Q: In C return scanf values from function

DeeTeeI am trying to write a subfunction in my calculator program to verify the operands. What I'd like the function to do is return the scanf inputs to the main() function. Here is the code I have used for the sub function: void checkOperand(float f1, float f2) { printf("Please enter two numbers ...

Q: Quick sort implementations

MAGI made a compendium of different known quick sort partitioning methods , implementations and pivot choosing methods. Any kind of improvement is welcome. Partitioning methods: namespace Particiones { void Bentley_McIlroy(int*& lo, int*& hi) { using std::swap; int pi...

23:20
@CaptainObvious void Bentley_McIlroy(int*& lo, int*& hi) {
god F# can be so weird sometimes
@EthanBierlein I think that generically applies to most programming languages
For example, searching on google "F# iterate over string" gives all sorts of weird solutions with String.iter or the like, when in reality it's a simple as this:
for character in my_string do
    ...
@EthanBierlein Lack of documentation, then?
Did you get my ping btw?
@EthanBierlein you'd prefer Haskell?
23:23
@AndyG - you are correct, and your other suggestions are valid. I did not do a full code review on the OPs code, just trying to help get it working. I'll edit my answer to reflect the suggestions you've made :) — CBRF23 31 secs ago
@SimonAndréForsberg I would rather program in Brainfuck professionally than use Haskell.
@Quill Which one?
@EthanBierlein On nth
Yeah, I think
professional BF erm, right
@EthanBierlein hmm.... me too, probably. Considering I definitely know Brainfuck better than Haskell.
23:25
Perhaps someone ought to make a brainfuck parser that turns it into JS, then
then you could really program in it
(joking)
You'd have to make sure that the user doesn't just input Javascript code
you know, some jokes turn into things like ...
@EthanBierlein or JS code that generates BF that generates JS...

Q: Why can't I mix generic type arguments if they all drill down to the constrained type

ShimmyI'm trying to make a subclass of this one: public class TenantUserStore< TUser, TRole, TContext, TKey, TTenantKey, TUserLogin, TUserRole, TUserClaim> : UserStore<TUser, TRole, TContext, TKey> where TUser : TenantUser<TKey, TTenantKey> where TRole : IdentityRole<TKey> where TCon...

That's off-topic... but it's kind of too bad...
@Quill Writing an Arnold interpreter?
That many generic constraints on a single class can't be good.
@Mast Already written
23:32
> brainfuck code is almost unintelligible unless you already have a clear idea of what the current state is.
No kidding...
That's the whole point.
note: "almost"
@CaptainObvious needs close votes
He's trying not to offend the experts.
overall, hevanet.com/cristofd/brainfuck is really interesting. Bookmarked!
@Mat'sMug Will my close vote do?
@SimonAndréForsberg well, mine did
I'm still looking for a better algorithm for

Q: How to speak Brainfuck: for beginners

MastThe following code transforms multi-line input into the the Brainfuck equivalent. One line turns into one program. The resulting programs are split by newlines for readability. Brainf.cpp #include "Brainf.hpp" int main() { std::vector<std::string> userInput; std::string currentLine = "...

23:34
;-)
@Mat'sMug good!
> First of all, let's not beat around the bush. Clearly your filenames should be Brainfuck.hpp and Brainfuck.cpp. Let's not be shy.
@Mast bookmarked that too
@SimonAndréForsberg Feel free to run with the idea and do something in Java
CPU-wise it's terribly efficient.
I can't promise when I'll look into it.
23:36
For Brainfuck standards, it's terribly efficient with memory as well.
All in-place modifications.
No need for multiple variables ^^
I'm designing a web app that will be using <canvas> for much of its UI
I'm deciding if I should put all of the content on a single page
or multiple pages
so X editor is on a certain page, while Y editor is on a different page
Well, when you've decided and you're ready for a review, let us know.
I'm looking for opinions
@SimonAndréForsberg His second interpreter looks really nice.
@NathanMerrill Sounds about architecture.
We don't do that.
correct. that's why I'm not making it a question
23:43
What language is it?
javascript, as its using <canvas>
There is multiple canvas.
Isn't there a JavaScript room for Stack Overflow?
Or perhaps find out if this is on-topic for Programmers.

That applies to here too, really. Don't be a help vampire anywhere.

Q: I need help on applying calendar on website

Adebayor Abdullahi OyebamijiI need to add calendar to my website and I've tried all best still I don't get it

@CaptainObvious That should just be deleted
@EthanBierlein It is.
23:49
Aaand it's gone
Probably by Simon, he's quick.
@CaptainObvious Gone in 60 seconds. Or well... close.
poof!

@Mat'sMug bang! pow! crash!

I clicked it and it had already been closed for 5 seconds.
The definition of a "help vampire" is a tough one, but let's put it like this @NathanMerrill: What would happen if we would answer questions that anyone would have that passes by this chat room?
our rule of thumb is: "no code, no clue -> hammer"

precisely what I was going to say ^^

@SimonAndréForsberg I agree, help vampire hard to define. Just found the above quote humourous on the link posted above
