16:00
@TARDISMaker thanklyou! sniffs you don't know how much this means to me! lol
@Photoshop, I give you kudos for trying ;D, maybe in 50 years
Its working so hard, shame...
It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
after 20 min XD
16:05
my fav in a long time
that guy really know texturing
Yeah!
I have that many vertices in one tire . . .
@RadishoftheOpera No spec maps though
killing me
Yeah
Too glossy
Much to glossy
and too sharp to
16:09
did you wait for the textures to load?
Yeah
Too glossy
@RadishoftheOpera Yeah
for it's poly count I think it was good.
and SketchFab isn't the best with spec maps
Spec map needed, esp for low poly
The spec maps are what makes it come down a bit
@GiantCowFilms Absolutely agree
16:11
the problem I found was the random floaty thing hovering near the middle guys eyes
That is annoying . . .
it appears to be a texture...
@RadishoftheOpera How'd you steal the texture map?
@GiantCowFilms right off the bodies. :O
16:13
That is on that weird floaty thing
what I would give to be able to draw textures like that.
They don't look that difficult.....
but I can't even do anything close, I don't even know where to start.
Start by making crappy textures
maybe I need one of those draw-y things for computers, like the mouse pads that you can use a pen on and it shows up on the screen... cause I can draw fine with a pencil, just not a mouse.
16:16
All he did there was use some textured brushes and about 8 or 10 colors (2-3 variations of green, gold etc) and created some surfaces.
@RadishoftheOpera I can draw with a pencil but not one of those drawy things
@RadishoftheOpera Yup
whats the difference in dynamic?
seems like the same to me
16:17
I think its because the one I have was cheap, and doesn't have very good control
maybe I could print a UV map and hand paint it.
But not looking where you are drawing is the death of me
@RadishoftheOpera They used to do that back in the day :D
@GiantCowFilms is hard...
For Jar Jar binks on star-wars they color and shape scanned a fully painted sculpture
maybe I could rig my tablet so I could look at what I was doing
@GiantCowFilms and it turned out beautifully.
16:20
@RadishoftheOpera Yah, lol, paint it white and buy a projector
the only problem would be edge coherence, I would have to unwrap really well.
@GiantCowFilms ?
like if I could use my tablet to control texture painting in blender
i think i'll hand paint them, sounds easier and more fun.
i can't remember a single thing of Starwars with jarjar
except that he was in it, and he was annoying.
I never watched star wars
how is that even possible.
@NoviceInDisguise Why!!!!!!!?
16:26
I don't watch most movies. I very rarely watch anything
I sometimes watch VFX breakdowns, but that is it.
I know but those are classics!
ILM has a bunch of good ones
@GiantCowFilms Don't call them that!
@NoviceInDisguise Watch all of them in the 301+ view state
I hate classics
@NoviceInDisguise Classic movies are great! Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Casablanca, E.T., Forrest Gump
So many of my favorite movies
16:28
Depends who is defining what a classic is . . .
Citizen Kane was lame though
@NoviceInDisguise Movies that are still famous many years later, and had I defining role in cinema
My parents are the ones generally who say "lets watch ______, it's a classic!"
@NoviceInDisguise What are their choices
Then I am bored
@GiantCowFilms Choices?
@NoviceInDisguise Our neighbor told us to watch American Graffiti, Its a classic directed by George Lucas... lol boring as heck
@NoviceInDisguise What movies do they think are classics
16:30
Things like really old . . . Princess Bride (yick)
Star Trek (the original) is decent
@NoviceInDisguise Some old movies are good
Some
Man my machine is slow . . . rendering on 4 CPU cores, and on GPU . . .
Lord of the Flies
After recommending American Graffiti, our neighbor recommended Airplane. Lets just say that was not boring, @RadishoftheOpera would have liked it
Flight of the Navigator
16:32
@zeffii Yes, best movie eveeeeeer
which?
Never saw any of those
We also don't have a movie theater nearby
@NoviceInDisguise Oh wow
Novice, are you in Amish country?
So we have to buy them
@zeffii lol
16:33
We have three or four large ones in 20 minutes driving
And a real genuine I Max (I Puke) theater as well
THere is a nice big one about one hour and 20 minutes away . . .
<-- hasn't been to a cinema in 7 years
I have never been to one :)
woAAhh?
you are kidding!
you must be
16:34
@NoviceInDisguise That is far
Been to a concert, that is it
you know there's this thing called 'electricity' right?
three I guess
@zeffii Yeah :D
We are on the grid
You live out there!
and people have been to the Moon!
(not judging... btw )
The IPUKE theaters screen is 60 feet high!
THere is a McDonalds within 25 minutes though
Man that thing was huge
@NoviceInDisguise I can walk to a Dair Queen
NID, i think you'd like ET the movie
@NoviceInDisguise We don't go to it much because the Puke bit works
I can walk to the woods and do whatever
@GiantCowFilms lol
@zeffii ET?
16:37
@NoviceInDisguise imdb.com/title/tt0083866
Really a worthwhile watch
the Extra Testicle
*Terrestrial
@zeffii Uranus
;D
oooh, those words are OK?
16:38
hahaha
@zeffii You got the reference to the movie right ;D
some of my all time favourite swearing happens in ET
@zeffii Nope... The t word is not
Using a planets name in that context is border line
Eliot definitely has a motormouth ;)
16:40
@GiantCowFilms T word . . . i might not know it! Don't educate me please
I couldn't help myself because they used that joke in the movie
@NoviceInDisguise @zeffii just used it
Don't worry though, it is a good movie
:D
hey, I though we agreed that words have context... just like you can't live without water, but you can drown in it, or drink too much of it and develop swollen brain Hydrocephalus
lol
Some words though . . .
16:43
@zeffii I know, I abused context
yeah ET is definitely not about the swearing. pretty wholesome as far as movies go
@zeffii agreed
Flight of the Navigator was awesome.
FNAV > TRON
16:46
I like serious or outrageously funny movies
Like the Gremlins
it's been a while since I seen it
Esp the microwave scene
@X-27 would go to heaven watching that
Goonies
@zeffii One of the few movies I only got to watch a bit of
why?
certainly not due to its content..i'm sure
Batteries not Included, Short Circuit
16:50
Oh wow! the nearest movie theater is a 11 screen one, only 0.6 miles away!
@zeffii Oh, social event
the decided to play the movie, but then paid no attention and made it unwatchable
In that case the content of the movie was cleaner then the conversation :/ first and last time I ever hung out with them.....
out of interest, Earth, 6k or billions of years
@zeffii Lets not go there.... I don't want to stat a belief fight, but I'm in the billions club.
it's not a fight brother.
that's one question I like to know where people stand.
seen this latest Dallas police thing
c r a z y.
17:10
can't wait to finish, so to apply textures

