Q: My handmade AdaGrad for NN

蔡嘉祥Recently I'm practicing Backward Propagation algorithm, and I decide to imitate PyTorch style to write my BP algorithm. I write all of my algorithm by numpy + scipy. My work is at https://github.com/Tsai-chia-hsiang/MLcourseHW/tree/main/Backpropagation It seems Ok when I run some samples (differe...

This is best posted at codereview.stackexchange.com. There's not enough information to decide though. Are you trying to prevent the caller from making a bad query? How will the caller know which method to call? Do you want it to know? — Panagiotis Kanavos 45 secs ago

@mplungjan yes I agree with you, even if IMO these points should be more suitable to Code Review SE. I could have added dynamic bottle creation to make the code generic, but judging the level of the question, I wanted the OP to be able to compare both codes easily to see which changes make it work, adding an edit though — Kaddath 45 secs ago

You probably want to post this to codereview instead. — tim the fiend 36 secs ago
@timthefiend: not with the code given here. CodeReview wants code that actually works. — Thomas Weller 40 secs ago

@Duga sigh
12:58
@Duga Sorry, @pacmaninbw the lock likely is going to prevent you from getting some rep. I've tested and the Wiki Answer would allow votes, but no new answers. Additionally the banner would make no sense. "This question's answers are a community effort. Edit existing answers to improve this post. It is not currently accepting new answers or interactions."

Hey @Peilonrayz
I was wondering what can be done about the posts? I don't want to get kicked out of that class
He mentioned that if I don't remove it, it would be seen as a violation and basically the same as handing out the answers to the assignment

Q: Is my C code for a simple CLI arbitrary-precision Mandelbrot set calculator (for a single point) good?

schuelermineI wrote the following C code that takes a couple of arguments on the command line and calculates a given number of iterations of the Mandelbrot set complex mapping using MPFR arbitrary precision arithmetic. Is it well-written? Does it have undefined behaviour or is unsafe? If you want to try it, ...

@jpf Well, to the best of your abilities you did remove the code. Just a 'meany' (me) is preventing you from deleting the content. I have two questions 1. when is the assignment due? 2. What is your professor's opinion being overruled -- would the professor accept you have taken your best effort to remove the content?
sorry, /opinion being/opinion about being/s

It's still due in 2 weeks, and he did seem very serious about this, he mentioned it would likely be escalated in to the dean's office if it was promptly removed. My university tends to take these matter very seriously, and I've seen people get in trouble for smaller things.
Again, I'd like to say I empathise you're in a difficult position. Could I ask you to ask your professor, what is your professor's opinion about the current situation -- where you do not have the power to fulfil the professor's request?
From my end I'd need to talk to my co-mods and possibly get insight from some members of the community. As I also would be in trouble if I act in a manner the site doesn't agree with. Talking with people could take some time, so I'd like for us to explore both avenues to possible success.

@Peilonrayz I understand. I'm already over 22K so I can handle it. I was wondering about that question when they added that it was an assignment.
I was the one that added homework to the tags.
@jpf Don't post homework assignments until you have turned them in. Getting a review here before the assignment is turned in might be considered cheating.
Both of the people that answered both of your questions are C++ professionals.

Q: Python script that maps natural numbers to lattices in a spiral-like manner

Ξένη ΓήινοςThis is a Python script that maps natural numbers to lattice points in a spiral like manner. It maps all natural numbers to all points with integer coordinates, and it produces a list of coordinates of the first n vertices in the spiral for given input n. The spiral is grown in such a manner, sta...

General advice questions are usually not encouraged on Stack Overflow. If your code already works, but you want to see if it can be improved, you could post it to codereview.stackexchange.com. (They have very specific rules for posts, so please read them carefully before posting there.) — Nate Eldredge 51 secs ago

Q: quickselect algorithm impelementation and its time-complexity

Soner from The Ottoman EmpireI try to write code to find kth smallest element in the array by renowned algorithm, quickselect. What point are there to be improved? @Peilonrayz He just came back to me and said that he would have to fail me in that case and that I'd be sent over to the dean's office as well since he considers this cheating
20:08
@jpf Please can you tell me the date, time and time zone the assignment is due? Alternately the date and time in UTC+0. Also please understand I've tried to help you out, out of empathy for the position you're in. Not doing something to cheat, and then being treated by your school as a cheater. I've asked a few people and we're ok with bending the rules for you today. Please understand you are no longer in a position of ignorance, so I, for one, am not going to be empathetic going forward.

@Reinderien Can you point to the AI?
renaming variables, adding new functions..
possible answer invalidation by Nickotine on question by Nickotine: codereview.stackexchange.com/posts/285770/revisions
@Reinderien Yes. What part of the answer is invalidated?
23:00
[our threshold for AI is usually fairly low, but nevertheless] - Kate references "your function", but with a new function introduced that's now been made ambiguous.
@Peilonrayz I don't know the programming language so I can say.
Sorry, but if "your function" is all the AI you're talking about I will ask you to convince a different moderator.
