Q: Implementing a joint differential equation and eigenvalue solver

Amirhossein RezaeiI've written a Python script to solve a system of coupled differential equations and then use the results to solve an eigenvalue problem. The full problem is: And This is my approach for solving this problem: import numpy as np from scipy.integrate import solve_bvp from scipy.interpolate import...

Q: Lightweight utility classes to format text in columns

Kay ZedI am working on some helper classes to format console output and to write results to files formatted in columns. That's the big keyword here - columns. The target framework is .NET 8. Nullable disabled. It is working as expected, but some work is still to be done (see to-be-done list in code comm...

@pacmaninbw Clearly a copy-paste error. Fixed and dropped from queue.
@Mast: I don't think that was the correct edit.
Ooh, the top block is missing a bit.
@toolic How about now?
Somehow I missed the first function.
@Mast: That looks better. I will copy the code soon and see if there are syntax errors. If not, I'll post an answer.
I like how he's doing function definitions before importing the builtins those functions use...
... which will be part of my answer :)
18:39
All those \\ can be exchanged with /, imports should go at top.
@toolic Have fun.
Oh right, chat escapes those too.
Please note that minor copy paste mistakes are usually fixed, not closed.
Also, this question is from '18.
As for what is and isn't a minor mistake... That's not a very clear line.
@Mast: There are other syntax errors. It looks like the code was copied as snippets from different files. I voted to close because the code does not work. This question should be closed.
Such as?
@Mast: The next error is dst_dir. Try it for yourself.
I usually don't try code that requires third-party files I don't have.
src_dir= "C:\\a\\dir\\Desktop" and dst_dir= "C:\\a\\different\\dir\\TESTPYTHONFILES" look valid as long as those directories exist.
@Mast: Wrong line. This is the line with the problem:
dst_file = os.path.join(dst_dir, old_file_name)
just try it :)
I've beaten this dead horse
18:52
Circular reference for old_file_name, I wonder how that's going to resolve. Probably not.
Hm. That must mean there's 3 additional lines part of the function.
Indented another 3 lines.
@toolic Should be fine now :-)
> I found the copy_rename function which helped a ton.
@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ Nice catch, clearly heavily borrowed.
Incl. the missing whitespace in shutil.copy(src_file,dst_dir)

Q: Command Line Photo Size Reduction Tool - version 3

pacmaninbwThis is the third version of the photo size reduction tool for code review. The previous reviews are Resize 200 photos quickly in C++ using opencv and Photo Reduction Tool version 2 - Possible reinvention of the wheel. How this version differs from the second version: In addition to the previous...

@Mast: Now the syntax errors are gone. I deleted my comment.
I also retracted my close vote.
@toolic @pacmaninbw Glad to be of service :-)

@pacmaninbw Sorry was MIA. Mast's edits look great.

@Peilonrayz [tangent] years ago when I was getting my feet wet in IT I misspelled "PCMCIA" and typed it as PCMIA... a retired military colleague found it amusing
@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ I've never heard of "PCMCIA". D: Looking up what PCMCIA is, yeah I can imagine why people'd find the typo amusing ;)

@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ @Peilonrayz ^^

go figure...

PCMIA is when you've misplaced your system.
basically...
@Mast Or maybe just when when you want to be really rude.
I wonder what going to happen to politically correct in the next 4 years.