2 hours later…
18:45
@zeffii k
@GiantCowFilms The only thing I found was an operator called "add named object" which just says "object not found" when run.
19:00
Sadly, I don't think there's a hotkey for it, but I doubt it would be hard to add.
Or was it @gandalf3 who wanted that? I can't remember now :)
It was @GiantCow
But I wouldn't be opposed to a way to rename objects with a hotkey ;)
19:40
I wouldn't either. I'll have to look through that addon, and first, see if it still works with 2.74 (It probably still will), and then, see if it's possible to make it pop up using a hotkey.
@GiantCowFilms Can people still create accounts on blendexchange?
who is this Alex in our chat
IDK, just been hanging there for a few days
it's weird also BSE is a complete saucage fest... only about 5 or so ladies
20:06
@Alex apears to be more of a stack overflow person.
20:20
They've hung around here for a while

1 hour later…
21:28
@GiantCowFilms Nope, why do need this?
21:39
Why wouldn't you need this? ;)
21:56
@NoviceInDisguise movies that are a large part of culture now.
@GiantCowFilms as a matter of fact i didn't enjoy it... Thanks, but i'm really not that creepy and gross.
but i do have numb hands from handling a weed-whacker all day... makes it hard to type :P
@gandalf3 Okay, thanks
@gandalf3 Yes /register
it should work
If you want me to attach blender files, just ping me, with an example.
Also tell me if you IP address changes often, since I keep the uploader's ip hash which will allow me to make the change with one query
22:12
So you know where they all are then . . .
Which lake is @X-27 in?
@NoviceInDisguise The hash
Only the NSA could crack those
(but I'm pretty sure it gets the information way before me code)
Who thinks this is the better answer:

A: How do I create a teardrop in HTML?

StewartsideBasic Border-Radius You can do this within CSS relatively easily using border-radius' and transforms. Your CSS was just a little bit out. .tear { width: 50px; height: 50px; border-radius: 0 50% 50% 50%; border: 3px solid black; transform: rotate(45deg); margin-top: 20px; }

@stacker I wanted to add it to blender as my first commit/edit source project, I wanted to make sure I wasn't redoing an existing feature
@GiantCowFilms i don't HTML, but if it has 100 votes, it's probably better.
22:30
@GiantCowFilms Ah
The inline SVG function looks pretty cool tho
22:49
New question:

Q: Is it possible to select multiple objects based on mesh and not origin?

NoviceInDisguiseEvery now and then I will stumble across this issue when making instanced objects in a circular rotation pattern. The origins will be at the center of the arc, while the actual meshes will be a large distance away from the origin. I will then add more objects with identically positioned origins i...

Any ideas?
23:04
@NoviceInDisguise a compass and a whatnow?
23:45
@RadishoftheOpera Eh?
Oh yes, I did add a compass to the watch
Most recent version ^^
Still waiting for steampunk render . . .
