Sorry, 'is incorrect'.
@SjoerdJobPostmus My understanding of the criterion is if the user thinks the code works.
If the code doesn't work, then it's off-topic
It's not 'does not compile'-broken.
@Edward: That makes sense. Yes, the user thought it works.
it doesn't provide the correct output as to what the user wants, then, right?
@Quill
It provides an output, and the user probably thinks it is correct.
00:01
If there's, for example, a case that the user didn't think of, that can be a good basis for a useful code review.
Ok, got it.
I thought of a few edge-cases during writing my review. I'll add them as an appendix.
@SjoerdJobPostmus That sounds like a good approach.
@SjoerdJobPostmus I assume the rolled back version is the one you reviewed?
as in: I just reverted all the edits that OP made after your answer was posted

hmm... oh crap that might be more of a mess :/
00:08
But he made a lot of changes while I was reviewing.
(or she, btw)
that shouldn't be happening...
So it's not like they purposefully changed things after my review.
? How do you mean, should not be happening?
@SjoerdJobPostmus it's important that everyone agrees on what is up for review
00:09
@SjoerdJobPostmus Questios should not be altered after any answer is posted.
that cannot be the case when stuff changes while you review code
also what Edward said
Also, after posting please don't make any edits to your code. It can mess up review in progress as well as invalidate answers. — Easterly Irk 42 secs ago

@RubberDuck "Copyright (C) 2014-2015 Mathieu Guindon & Christopher McClellan".
Shouldn't that be 2016 by now? In your installer, license agreement window.
Anyone around? I have a quick design question.
08:14
@EBrown I'm not a designer, but you could drop it anyway.
It's not UI design, it's programme design.
Basically, I'm wondering how to go about the best way to design a bot which can be supplied different contexts that it can use to send messages.
So, the idea is to create an IMessageContext interface or similar, that either has: a single SendGlobalMessage(MessageLevel level, ...) method, or a method for each message level (I.e. SendGlobalImportantMessage(...), SendGlobalRegularMessage(...), etc.
I think I want to go with the SendGlobalMessage(MessageLevel level, ...), but then I wonder if I should change it to SendMessage(MessageType type, MessageLevel level, string target, ...) as well. The problem lies in that not every message type will have a target.
Some of them (global messages) have a single target.
I'm just trying to think from the aspect of expandability. If I make a single method that takes a MessageLevel enum, I can very easily add new levels without changing the interface contract.
What's the difference between a global and non-global message in your context?
Well some messages might be directed to a specific user in specific contexts.
Especially since some of your global messages only have one target.
The problem is, not every context will support every type.
So, for example, the StackExchangeChatMessageContext wouldn't support directed messages to specific users.
But the IrcMessageContext would.
Which means that any SendUserMessage(string targetUser, ...) calls on the StackExchangeChatMessageContext context would just be empty.
But the IrcMessageContext.SendUserMessage(string targetUser, ...) calls would actually do something.
But, on the other hand, global messages might have a selectable target in some contexts. You may choose to send an IRC message on a different channel.
But those would still be "global" messages.

So, I wonder if I shouldn't separate them into different methods by message type, and send all message types and levels to the same method.
Maybe I'll wait until Mat'sMug or Hosch250 get on.
Basically, the idea is to pass the IMessageContext to the bot so that it could post messages wherever necessary. And then I wonder if it shouldn't take a List<IMessageContext> so that messages can simultaneously be posted to multiple contexts.
Then you could easily log all your messages to a file or something, with a FileMessageContext or a SqlMessageContext next to your IrcMessageContext.
Blech, I think I'll need to do a bit more thinking about this before I get started.
@EBrown Sounds like you got a complex design for something that should be a lot simpler.
Can't you abstract it further?
@Mast What do you mean?
I'm pretty sure I've got the entirely wrong idea anyway.
I need to create a REST endpoint, which takes certain events (GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.) and posts them to a DB.
The bot then picks them up from that DB and sends them where they belong.
The problem lies in events that cannot be posted directly to the DB.
Things that have to be queried.
So, there should be another endpoint for data like that, and a programme which makes appropriate API calls to handle those events.
Blech, I'm too tired to think about all of this.
I think it's time for bed.
I'll tackle this issue in the morning.
Sounds complicated.
