nice page showing all the data.

@gandalf3 I finally managed to fly BeeSpeed through the hole without any colisions!

Nice!
\o/

12:34 AM
@gandalf3 I really didn't like that game

neither did I
tbh
Too much of the same thing
Did it ever change?

Not that I noticed
also it seemed really easy

well his "prize" is to host the next BGMC

lol
I must have played it for 45 minutes or so while trying to dive through two birds in one go

@David I award you a community service task
:P

12:41 AM
I'm surprised my feathered familiar scored so low in the innovation category..
ugh
I just found a bug in youtube's description editor
On first save it truncates the links for display, but if you save and edit it, it saves the truncated versions as the real links

1:08 AM
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ Hey! Is there a parrticular name for the type of software that will record the last X number of seconds from when you hit the record button like you were talking about?
I've been seraching and can't find anything obvious

1:19 AM
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ musicfans.stackexchange.com/questions/3263/…

Q: Audio recording software that records last X seconds from when you hit record

Thom Blair IIIA friend told me about a type of audio recording software that will record the last X number of seconds worth of audio from your computer as soon as you hit the Record button. However, I have not been able to find any such software. Does anyone know the name for that kind of functionality? I...

@gandalf3 @iklsr @david Does anyone know of any such software? musicfans.stackexchange.com/questions/3263/…
I can't even figure out what to search on

@ThomBlairIII I use the program that came packaged with my NVIDIA GTX 980

Maybe this kind of software doesn't exist
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ what's it called?

maybe I can learn the name of the function from it
ok, thanks

1:47 AM
@ARadish if you collect yours we should have enough for another claim.
I have 72, with an extra 8 we'll have enough to get the entire treehouse

@ThomBlairIII I would recommend you ask on softwarerecs.stackexchange.com

@cegaton The spring pack of GCF HDRIs is coming as soon as I can get these two images to look the same

@GiantCowFilms The white part looks ok so far... ;)

2:02 AM
@cegaton actually, if you push the exposure down, there not :P

@GiantCowFilms bummer!

@GiantCowFilms how are you stiching 'them HDRis

@ARadish I got my second claim up, are you online?

?

2:04 AM
@cegaton PTGUI
I'm currently developing better bracket merging software. My old blender-based solution was slow, inaccurate and frustrating.

@X-27 no. my siblings wanted that pc. :(

ahh.

yup. sucks

it says your still online. Should I be worried?

no matter, i do it tomorrow
@X-27 that might be my brother...

2:06 AM
oh dear.

yes. in his own little world

PVP is disabled, so I won't be able to stop him from wrecking anything.
oh, ok
that is fine.

@X-27 XD
lol

he can be in a different world :)

:D yes
he wouldn't wreck anything anyway, he's pretty good about that.
makes libraries.
thats all
like HUUUGE libraries.

2:07 AM
LLOOOTS of bookshelvs :)

yes. it's pretty strange

I make palaces.
big ones.

XD
we should make a big death temple or something in the tree. will all the death pots.
i died so much...
and i have both mayan packs.
so it could be themey. but tourmaline is required to make it cool

Worst bit is the error in the HDRI merge seems to be totally random!

o.o

2:11 AM
/me wants to blame double precision rounding errors

@ARadish sure is useful having your stone at the top and mine in the mine.

but the problem is that there isn't a good way to get better than double precision rounding error

store numbers in strings??

@ARadish I just found a big deposit of obsdian, you will have no problem getting your second claim out.

@gandalf3 this isn't python
and also, how do I do multiplication with two strings????
And the memory usage on that will be out the window!

2:20 AM
@ARadish Remember in case we can't get back in - stronghold shorehall
is the world name.

2:31 AM
oikay
@GiantCowFilms idk.. does that image mean something? looks strange to me

@ARadish That is the error on each pixel
The difference between these two pictures:
30 mins ago, by GiantCowFilms
user image
for the read channel I think

@David Thanks!

@GiantCowFilms huh

absolute value of pixel on image a minus pixel on image b

2:51 AM
lost.
but good for you! sounds techy and complicated and like it took a looong time to learn

3:38 AM
@GiantCowFilms i have lots of time this weekend. could you help make BGE networked game?

@ARadish ooh can I help?

@gandalf3 yazz!!!!

:D

i just want to get it working so badly!!! :{}
@gandalf3 yay!
or, as autocorrect usually makes me do... Wax!

:P

3:45 AM
@gandalf3 should we start now?
:D:D:D

Why not?

awesome

I have to go sort of soon though, but I can look at it later if we start now

@gandalf3 should we use the addon, or just code it from scratch?
@gandalf3 ok

Addon?

3:47 AM
sure. i was going to avoid it because learning whole new thing really is sh***y, but if you want lets do it!

