You can use multi layer architecture in MVC too. We can't really comment because a) it's largely opinion based and b) we can't see any code even if we wanted to talk about it. To be honest though it sounds like maybe your MVC code just needs some optimising. There is a Code Review stack exchange site - check their guidance to see if your question, or a new version of it focusing on the MVC, would fit in there — ADyson 43 secs ago

@largest_prime_is_463035818 might be some linting tools that can do that (I personally don't know). However I feel that in this case just good practices and code reviews should be enough. I mean most likely you either have a mess of a legacy code with new and char* everywhere or you have a modern codebase. — bolov 19 secs ago
It's valid C#. You can't make the compiler pretend it isn't. If you're trying to stop people from writing this kind of code, then make sure you have a code review process and then people can learn. — ADyson just now

@scotty3785 While this may be on-topic on CR, in the future, please don't use the existence of the Code Review site as a reason to close a question. It looks fine. Note, that StackOverflow is usually for questions about problems, that you didn't solve, yet. If you want suggestions about further improvements to working code, try codereview.stackexchange.com instead. — Martin Grey just now
@MartinGrey when suggesting users post on CR it would be great if there was also a suggestion like "Please read the relevant help center pages like 'What topics can I ask about here?' and 'How do I ask a good question?". In the current form the code above would likely be closed as off-topic because it is missing context - the sql tag has specific guidelines and OPs should read the tag info first to include sufficient info. — Sᴀᴍ Onᴇᴌᴀ 22 secs ago

Q: Is this a safe way to send :user_id?

John O'Briennew RoR user here. I'm creating a simple goal setting app in rails. @Malachi - is there something in particular that's not correct about saying this question is better asked on Code Review? Because it sure does fit the criteria...working code that the OP wants to improve. Please look at the Help Center before saying this type of question shouldn't be recommended for Code Review. — devlin carnate 8 secs ago
@devlincarnate when suggesting users post on CR it would be great if there was also a suggestion like "Please read the relevant help center pages like 'What topics can I ask about here?' and 'How do I ask a good question?". The way the OP describes the code almost makes it sound like it isn't working correctly to the best of the OPs knowledge, which is imperative for review. — Sᴀᴍ Onᴇᴌᴀ 59 secs ago
@devlincarnate it isn't the case that the post is not better asked on CR. We just see too many posts get closed as off-topic because there is not enough detail, code for context or in some cases the OPs ask for features to be added, which is off-topic. — Sᴀᴍ Onᴇᴌᴀ 28 secs ago

@daddygames It works. it does the job. If the purpose of the code is simple and/or the performance doesn't matter, then it really doesn't matter if the other code is used. <-- Yeah, sorry but statements like these are the reason why the same bad coding patterns continue to propagate. If your job is to write code and you tell your boss during a code review, "it works", you're in for a talking to. — Scott Marcus 23 secs ago

@Steven Well, the biggest problems are that math and stateCalculator are not used and stateCalculator shouldn't be converted to str. There are some subtler problems too, like the wrong casing of class names, and pointless conversion float(str()) since it's already an int. If you wanted more explanation, you could post on Code Review and lmk, but you'd need to provide complete code. — wjandrea 9 secs ago
23:42
@Kerni If by "compile" you mean "run to completion" -- I ended up killing it before then, but at least it didn't crash. Code Review is another stack exchange community which is a good place to ask about improving the code. Ultimately, VBA just isn't very fast and isn't ideal for computations that takes tens of millions of steps. The blog Newton Excel Bach has some interesting articles for using Excel for serious STEM computations. — John Coleman 40 secs ago
