RELOAD! There are 6330 unanswered questions (90.0614% answered)

@Duga rolled back. It certainly helps when they add Edit: Just wanted to update this so there isn't any confusion and people don't give suggestions that I've already applied. Below I am adding an updated script with the changes/suggestions everyone has helped give.
@Duga I'm no PHP expert and ugh... jQuery... I'll let @Mast or @Vogel612 decide if this is any invalidation

@SimonForsberg only edits the JS, but the review only talks about the PHP

@SimonForsberg I see no invalidation (PHP + JS).

@Vogel612 It's Monday. More coffee?

notably it's a dreary grey monday and I haven't quite finished my first coffee yet.

@Vogel612 My flag stats, nooooo.... >:( /s

slept like a rock until 10:30 and then wasted away an hour browsing twitter
@Peilonrayz to elaborate the message a bit: It's fine if there are answers to off-topic questions in comments, because we don't care about these having the proper answer status
if the question is off-topic the answers to that question don't necessarily need to follow the same rigor as those to on-topic questions
answers in comments are deleted to allow for voting and commenting, neither of which is needed for "off-topic answers"

@Vogel612 Rule of thumb is still that off-topic questions shouldn't be answered at all, correct?

11:17 AM
I disagree, closing prevents answers because answering off-topic things encourages behavior we don't want. Saying "it's fine in comments" kinda just 180s that mentality. Allowing people to do things that should be discourage cause "meh, it's off-topic".

@Mast ya
maybe I should clarify that I'm not laying down policy here, it's just how I handled the flags in this specific case (and probably would again)

@Edward Over the weekend did you dream you were a giant transistor wearing a tuxedo?

I have a 22-year-old daughter. Silly things I say get tweeted extremely often!

Scott C Reynolds on December 23, 2019

Marla was dead to him, to begin with. There was no doubt about that. Marla had been his best partner, the back-end architect yin to his senior front-end engineer yang. But she quit a few weeks ago, leaving Stu, possessed of only the faintest knowledge of services (both serverful and serverless), to implement the new API.

Stu watched as the Slacks dwindled to a light trickle of GIFs and his coworkers left for the holidays, strains of the favorite joke of office comedians around the world filled the open floorplan. Yes, I will see you next year Tim, because it is almost New Year’s. How droll, Tim. How droll. …

@pacmaninbw Why yes. Yes I did.

@Edward Excellent.

Interesting having ESP over the internet!

If it's over the internet, does it still count as ESP?
I predict the next symbol will be .... a star!

Basically my dream was building up to a dragon fight

3:27 PM
@DerKommissar Are you going to have to borrow Kaz's armor?

No armor

@DerKommissar Sounds like a build-up to a drag-on fight, where the hero has to be dragged kicking and screaming into the arena.

I'll see myself out now :P

Though I did meet Merlin or King Arthur, we're not sure who
He gave me a sword we're assuming was Excalibur
Then he died and I absorbed his life force
Which was nice of him

If you make a movie, it could be a cross between "Game of Thrones" and "Waiting for Godot."
You'll save a ton on CGI.

I need to write a book first

3:30 PM
Go straight to a screen play.
Although you could publish the game first
@DerKommissar ^^

lol
Writing a book is hard. I've been writing mine for years and it's not even close to finished.
Too much research.

@Mast What is the subject?

@Mast I make my living doing research and I empathize.

@pacmaninbw I could /shrug

@pacmaninbw Time travel, rebooting humanity. Found too many books doing improbable things, so I thought I'd do it right.

3:34 PM
Are you Dr Who?

@pacmaninbw Dungeons and Dragons is already a thing

In the meantime I'm helping other writers by reviewing their manuscripts.
@pacmaninbw Depends on who's asking.

@Edward What's weird is my subconscious found a way to loosely connect weird things I already know
Like, no research required.

@DerKommissar I wrote you a limerick.

@DerKommissar Dreams do that sometimes. They come up with the most wacky things, things you couldn't possibly have thought together yourself.

