Alexander JohnI'm just looking for feedback on how I could improve this simple program. Whether it be comments for better understanding or better variable names. @EBrown haha that's excellent!
@Mat'sMug Hah, it makes me almost want to move to Canada. ;)

(@Phrancis knows)
Hah, I totally forgot about him. Lmao

@Mat'sMug What is that?
(Obviously La Fin Du Monde but I have no idea what any of that means.)

9% ...That's like, what, 3 US beers?
@Mat'sMug To be fair, my preferred beer is an 8% by vol.
00:37
You'd probably love that one then
I wonder if there's anywhere to get it in the U.S.
not sure. Unibroue used to be an independent brewer
My girlfriend just made a "If we lived in Canada" healthcare joke...about my back...

@Mat'sMug Dude holy s**t there's a store that sells it ~4mi away from me.
00:40
Nice!

aka next door
Yes
Try them all!
I might have to if this one is good.
Good thing about living close-ish to Canada: imports are cheaper.
00:44
@Mat'sMug USA do have some strong and yummy beers, usually from small breweries
It's strong. La Blanche de Chambly is lighter. The brewry won many awards throughout the years anyway
@EBrown where are you at anyway?
@Mat'sMug The closes store to me that sells that is ~10mi away.
@Mat'sMug Toledo, OH. 43615.
If I put in the right zip code I can get La fin du Monde ~3.3mi away, gonna go after work tomorrow.
FWIW it's not my favorite one.. just happened to be the first one I thought of in terms of "strong beer"
A tout le Monde is ~4.4mi away from me
Never tried that one
00:51
I can get all but 3 at a place called Liquor Cabinet ~8mi from me.
Might go there this weekend if I like the La Fin du Monde.
It's in a part of town I never go to, lol.
But it's by a Kroger so I can go grocery shopping afterwards.
01:06

It depends on the code/algorithm behind "lots of big divergent control structures". You wrote that the CPU version needed about 98% processing time. What's the ratio of the (partially) GPU version? And how long does prereq_stuff run in comparison to do_work on_gpu. I am not sure if there is a good general answer and this question might be better asked on Code Review. — Shadow just now

09:34
@Mast To be honest, I'm not sure whether a complete regex would hit the character limit.
09:47
@Zeta The limit is 65k, so I'd think it fits.
@Zeta Correctly parenthesized expressions are not a regular language. Parsing them with regex always involves shenanigans. Most early flavors of Regex have no chance to even do it.
and since the structure is probably defined inductively, a regex cannot be used.
what's necessary is at least a Type 2 grammar, so... EBNF?

SO isn't a code review service. — skypjack 36 secs ago
This answer would be much better if there were some kind of explanation of what's going on. I can't help thinking it's far more complicated than it needs to be; and I have serious doubts about whether it covers all the cases that it needs to. If code like this were submitted to me for code review, I would reject it immediately. — Dawood ibn Kareem 45 secs ago
No. "It works" isn't good enough for professional software development. Code needs to be testable, readable and maintainable. Otherwise, we wouldn't bother with code review - we'd just do system testing. — Dawood ibn Kareem 36 secs ago
@skypjack, actually we do have code review stack :) — CroCo 41 secs ago

See Code Review, for code reviews. However, the code must be working before you post there. — Thomas Matthews 40 secs ago

@Mat'sMug @Phrancis I got Blanche de Chambly and La fin du Monde.
@EBrown enjoy!
Just for fun, I tested your code. It allows a whole lot of characters other than Arabic ones. For example, with the input "مرحبا كيفك i'm fine and you كله تمام . كم عمرك . I like Ćevapčići" it gives the output "مرحبا كيفك كله تمام كم عمرك Ćčć". I don't think that's what OP wanted. It's cases like this that testing doesn't always uncover, which is why code review is so important. — Dawood ibn Kareem 37 secs ago

@Mat'sMug Blanche de Chambly really isn't bad at room-temp, I assume it's better cold.
Gosh, I hope you put the other one in the fridge
@Mat'sMug I put both in the fridge after I grabbed the first one.
