Q: Avoiding clone() in an iterator over a Vec<Enum>: an idiomatic solution?

RedDreeI have a piece of working code that takes some strings from Consul configuration exports, sanitizes them a little and converts them into valid json and/or hocon structures. While I am iterating over a vector of Nodes in the process function, I couldn't come up with a better solution than having...

15:04
All functions in std::string are thread-safe. However, using multithreading, you have a bunch of other ways to shoot yourself in the foot. This may or may not show inside those functions, but it sure isn't caused by them. If you need advise with your code, consider codereview.stackexchange.com or, if you know it to be buggy, extract a minimal reproducible example and post that here. As a new user, also take the tour and read How to Ask. — Ulrich Eckhardt 14 secs ago

@Mast I would have to go through the answer to see whether this has an impact on it.
I would advise a rollback nevertheless. Don't add code after answer was made.
There is no added value.

Well the safety is as strong as the weaked link, so if the authentication method/layer is leak the whole system after is unsafe.. Also consider reasking this on codereview.stackexchange.com or security.stackexchange.com as this question is more or less in the gray area of been considerd offtopic here.. As stackoverflow is meant for non working code.. — Raymond Nijland 49 secs ago

@Vogel612 Not looking for the review of my code I don't know about this, very unfortunate statement of OP
and question is now open on both platforms

the latter isn't necessarily problematic
there's nothing wrong "per se" with crossposts
perhaps some sanitizing of the question wouldn't hurt then
that's a very good edit

Q: 99 beers song in Rust

ZorgatoneI'm learning Rust. I find it sometimes confusing when compared to other programming languages, especially when dealing with strings and slices. @dfhwze most of it is just formatting cleanup and removing duplicated information
@Vogel612 well I didn't feel up to it, it was so messy.
yea, it's not easy to muster up the effort for something tedious like that

Important to see, folk who are following....
I hope this means that tensions can go down and the communities can heal.
Many of the mods have (behind he scenes and not so behind the scenes) been pushing things through with the SE staff.
In my opinion, this is a big deal, but I need time to digest what it means.... It is, at face value, the apology that should have been made.
@rolfl at face value yes
This is very significant to me: "Second, we hurt a longstanding member of the community and an important volunteer moderator. She deserved the benefit of a private, comprehensive process. "
21:48
@rolfl as an aside, it's kinda interesting that the CTO is respnosible for the community team
Yeah, T maybe means something different, or, the community is just a technology to leverage?
considering that Community has a comparatively large stake in technical decisions it may not be terrible, but it's also not something I would call "conventional"

It's going to be difficult. They are going to need to make amends without backpedaling so fast that they step on the people they were supposedly protecting in the first place. I know they addressed that but it is my biggest concern.
Making amends isn't necessarily entangled with backpedaling
and I don't see anything that would indicate backpedaling on the policy front in that post, though I might just have missed it...

Q: Dear Stack Exchange - a statement and a letter from your moderators

ArtOfCodeDear Stack Exchange, Inc., We know you know about this already, so we'll keep this brief. The past two weeks have been rough.