3:36 PM
Der Kommissar strolled in a cave
Feeling all fighty and brave
A dragon came by
Looking terribly high
And said, "hey, man, is this the rave?"
8

But the "facts" were things like "there are 13 world wonders, but the wizards stole 6 from us because we didn't deserve them."
2

Long shot... but does anyone here own a Remarkable tablet? It's an e-ink based tablet on which you can write, draw, etc. with a special pencil

@Edward No cave, we were in some library / chapel / castle building thing

@Edward Is it still a limerick if there's no specific place mentioned?

@skiwi I'd say my HP Spectre is pretty Remarkable.
Especially when you think about 100 years ago.

3:37 PM
@skiwi I have paper and a scanner.

@Mast :P

@DerKommissar Sounds like the start of an anime.

@skiwi I have a cheaper thing: the Boogie Board.

@Mast after all these interesting discussions, do you still need more coffee?

I'm about to put some grappa in mine...

3:39 PM
@Mast Live-action

@Edward Huh, it's not an electronic device though?

@DerKommissar Thanks, now I learned there is such a thing as live-action anime.

Gross

@skiwi It is electronic - just very simple. A single button to erase the screen. That's it.

@DerKommissar What's gross?

3:42 PM
@pacmaninbw Nah, in an hour it's pizza time. So I'm now in that timeframe where it's too late for coffee and only just too early for beer.

Anime in any form, especially live-action.

@Edward I mean you cannot connect it to PC, etc.?

@skiwi That word, that does not mean what you think it does.

@skiwi The early version I have, no. Can't save or copy -- only erase.
I use it as a scratch pad, e.g. to take notes on a phone call.

@Mast But you know what I mean :D

3:44 PM
@Edward So, like a whiteboard that doesn't wear down? Infinite memos?

I got to use that Remarkable tablet at work and it's really awesome, but also expensive

@Mast Not quite infinite. I've had it for about 7 years and have replaced the non-replaceable battery twice.
Diassemble, pry apart the plastic case, unsolder the coin battery, resolder a new coin battery...

lol, not exactly replaceable indeed :D

The next time it dies, I'm going to just leave a hole in the case and put in a coin-cell holder

Why would you solder a coin battery in place?

3:46 PM
Cheap.

Couldn't you just use a spring mechanism to hold it in, though?
Which would probably be even cheaper?

@Hosch250 Like on a motherboard? Sure. That's what he's going to do next round.

@Mast Or a TV remote.

TV remotes use penlites here.
AAA nowadays.
AA in the past.

I guess I'm thinking of our stereo remote.

3:48 PM
@Hosch250 Paradoxically, no. It requires more custom mechanical engineering and also makes it slightly less reliable. E.g. if you drop it, the battery can get dislodged.

OK.

Besides, most people will now buy a new one instead of a new battery.

If it was me, I'd just make it like a stereo remote that has a slide-out slot that holds the battery to make it easy to replace.

@Mast Yes, definitely. They don't even make the model I have any more.

There's entire ranges of phones pulling that rick.

3:49 PM
@Mast AKA iPhonies.

@Edward Is an airpod like a building block of an airhead's brain, or something?

@Hosch250 There is considerable evidence to support that hypothesis.

@Hosch250 Based on the name you'd say it's an iPod in the cloud...

@Mast Hmmm.
An OS built with serverless technology hosted in the cloud?
Needs "real" OSes to run it :D

3:54 PM
Call it iLost

@Edward The manufacturer considering them consumables/disposables, that's just evil.

@Mast Emphatically agree!

@Hosch250 Eh, the iPod wasn't an OS.

iArcheology.

> We've created 135,547 happy losers!
I kid you not.

3:57 PM
I should have known!

@Mast Muahahaha.

Well, y'all. I'm going to spend a couple of hours cleaning up my office.
Ciao!

@Edward Have fun, don't get lost.

I have a guide rope tied to a heavy old computer. I should be OK.
3

lol
2
Wouldn't surprise me if there are multiple old, heavy computers in your office.

4:00 PM
Like this perhaps?

@Edward FWIW Ozzy Osborne used to do Garmin commercials using it to find the bathroom in his house, and considering how much acid, PCP and cocaine he's done in his life I wouldn't be surprised if he actually needed one.

Ha!

@Edward Shiny.

4:19 PM
@Edward that had been the first computer I have used.
A short while later it had been the Commodore 8032 like this obsoletecomputermuseum.org/cbm8032
