01:47
meh, we closed for less broken code before.
This question is getting downvotes because, having known issues, the code isn't quite ready to be peer reviewed. We require that the code works as intended (which seems to be the case), to the best of your knowledge (which isn't the case). This puts your post in a gray zone; to be fair for everyone and give you a chance to improve your post, I'll put it on hold while you debug and then edit the post with working code, so as to avoid invalidating answers with a later edit. I invite you to ask on Code Review Meta if you have any concerns. — Mat's Mug ♦ 34 secs ago
there, mess avoided - @all feel free to vote to reopen if you deem that closure unfair in anyway; IMO it's gray-area, and as a mod it feels a bit awkward to hammer gray-area stuff.

I don't know for sure, but this question might be more suited for codereview if this code works. Any one know? — en_Knight just now
@en_Knight Correct, although it's missing a bit of context and description of what it's doing, and it's a bit poorly titled for a CR question (lots of questions could have that exact same title). See a guide to CR for SO users for all the information. — Mat's Mug 50 secs ago

@Kidd I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding here
Hi Mat's Mug, the company info is more about the algorithm in the code(the standard of the testing)
"algorithm" isn't "info"
04:28
since this standard is considered as a company property, so legal department found out this and issues a serious warning

@Duga @SimonForsberg We got a problem here. If we want to make the edit stick, we'll have to close the question.
It may be the lesser evil though.
For now I've rolled it back and commented why, but it's dangerous territory.
@Mast Hold on...
@Mast I'm not sure that's necessary.
He flagged that question earlier, saying that he wanted to remove some sensitive information, and that it should not invalidate answers.
So are you sure that it invalidates answers?
Okay, I see your concerns now.

We can't accept questions exemplified that much.
So we can accept the edit, but it would make it immediately off-topic.
However, deletion would be unnecessary in that case, so it could be the lesser evil.
@Mast I don't think it's that examplish at the moment.
Also, it is the least worst option at the moment I believe.
The OP is concerned with the sensitive information, we're mostly concerned with invalidating answers.
I think of the current code as example project, rather than example code. And example projects are perfectly alright.

I am trying to think in solutions but we are permanently stuck in firefighting mode. It is very hard to think positive ATM
We've all been there.
So, let's start at the beginning: What's the goal?
Zak
Zak
12:00
@DanPantry Compartmentalise.
Make this project more maintainable, testable, etc.
Too broad. Make smaller goals.
Set priorities.
Try and decouple the client from the server in such a way that we can actually modify the data structures on the server without destroying everything because someone decided it was a good idea to tightly coulpe the two.
What is the minimum thing that should be improved will this refactor be a success?
Decoupling, good, that's a good goal.
Well my main problem is finding a place to actually refactor.
Everything needs to be, more or less.

Try to pick an extreme point.
Go from there.
The moment you encounter something that's in the wrong place, cut it out.
Move it.
I think I just need a break and to come back with fresh eyes
I can usually do that, @Mast, just not these past few days it seems
If it isn't raining (I've heard that sometimes happens around there, though rarely), take a walk. Get some air.
Stretch your legs. Come back after.
And don't start by reading the 2nd when you come back :P

Q: Dealing with points in quiz application in which user can receive points for other activities as well

Kamil LatosinskiI am developing a simple quizish application. Users receive points for answering questions as well as for other activities like sharing a question related article etc. I don't want to store redundant data so this is why I am asking this question. So, in a nutshell, I have questions table with p...

@CaptainObvious Does that count as actual code? Feels a lot more like a design review.
@Zak @Phrancis Opinion?
It's iffy.
He has included the CREATE, but not the INSERT. IIRC we need both.
But there's a meta about that somewhere.

Q: What's the proper way to ask for database review?

mikeTheLiarI'm currently designing a database that I wanted to get some input on. It's entirely theoretical at this point, I haven't written a single line of SQL. Would it be acceptable to just post the database diagrams that I've made, pointing out the specific areas that I'm unsure about? If not, what oth...

Q: Can graphical notation count as code or should questions with exclusively graphical notation be considered off topic?

smartcavemanAs a community, are we willing to accept graphical notation as a form of code that is subject to code review? I recently answered a question that asked for review of a database model as presented in an entity-relationship diagram. With this question, the the OP's intention would be clear to any...

Q: CoreData or code-backed UML reviews

Pimgd About: Core Data model for test-taking iOS app See also: Are UML diagram reviews on-topic for CodeReview? and Reviewing "design" I feel the linked question is off-topic because it is about a design-review, rather than a code-review. Key point: Here is my Core Data model: image of...

@Mast I very rarely vote as "Too Broad" here but I did in this case
@Phrancis If you leave a comment with why I'll probably join in.
I'm voting to close as too broad, as this does not appear to be requesting a code review, but rather a general review of a design. — Phrancis 6 secs ago
@chillworld here is what I want, but with a mouse pad to the right of the right hand keyboard as well
that was weird, it wouldn't let me upload it, I had to paste the link directly into the chat box.....
No more crossing into the other hand's zone
@Zak or the tab bar of their browser
there is a slack desktop app?
I must have killed chat because I didn't say Monking before everything else....

Monking
note to self, say monking first thing in the morning after getting coffee, then chat
@Malachi I need that chair
The struggle is real
@Malachi is the chair included?
@chillworld I don't know.
but merge that with a version of this
make the arms a little longer on the other chair and have a side mouse pad and I would buy one
@Malachi thinking of the colleague in front of me or the actual chair?
12:37
not now because I don't have the space
Greetings, Programs.
anyone who types with long fingernails has to be irritated all the time,
@Malachi, Wouldn't touchpad be better in this case?
Touchpads are horrible
2
I hate them
nah, they never made them good
12:39
I would rather use a mouse
think more of extension of a tablet
and also a lot bigger surface

@Malachi Touchpads which don't have left/right click keys are even worse
touch pads are better then the thing in the middle of the GHB keys
A pointing stick is an isometric joystick used as a pointing device, as with a touchpad or trackball, typically mounted in a computer keyboard. Movements of the pointing stick are echoed on the screen by movements of the pointer (or cursor) and other visual changes. The pointing stick senses applied force by using a pair of resistive strain gauges. A pointing stick can be used by pushing with the fingers in the general direction the user wants the cursor to move. The velocity of the pointer depends on the applied force so increasing pressure causes faster movement. The relation between pressure...

they should have put it between YHU

It seems that your code currently works, and you are looking to improve it. Generally these questions are too opinionated for this site, but you might find better luck at CodeReview.SE. Remember to read their requirements as they are a bit more strict than this site. — gunr2171 37 secs ago

Q: Get vertical acceleration from rotation vector and accelerometer values

BadCashMy goal here is to calculate the acceleration towards the ground, which I call "vertical acceleration". This seems to be working OK, but it's not 100% perfect. For example, if the phone spins in both X- and Y-axis at the same time it's falling towards the ground, I get quite inaccurate results....

Q: AM/PM to 24 hour Time Conversion

ShadowI recently joined the website www.hackerrank.com for programming challenges, and one of them was a time conversion from 12 hour to 24 hour.