I mean, what addon?
There's an addon?

oh. lol
here, link incoming

I'll catch it :)

3.. 2.. 1.. Wild hyperlink was caught!
Well after a 3 second evaluation it looks nice, but if you want to go vanilla I certainly don't mind
@ARadish So what did you have in mind?

3:50 AM
@gandalf3 just making cubes that we can move around would be a good start.
. .with arrow keys^

Fair enough
How do you plan to communicate over the network?
python sockets?

@gandalf3 um... i was thinking if we pickled the info, we could send it via sockets???

@ThomBlairIII github.com/mattingalls/Soundflower looks good, then I think you can use the system sound recorder.

@gandalf3 yes

sounds good
Centralized server? p2p?

3:52 AM
@ARadish I like pickles, then go good on burgers.

@David Thanks!

@gandalf3 uhhh...

p2p == peer to peer

probably my pc as the server. :P
if that is possible

okay
You'll likely need to setup some stuff like port-forwarding to make that work

3:53 AM
that way no-one else would have to share the super secret identities of the IP
@gandalf3 :| what?

@ARadish possible, but not a great idea. you would have to set up port forwarding, which will open you up to the wild internet to be hacked.

@David yes then do! then do go good on hamburgers.!
@David oh... then something else then
is a peer-to-peer safer?
@gandalf3 what are your suggestions, i know nothing about this

that could work, but I would have it work like every other multi player game on the internet. every player's game "talks" to a server (as in a server like the one @GiantCowFilms has).

erm.. I'm not even sure how to set up something like p2p over the internet

hmmm...
there was a tutorial somewhere, badly depreciated and i couldn't get it to work...

3:56 AM
g2g..
bbl

@gandalf3 cya tomorow

so for now I think i would plan on using GCF's server

@David ok, i will ask him
@GiantCowFilms can i use your server?
@David ^^

and if his is not open, then you could write the server end in php and use any old free one.

there are free servers?

3:58 AM
@gandalf3 what host are you using? Isn't your site in pyhton?
@ARadish yep, I can give you two link right now

@David save the links for later...
but thanks for the info

its crazy but you can have a compactly free web site.

i can't code very well btw...

thats ok others here can :) and there is always SO

so maybe this isn't the job for me. just thought it would be massively fun if we could
@David :P yes
anyway, i gtg also... but thanks for eveeryines enthusiasm! maybe this will actually happen!!! excitedly jitters

4:02 AM
night

4:22 AM
@ARadish I'm through - I got through the trunk! all the way down to the ground!!!

5:12 AM
@X-27 !!!
yah!

6:09 AM
@David o/ yeah it's all hand coded, I've only dabbled in web stuff in the past so it was quite fun figuring it all out :) I know some of my older hdris are available in 2k, is that what you're referring to?

@GregZaal hi Greg!

@David It's php, the only python currently used is for rendering markdown

6:33 AM
@ARadish Here's a nice explanation:
173
A: What is port forwarding and what is it used for?

jcrawfordorThe Basics To really explain port forwarding, you first need to understand a little more about what your router does. Your internet service provider assigns one IP address to your internet connection. All computers on the internet need a unique IP address, but you have multiple computers in your...

4 hours later…
10:50 AM
Here are pictures that I have taken, at various points in the past.
What do you guys think?
The first two are from Brazos Bend State Park south of Houston, TX, and the latter two are from Inyo National Forest in California, with Yosemite NP just past the mountains.
I have lots more, but these are some of my favorites.
Wait, behind the mountains in the last one is just the Ansel Adams Wilderness, Yosemite is another few miles.

11:58 AM
@Gwenn a little blury on part of the tree, some depth would help.
@Gwenn nice.
@Gwenn Very nice, but a little too washed out.
@Gwenn Wow. just wow.

wow.
Tar Bread. 6 seconds to smelt lumite ore.

best fuel for the forge in the game.
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ I don't know if it will let you in, but try searching for the world "stronghold shorehall" I joined a public world, and it happened to put me in the same world that Radish was in :)
me and him are making a mega tree house on a GIANT wildwood tree

oh, ok.
@ARadish was the only reason why you stopped playing before because it was bring playing alone?

12:59 PM
@Gwenn Nice. What camera, though, the dynamic range seems unusually good.
@ARadish Sure
If it doesn't cause crashes

@GiantCowFilms A waterproof camera, I'd have to go pull it out to figure out the exact model.

@Gwenn Its it by any chance a Panasonic?

I don't think so.
Hold on.
@GiantCowFilms It's a Fujifilm FinePix XP70

Cool
@gandalf3 @ARadish A networked version of BeeSpeed would be awesome

1 hour later…
2:22 PM
@X-27 no, it got boring, i just needed a break
@Gwenn i feel like i've been there...
@GiantCowFilms yes, but lets start with just cubes
@Gwenn mt ritter?

