This is part 2 of Day 4 of 2024's AoC: The problem is as follows:
It's an X-MAS puzzle in which you're supposed to find two MAS in the shape of an X. One way to achieve that is like this:
M.S
.A.
M.S
Irrelevant characters have again been replaced with . in the above diagram. Within the X, ea...
If you have working code that you want to have reviewed for improvements, your question belongs on Code Review, which was created specifically for that purpose. — Ken White44 secs ago
@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ: I see from the timeline that you cast a close vote on the question. It also shows "Review completed". I guess this is why the question does not show up in the Close Review Queue for me.
Apparently, this is a "feature" instead of a "bug". I guess if a Moderator casts a close vote, the question is not immediately closed, but it prevents the question from entering the review queue for others to see. Is that how it works? It seems odd.
@Mast Unfortunately the old ones are out of production and getting expensive, and the new ones are substantially more improved anyway. Just a matter of figuring out all the potential pain-points
Ah, @brian d foy re-opened because he wanted to do a code review. But this is a code review site. That's not a valid reason for not being a dupe. — ikegami17 secs ago
I'm solving a linear programming problem, made of many small problems with some common shared constraints, meaning that they are all together.
Each individual unit has constraints unique to the unit and also global constraints which are influenced by all units. I've implemented this by making the...
The code is a Linux command line photo size reduction tools. It reduces the size of all the photos in a directory. It may work on Windows 10, but it has not been built or tested on Windows. It takes about 2.3 seconds to resize 20 photos.
This is my first use of the opencv library and boost progra...
> Moderator votes are binding. Any place we have voting — close, open, delete, undelete, offensive, migration, etc. — that vote will reach the threshold and take effect immediately if a single moderator casts a vote.
@toolic I voted to Edit .... not close
> The Edit option should be reserved for when the question is close-worthy as written, but when you believe you can rescue the question to make it allowable for the site. This may mean adding in details that the asker left in comments or making slight adjustments to an opinion-based question so that it's objective. Don’t make minor edits if the question would be closed even with these changes, as it will remove the question from review.
@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ: Thanks for the reply. I am still confused. I did not vote to close, and you did not vote to close. Yet, this question does not show up in the review queue for me.
@toolic If a moderator casts a close vote, the question is immediately closed.
@DerKommissar Finding replacements is one of my jobs, but usually we try to stay within the replacements presented by the same manufacturer. They should not have major inconsistencies between them, but that's theory. In practice.....
Im making a physics Engine using Pygame revolving around 2 particles and there collisions. As of now if you run the code, there will be 2 particles reflecting there x axis per collision. As of now, I cant find a way to accurately apply the same effect to the y axis when the particles are bouncing...
@toolic binding votes are typically colloquially called a 'hammer'. Likely derived from the 'ban hammer' term. Moderator votes are always binding, but can also have additional effects. For instance deleting a post as a moderator means no-one can vote to undelete the post.
Actually I made a mistake in my copying - it entered the queue at 2024-12-19 16:46:55Z, and was completed at the other timestamp, which was when I submitted the edit
