Well, if it's a duplicate it is a duplicate, so the mods delete it because little to similar and may well be because it is kinda left alone, and down-voted, and doesn't really receive enough attention, so it's basically abandoned and left alone, so why not delete it? I seem to agree with the mod...

Q: How did I get the Clean-Up Duty hat?

A few days ago, I switched from using the iOS app to the full site on my iPhone. Surprise! At some point over the previous few days, I had earned the Clean-Up Duty hat. @DavidPostill we believe it's "edit a question and have it upvoted afterwards", or similar. might have to have an answer. tag edits work, but so do title edits, so it's likely body edits do as well. something else has to happen after you edit though, since the wait is abnormally (>3 hours?) long, upvoting is the main hypothesis

@jknappen no, it is NOT for the same post, it's just in general, you don't need to spam comments on a post

@Riker I edit a lot of posts (title and/or body and/or tags) but I rarely upvote (unless it is an exceptionally well asked question - which probably wouldn't require editing in the first place - unless it is to inline images for a new user).

also, it may need to have an existing (accepted?) answer already, when I upvoted for vickel I believe he didn't get the hat, but when somebody else tried again it worked (and that one had an answer)

@Riker not for me. I got the hat from one of these two posts [1] and [2] (quickly awarded afterward). There were no votes cast, nor any other activity that showed. Kind of stumped me because I can not replicate it on another site.

On the blog we are told "that on January 2 all hats will be taken back to storage." Does that mean the Winter bash includes the second or is the first the last day? Times help clear up ambiguity: WB ends on Jan 2 0000 UCT or Jan 3 0000 UCT?
