I'm not saying beginners should ask there. But the implication that CR is SO-for-beginners is ludicrous.
@jww - we would close this question immediately on Code Review, because: ... because something in my authentication flow goes wrong.. means the code is not working. — rolfl 28 secs ago
@jww ChrisF is not a CR moderator. That said, several high-rep CR community members have explained to you multiple times why this question is not suitable for Code Review. If you are looking for more explanation regarding that, I invite you to post on the CR meta or come chat about it. — nhgrif 19 secs ago
@Duga flagged for moderator attention. comments is getting way too noisy.

@SimonAndréForsberg You are right -- this question does not even belong on Code Review. It belongs nowhere on StackExchange. There are plenty of absolute-beginner websites and fora. — Mörre Noseshine 36 secs ago
@rolfl don't know if you are aware with the history on that user... That discussion is way passed appropriate for that comments section
@jww The comments are getting way too noisy here (again), if you want to discuss this further, you are welcome to visit CR regulars in The 2nd Monitor chat room — Simon André Forsberg 16 secs ago
please, @nhgrif and @rolfl, don't comment more on that SO question. VTC as "unclear what you are asking" if anything.
12:06
@nhgrif - there's no need to discuss further. The CR Help Center tells me what's on-topic. Whether you follow the charter or not is a different debate. But I'm not interested in that since I don't have a dog in that fight. — jww 14 secs ago

Duga will soon become the most hated big brother on SO.
And the most loved big sister on CR and Programmers.
Sure, we are not "security experts", but are we expected to run all the code to make sure there is not a problem? If a question mentions that there is a problem, there is a problem, and it does not belong here.
3
That. If the owner knows there is a problem, he should fix it first.
If he doesn't know, then we'll talk
If he doesn't know, he should test it.
If he has tested it and not found a problem, then we'll talk.
If you'd like to discuss the on-topicness of this question for Code Review, then it's best to take that discussion to Code Review's Meta. A plain reading of the code review guidelines shows this is off topic because the code has a memory leak. "Something in my authentication flow goes wrong" indicates a problem. Code review isn't for code that has problems working, it's for code that works well; just needs to be refactored. — George Stocker ♦ just now

@Phrancis Always always always strict mode. No exceptions.
^^ heed this advice with JS ;)
Remember I don't know squat about JS? ^_^
Strict mode actually makes it a lot less wonky, and a lot more like other languages
So, no more unexpected type changes?
17:20
@Jamal Hi! Can ask you something?
Why you changed the title of my question?
@Mast Oh, you still get the type changes (remember, JS is dynamically typed, it's a feature not a bug)
But, it defines variable scope much better
you could use TypeScript if you're wanting type checking
@Jamal I think the original title is more helpful.
@DanLyons Is that an in-build function of JS?
@PaulVargas It is the policy of CR that titles should be about what the code does. We are all here to improve our code in one way or another.
@Phrancis I'll definitely take a look at it
It's a language to essentially write JavaScript with types which then compiles down to normal JavaScript
@PaulVargas All titles could essentially be: "How can I make this code better?", but then they wouldn't be very helpful titles, right?
As such, you get static type checking
// regular JS

var i = "hello";
for (var i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
    console.log(i); // 0,1,2,3,4
}
console.log(i); // 5

// strict mode ex 1

"use strict";
let i = "hello";
for (let i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
    let i = "foo"; // 0,1,2,3,4
}
console.log(i); // "hello"

// strict mode ex 2

"use strict";
let i = "hello";
for (let i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
    let i = "foo";
    console.log(i); // foo (x5)
}
console.log(i); // "hello"
@Mast ^^ See the differences?
17:24
@SimonAndréForsberg Can you give me a reference of this policy?
@DanLyons I could use it for my non-networking functions, I don't suppose it can handle Node.JS as well?
@Phrancis Never used let before, some fancy form of var?
> The let statement declares a block scope local variable, optionally initializing it to a value.
@SimonAndréForsberg I'm new (novice) at this site.
It doesn't work unless it's in strict mode
block scope local variable
17:27
@Mast Not sure - I do very little JS/TS work myself
@PaulVargas There are a couple of options, I am not sure which one states it the best: meta.codereview.stackexchange.com/search?q=titles
@Phrancis there's also a distinction there between old ECMAScript and ECMAScript 6.
True, I think let is fairly recent addition and only supported in ECMAScript 6 right?
Hello guys, anybody is working with WCF Services ?
I have began watching a WCF course on Pluralsight and the author suggests that no POCO or any entities from any object model have to be sent on the wire.
Instead, you have to create new classes decorated with [DataContract] and [DataMember] attributes, acting as "wrappers" (if you will).
I agree this is a good way to decouple the entities from the client, but, wouldn't it be tedious to create a wrapper class per entity (for exemple, for a big object model containing 50-100 entities) ?
You can still define those data objects in a common library shared by both server and client.

I don't know of wrapper classes, though - I usually decorate the original data objects
Ok.
He suggests using tools to avoid doing that by hand but ... I don't know, I think it's a bit of a burden compared to share entities to both the service and the client, like you said.
Just wanted to be sure I'm not the only one to work that way. Thanks :)
There may be cases where it makes sense to have separate objects for server and client, however. The nice thing about the data contract attributes is that you are free to have separate objects, and as long as they have the same data members defined in the attributes, it should just work.
17:48

I guess there are a lot of posts mis-tagged on CR though, I vaguely recall checking what the average usage of the tags was before including them.

@PaulVargas: I did so because titles on this site should state the purpose of the code only.

both are abstractions
Yes, but which to use?
I need to re-write the entire thing anyway...
I'll see what I come up with.
always prefer interface to abstract class, because remember you can only ever inherit 1 class.
OTOH if the class hierarchy makes sense, go for it

I originally did an interface, but then I wanted to handle INotifyPropertyChanged in the abstraction.
Oh hy
