@NoviceInDisguise O.o why is it exploding?
THat is just some basic post pro because it was boring otherwise. Working on final render lighting and background
@RadishoftheOpera Noice!
i've had no projects in sooo long!!! i got so bored i did the lamp next to my PC
XD
Much better than nothing
00:11
but i can't texture it
I'm trying to learn some lighting skills and work on a portfolio
@RadishoftheOpera Procedural man, my entire watch (even carbon fiber) is procedural
@NoviceInDisguise but where di you learn to do that?
and wouldn't all the metal in the watch mess with the compass?
Trial and error, mostly error :P
@NoviceInDisguise :/
@RadishoftheOpera Strong Titanium and Aluminum alloys
Lighter and stronger
00:13
the battery would be a steel cased nickel cell. :O
@RadishoftheOpera THere are a few good tutorials online, but the more advanced stuff you will probably have to learn on you rown
@RadishoftheOpera Wouldn't have to be
@NoviceInDisguise really? a titanium battery?
No . . .
Lithium-Ion . . . does that need any ferrous metals?
@NoviceInDisguise no, but i ahven't seen any that weren't cased in steel
Doesn't mean there can't be tho
00:16
lead acid might work, ussually a plastic and copper case, but i don't think they come that small.
@NoviceInDisguise good point
but manufacturing a new type of battery so a watch can have a compass doesn't sound like an investment. It's good for teh blender thing though! :)
maybe windup... no battery, all copper...
lol
Maybe
Good for a first watch anyways
THere is a limited number of gadgets you can add realistically :/
^^
mostly different types of "odometers"
however, if it would be unrealistic anyway, you could make it really fun with an ICBM call button. That would be worth buying a new battery. >:)
Or one of the ones that uses satellite to contact SAR personnel if you get lost . . .
@NoviceInDisguise one of those buttons for old people in case they fall over...
Beeeeeppp "hello?" "yes, i've fallen and can't get up!" "Right, we'll send an agent right away!"
lol
Testing initial lighting setup . . . then it is the background
00:28
needs a procedural background
?
Like an abstract lighting one?
i don't know, you used that boring ol' milkyway...
Oh yeah lol. That is gone now
but if you have a 100% procedural watch, might as well make it a 100% procedural scene.
Something somewhat influenced by stuff like this
@RadishoftheOpera Yeah, no images for me if i can help it
Any suggestions or images for inspiration?
00:31
bye.. dinner. brb
01:14
time to learn to texture cracks knuckles
trial and error doesn't sound like it'll be fast.
i've got no problem sculpting or making games,,, or just plain ol' modelling, but the two things i'm afraid of are python and texturing.
01:53
New version (low res)
OK this was very posabily the last question I will answer form black hole. blender.stackexchange.com/questions/32388/not-colliding-ray/…

I gave him everything he wanted, and more. Yet some how he manages to find a way to always be unhappy with the answers.
Yeah, no fun to help people like that
I'll edit it to add his game property, but then that is it.
01:57
Yeah
@NoviceInDisguise also there was something about this comment that rubbed me the wrong way.
Yah . . . that seems rather odd
I really should of known better, this is not the first time something like this has happened with him. Look at the comments on nearly any of his bountied questions.
Yeah . . .
PS very nice looking watch.
02:06
Thanks :)
is your guru entry done?
Rendering :/
I bet that takes a while
Yeah
22:38:00 down, 8:30:00 to go
WOW
02:08
Yah
At least 30 hours
very interesting. I just read your selection question, and I never knew that lasso or circle select works on the origins.
Yeah, normally i have the origins on the center of the mesh, so I didn't notice it till recently
@NoviceInDisguise me too.
A couple of work arounds. Use different layers for the outer objects and the face. 2 keep the origin at the mesh and parent the object to an empty at the center of the watch (more control this way)

@David Do you only have three Blends on BE or do you need me to attach some old ones?

3 hours later…
17:56
@GiantCowFilms I would have to check, but that may be it. (I don't put a blend on everything)
all the ones I transfer, I do not put under my name.
@GiantCowFilms 3
it will soon be more (I'm moving my pasteall based posts soon)

2 hours later…

If any of you guys want to see a high res of my watch or have some ideas, feel free to drop a post on my BA thread: blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?373587-Tactical-Watch
