12:38 AM
Nine hells, nearly 1500 posts since I last checked in!

Same here o.O
Leave for a few hours and BAM! an entire library has been written :P

@Gwenn There is a reason why I have 10k posts

The mother of all green squiggles, the animated green squiggles
2
A: How to make moving strip?

GiantCowFilmsYou can use a curve to do this. in order to make it into a tube you need to set the fill to full and raise the bevel depth and resolution. You can then animate the start value to control the end of the strip. If you need to scale up or down the ends, select a point on you curve and use Alt-S. To ...

Perfect excuse...

@GiantCowFilms nice effects there

12:46 AM
XD

That took ages to do
I need better gif editing software

@GiantCowFilms What do you use?

After effects to make a png sequence so I can wait 6 years for photoshop to load it just to wait another 6 years for photoshop to export it
It looks as if premiere pro might be able to do both whew, not that I've used it much (eek)

@GiantCowFilms Ack, you use Photoshop?!

What should I use

12:49 AM
I haven't touched that since I discovered GIMP.

@Gwenn I haven't touched gimp since I managed to get a copy of photoshop

I hated that program
I hate that program

It is unnecessarily hard to use

I will hate that program

12:50 AM
Disclaimer Not that I have significant experience with Photoshop. I just don't use software that I have to pay for.

@NoviceInDisguise agreed
@Gwenn I need the combined suit alot
....and since my parents fitted the bill....

@GiantCowFilms It's a matter of principle.

@GiantCowFilms try this one screentogif.codeplex.com not so fancy but good enough

@Gwenn I assume you use linux

Then again, I am a bit obsessive about frugality. Why work more when you can just streamline?

12:53 AM
@Chebhou I use licecap for that which works, its adding the text and animations

@GiantCowFilms Ubuntu.

figured
@Gwenn Its quite nice, I have an Ubuntu server, on which Blend-Exchange resides, and an Ubuntu VM I use for looking at things that smell a bit like virus
(since I simply have to know what this domain is that is sending my server 600 spam requests to known weaknesses in popular setups)

Last year, I spent most of 5 months trekking/backpacking at about $5/day in expenses, almost entirely food. And that is not frugal enough!

I can't relate at all
I like things nice, high quality, clean and to be better then everyone elses
...which of course, is never the case since my parents are pretty frugal about most things

@GiantCowFilms Oh, sure, I have a love of nice things too. Durable nice things.

12:59 AM
Durable works....

I did not say my gear was inexpensive.

Aaaaanyway...
Um, I realized that I was being an idiot before (at least once).

@Gwenn huh?

@GiantCowFilms You asked me to spend five minutes reading our conversation to tell you which of your jokes I liked, and I said that was "too much work" and then proceeded to give you over 2000 pages of reading.
/palmface

1:05 AM
@Chebhou I downloaded that once, but wow it has more feature then I though, thanks for the suggestion

Sorry about that.

Not at all
I'm pretty sure I did way worse
@Gwenn But I asked for it, you didn't

Though I do still highly recommend HPMOR.

@Gwenn could you spell that out "Harry Potter...." I've forgotten the rest of the title

@GiantCowFilms I know, I was just acknowledging the fact that I was an idiot.

1:06 AM
I need to see if our library has it

@GiantCowFilms "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality"

@Gwenn I don't think you're alone in that
Rats
not there

@GiantCowFilms The book is entirely online: hpmor.com

Just found it
Cool

I always advise this, but I'll say it anyway: if you decide to start reading it, make sure to stick through at least chapter 7.
As the author mentions, the book is widely considered to hit its stride around chapter 5

1:08 AM
It appears as if they have it as audio
Which is awesome!

Huh?

@GiantCowFilms Okay...if you're into that sort of thing...

Its much easier for me to concentrate and reflect on material if I listen to rather then read it
I also prefer it

All right then, I shouldn't diss it until I've tried it, I suppose.

1:11 AM
Yah, same stuff just read
for some it may go slower but I've never been that fast of a reader

What kind of books/etc do you like?

I liked hitchhikers and am looking into the Dirk Gently...? books I'm also have huge fan of nonfiction type thrillers, like this good one I'm reading now

@GiantCowFilms The first one is "Dirk Gently and the Holistic Detective Agency" and the second one is "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul" both by Douglas Adams.

Right
missed that whatever it was

Good :D

1:25 AM
There are alot of very quite people in here today
(and one very board one)

I'm not sure if all of them are active--you may have noticed that I leave my chat open 24 hours.
Just keeping people on their toes.

I do to, however SE says the were all seen within the last 30 or so secounds
This ubnutu VM is slow

@GiantCowFilms What are you doing in an Ubuntu VM?

I had it open 'cause I was visiting a suspect site, so I decided to switch over just 'cause
This lag creates the illusion of my keys being alot harder to push and "gooshier" then in my windows machine

How much RAM are you giving it?

1:30 AM
I think 8 gigs

I'm here, off and on.
My brother is home for Spring Break, so I am not online as much

Ah
you have more then one, right

So I alwasy wonder when you say "My Brother" which one you mean

One of them :)
Which may mean 1 of 2 or more
Or less
Or anything else really

1:33 AM
Half a brother?

No, thankfully

sqrt(-1) brothers?

BTW @GiantCowFilms , I don't talk much about myself now that you have shown stalking proficiency.
@Gwenn lol
That would be interesting

@Gwenn He imagines his siblings? I didn't know I've been conversing with a mad man!