2:44 PM
@ARadish hopefully it isn't boring now :)

@ARadish Yep.
@ARadish Thousand Island Lake in the foreground.

@GregZaal wow very nice. again let me reiterate my sentiments on what a nicely coded site you made. Yes I got all your "old" hdrs (is there a difference?)
@gandalf3 ok that makes sense. I had remembered you saying something about your site using python, and either did not remember fully, or just jumped to conclusions.

@gandalf3 Would you please correct this person? He doesn't like your voting system and says that double voting should have not been permitted. I'd like to tell him that Double votes wouldn't work, but then they might think that I tried to double vote :)

@ARadish that is how multi player games work, they send cubes position, rotation and direction, and then the client game will just put the character, or plane, or car there.

2:58 PM
@Gwenn I quite like this one. the other mountain pic with the path is very nice too.
@Gwenn I would frame this one a bit differently let me make a quick example.
still one of the things that gets me: I type "ps" in the windows start menu and photoshop does not come up. Why does MS not use the aberrations that the rest of the world does?

3:20 PM
that is more how I would frame the tree (it does kind of scream rule of thirds)
or even more drastic.
that one is "photoshop hack job" but you get the idea

3:33 PM
@David Yikes!

@X-27 its not that bad

Oh dear- Oh Dear. That is UglY

4:04 PM
@ARadish ping me when you get back online - I don't want to get too far ahead of you in the world, or it will be boring.

1 hour later…
5:18 PM
lol:
<A>: Like </a>this.&nbsp;
2
@gandalf3 and @GregZaal, know the feeling ;D

@GiantCowFilms um... that would not begin to work.....
LOL

Yeah, that's a goo done

My package move yet? Awwww!
@ARadish I just need sea shells for the iron cell, I'll raid the shore until I find some.
Once I build a iron cell, you can pick it up and unlock the recopies, bypassing the pointless ones. :)

5:46 PM
I really hope they don't fix the 3 high ladder exploit any time soon.

what is that?

me fighting a pebble riot from a 3 high ladder.

6:43 PM
can someone explain this to me?

They're drunk/high..?

@David um...... Q?

@GiantCowFilms (aka @cow) you know what comes next...
are you guys tired of me doing that?

Are you not tired of doing it? :P

6:56 PM
@someonewithpc not a bit! I actually got excited when I saw the Late Answer come through (it is nearly always my last one to get)

Ah, good

plus it is the first time this month.
:)
@gandalf3 I'll be expecting that cake now.
lol

*starts baking*

@gandalf3 baking a normal map or a displace map?

7:00 PM
Combined

@David I'd prefer if he started baking a normal cake, and not a normal map. how can one eat a map?? :)
3

@X-27 good one!
@X-27 although it is easy, just tastes like paper.

@David Or glass and electronics

@David fluid sim
@David What viscosity would you like? ;)
@GiantCowFilms aaaaaaaah
</div>
At least the div is closed now
Maybe the browser will ignore that span in the middle
@Gwenn Wow
@GiantCowFilms I was thinking of doing something that when still planning it out initially :P

7:24 PM
@gandalf3 frosting is pretty thick, (and according to this chart) I would say about 10,000.

righto

Z fighting?

ding, ding, ding

8:18 PM
:q

8:36 PM
@ARadish is radish going to get back online anytime soon?

1 hour later…
9:49 PM
@ARadish you coming on any time soon?

10:06 PM
@NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ @ThomBlairIII @TARDISMaker is anyone online?

apparently not

:(

10:30 PM
@ARadish the tree house is so high up that arctic mirus can spawn!

10:56 PM
I just heard the noise
Right at ~9:19 PM

11:16 PM
@X-27 I am now...

@TARDISMaker YAY!!!!!
finally...
I can see Radish's point - playing alone gets boring.
@TARDISMaker I don't even know if this is possible, but try joining this public world:
"stronghold shorehall"
see if you can even search for that name in the list of worlds

Okay
I will in a bit

awesome
teleport to vincent's tochstone, mine is currently locked as it is at the bottom of the mine.
I just herd that strange noise again! this time at about 9:10 PM
@ThomBlairIII @NᴏᴠɪᴄᴇIɴDɪsɢᴜɪsᴇ @TARDISMaker It sounds every night just after 9:00 PM.

11:43 PM
@TARDISMaker define "in a bit"

@X-27 Like, an hour

Uhhhhg!

I wasn't meaning twenty minutes
Probably should have been more specific, sorry

11:57 PM
@X-27 Alright, I'll come on now

Yepeyyy!!!

Now that I think about it, that server is probably going to show up as an option for me...
Yup