Although that could work, as Imaginary brothers are quite feasible

1:36 AM
@NoviceInDisguise much nicer too, I can imagine

@GiantCowFilms I talk to myself all the time, I am extremely unsociable, I am OCD(ish), etc etc. I think I may be insane :)
I like it anyways
@GiantCowFilms I don't know, possibly

@NoviceInDisguise You seem fine here
@NoviceInDisguise well do you have anything left to hide :P

Yah, Internet personalities are known to not reflect the character of the user.
@GiantCowFilms Maybe
Maybe you are utterly wrong
Maybe not
Maybe anything else

@NoviceInDisguise Meth lab in your mapel syrup shed?

@NoviceInDisguise *Udderly wrong

1:38 AM
XD
Good one

@Gwenn pun alert!
I can smell a recurring joke

BTW, I could theoretically make a drone to come visit you, just letting you know . . .
I know how

really?
you have a drone!
cool!
sshh @X-27 might try to steal it
and you know what he'd do with it

I have experience with that sort of thing anywho
@GiantCowFilms I'll keep quite about it
Don't let him know where I am

1:41 AM
I am actually thinking of making a filming drone from scratch though, could be a good research project for over the summer
Quad-copter at least

Pro-Tip: Making me type in a password every 2 seconds is NOT going to help with the security, its just going to make me use a shorter password.

Maybe six or eight rotors

@NoviceInDisguise I've ALWAYS wanted to do that

@GiantCowFilms IKR

I even worked out the cost, and come up with a proposal to my parents

1:42 AM
@GiantCowFilms Me too :D Maybe I actually will be able to!

repelete with slide shows and spread sheets

Wow! What did they think?

They though my sister would be interested too

lol. What was the estimated cost?

$1.8k

1:43 AM
Ah . . . You can buy a good one for that much now

that is to lift my DSLR, lense and a gimble
@NoviceInDisguise Yah
but that was with nearly 2 kilo support weight

Biggish then

A good hang glider costs less than that.
Just saying.

Expensive stuff . . .
A Go-Pro Hero 4 is a good camera for aerial stuff though

@Gwenn I'm sure the medical bill from a crash in one of those would be way way way more then the $200 or so you could save

1:44 AM
Nice and light

@NoviceInDisguise X|
lense is too wide
I'd use a Black Magic Pocket Cinema camera

Depends what you are shooting

it is small light, and shoots amazing video

What is the relative cost?

and you can fit a fisheye onto it if you must
@NoviceInDisguise ?

1:45 AM
Also, is it waterproof?

@GiantCowFilms Hang gliders are actually pretty safe. With the training required in the US anyway, they're safer than riding a bicycle.

@GiantCowFilms GoPro vs Black Magic Pocket Cinema

The BMPCC is closer to a canon 5d then it is to a gopro
@NoviceInDisguise Gopro is tough

If I remembered that stat properly.

Pocket cinema camera shoots 13 stops of dynamic range

1:46 AM
Exactly, I need something tough. That would be worth a lot.
@GiantCowFilms Nice!

Wait, wait. I thought you said "from scratch".

@Gwenn Not the camera

Building a camera from scratch . . . Yikes! :|

That would be hard

1:47 AM
Yah

Very, make your own lenses, solder your own circuits, etc. etc.

I could image it being just a bit fustrating

Mine and smelt your own iron ore.

And the result would be crap anyways

1:48 AM
@NoviceInDisguise manufacture your own silicon wafers
(eek)

Oh man . . .

Gods no!

It is like saying in order to make a cake from scratch you have to grow your own wheat, grind it, grow and concentrate your own sugar, etc etc.

And after all that you forget it in the oven and it burns

Ever heard of a timer?
:D

1:50 AM

Oh wow . . .

pice of cake

I just realized that if I can keep up this rate of messaging I'll have caught @Gwenn in a months time

Huh, keep going

1:51 AM
Huh?

I'm not ambitious that way
@Gwenn number of messages in chat

@Gwenn Number of chat messages

@GiantCowFilms Beat you :D

@NoviceInDisguise jinxed you
:P

Jinx is a cat
A black one

1:52 AM
@NoviceInDisguise Yah, I wonder if you can get a loud mouth badge for having the most messages in a gereral chat

He runs across the road every time I walk up the road

Wait...I have a lot of messages in chat? When did that happen?

@GiantCowFilms That would be a good one XD
@Gwenn IDK

Well, I know when that happened, but I have very little recollection of it.

@Gwenn What is this, minecraft?

1:53 AM
@Gwenn You don't even have 1% of messages
@gandalf3 you game?
I vaugely remember you saying you didn't

Not so much

Minecraft? Who plays that anyways?

@gandalf3 Iron comes from somewhere!

Everysingle boy my age that I know (dumb pun)

I don't

1:54 AM
I used to play Minecraft, back in the day.

It is . . . maybe I should keep my opinions actually

@NoviceInDisguise I don't either

lol

the pun?

1:54 AM
OK, I don't play much for games though anywyas

no

@GiantCowFilms I actually interpreted it the other way on first read.

@GiantCowFilms I blend

@Gwenn XD

I play music mostly

1:55 AM
Instrument?

@NoviceInDisguise Cool

@Gwenn I do assure that every boy my age is single, or at least the ones I talk to

Piano, Pennywhistle, Guitar
Etc

@Gwenn no, he uses crude primitive tools
@NoviceInDisguise So you do like the guitar
but how about twitter

On good days

1:56 AM
I think that the only thing missing is you being in newyork

so I guess you don't own that twitter, rats

possible
or not
:D
maybe
could be anywho

Alot of things do add up though, but that one doesn't quite
@NoviceInDisguise anywho are you?
:P
Does anyone else here constantly hit the rate limiting?

?

1:59 AM
I did for a good long time
@Gwenn timeout on posting a message

@Gwenn try typing lots of things really fast
If I keep talking
at some point SE will stop trusting me
and make me wait to post my message
