@rolfl So... is it worth it to migrate questions that already have answers? I see a question that looks like it's worth migrating. It already has an accepted answer on SO.
But... the guy who wrote the accepted answer would be really good to have here as a reviewer...
And... both answers would be acceptable Code Review answers.

> Y U NO RUN MY JAVASCRIPT!?
Might need to change something or install something with Eclipse. It won't run this JS code.
(not the code's fault, runs in online things)
You should try VS Code and see if you can get it to work.
I can't get it to work because I haven't a clue about any of this JavaScript stuff or anything that might actually run in VS Code.
Meh. I might just stick with Eclipse ;)

Monking, Monkey.
@nhgrif - I confess that I am somewhat confounded by migrations.
I know you have been on the investigation of them recently, but I see migrations as being more of a pain than they are worth, most of the time.
I will participate when asked, but I am not out to promote them, or so on.
00:24
I flagged it. I commented that the question would be a good fit, the existing answers would be a good fit, that I edited it a bit to make it look like we expect them, and that I feel the asker would benefit from more in-depth reviews here.
Since you have cross-posted on Code Review (and the question there is better than this one), you should probably just delete this question on Stack Overflow. — 200_success just now
Taking that question as an example.
It would be a good Code Review Question, yes.
Also... mostly, I'd like to see if we can get Airspeed Velocity as a reviewer.
Note to other users: this is on-topic at codereview.stackexchange.com (since you're looking for help improving working code), but that doesn't automatically mean it's off-topic here. — immibis 36 secs ago
That may be useful, but there may be better ways too.

Note that, the people who answer those questions will often not appreciate losing the reputation on Stack Overflow when their answers are deleted.
I agree with migrating it.
If the users who answered it didn't want to lose SO rep, then they shouldn't have answered an off-topic question.
Well, a 5k user will lose 10 rep and an 11k user will lose 25 rep.
And that.
Off-topic because there isn't a specific programming concern identified.
Go ahead and flag it, if you haven't already.
I already did.
Where does it show up when a flag has been processed one way or the other?
00:31
In your SO profile under flags ...
Okay.
@200_success - you going to accelerate the migration?
Wait--I don't see flags.
How? By pestering an SO mod on TL?
@200_success Basically, yes, which is another reason I tend not to
00:33
Does multiple-flagging bump up the priority?
nope
I don't think it's so urgent that it needs special treatment.
Want me to?
Or are non-mods banned?

I flagged it. I commented that the question would be a good fit, the existing answers would be a good fit, that I edited it a bit to make it look like we expect them, and that I feel the asker would benefit from more in-depth reviews here.
> This question (and it's answers) are a good fit for Code Review. Furthermore, I've applied some edits that will get into the sort of shape we expect on Code Review. Also, on Code Review, we're not shy about posting answers to already answered questions--this user could get some more benefit out of this question on Code Review. I recommend migration.

Most of them are wrong.
I have a better one ;-)
01:05
And I guess I'm not as close as I thought :(
I have 15 score in the top 15 tags, not the top 20.
So I need 15 score in 20 tags that are in the top 40?
Welp, I'm only at 9/20 on SO... but I don't have 15 in SQL, SQL-Server, MySQL, or Database...
Also, XML/JSON are top 40 tags, so surely I'll eventually manage it in those by chance.
Yup, I have 15+ score in the top 15.
01:10
and... eventually Swift will be a top 40 tag, surely...
Generalist is harder to get when your language speciality is not popular (in the top 40)
I've got 15 in Algorithm and C now.
Looks like I'm 2 away for Code Review...
Yup...
Note the data may be stale
I have 40 php score.
And 1 php answer...
is a top 40 tag that I'm close to getting 15 score in... Santa...
01:14
@nhgrif Sorry to hear about that
For the record, I edited my way to generalist ;-)
lol...
I didn't edit that.
Hint hint, ... nudge nudge
I may look at editing...
First, I had to get 40 tags to have 200 questions.
01:16
You know what's amazing?
My wife?
I'm 2 away... and none of these are top 40 tags.
If we put on some of the questions I have score on, I might be there...
If it's and SQL... approach carefully. If it's not SQL... quivers... I don't want to imagine
Okay... whoever found this one good job... I can't believe that had no votes.
01:20
I'm surprised that this generally useful and good answer only has two Ups, including mine...
I already voted on the one you posted, so I looked up a different one.
Ah man...
When I can get the Start menu to open, Windows 10 is beginning to look really nice.
got synonomized into ? I had 8 score in that noe.
01:34
I don't have 15 score in on SO... these are all top 40 I should be able to easily get 15 score in.
If I got 15 score in all of those, I'd be at 18 tags.
The best thing about Windows 10.
Office, and the Smart snap thingy.
Interestingly enough, I proposed this back in the Windows 8.1 beta release, I don't know if it had any factor in this, but I like to think so.
I was on the MS forums back then, and I made a list of about 20 things I would like to see in Windows, and most of them happened.
I can't prove it, unfortunately, because they took the beta forums down after they released it.
I have two things to complain about, three that I cannot stand.
1, the Start menu AND the search box lock up regularly and simultaneously, so I can get no where.
2, Project Spartan is a CPU HOG - it eats over 50%.
3, It slipped my mind :(

@rolfl So, you want to synonymize a bunch of Java tags to Java?
Well, there are none, but if there were, then yes
java-8 is the only one
and it is now a synonym
Oh.
Because I was going to say, if there are some needing it, I'll help.
I wondered why you hadn't just taken care of it though - it can't take that long :)
There is , and also .
those are two different GUI libraries used in Java
Are they ever used outside of Java?
02:01
Nope.
So, should they be synonymized?
But, it is similar to, say, numpy, or angular.js
or... jQuery...
Oh, so no.
Is jQuery ever used outside of Javascript?
I wouldn't know.
02:02
(the answer is "no").
Hint?
no more hints
I meant, that wasn't a "hint".
I need to finish my classes and really get some rep to bump a bunch of guys so I can have swag when we graduate.

That's why it should not be here I guess. But working and working are different! Will try to move it or repost it. It's hypothetical code, not code that would appear in a real project.
True, but that's also an issue on the current location.

But you're right, in it's current form it would be closed fast.
The hypothetical part of his code, according to the comments.
It would help a lot if you gave us real code. There's situations where it's appropriate to take decisions based on the particular class of something, but it's impossible to tell if you're justified in what you're doing with such contrived examples. For whatever it's worth, what you want is a Visitor or tagged union. — Doval 12 hours ago

@Hosch250 Unlikely. Not enough people have heard of Code Review. What will help you get a job (if anything) is having lots of high quality answers in a specific domain on Stack Overflow.
If you're writing iOS code on a daily basis, whether Objective-C or Swift, if you search SO questions for help, you're relatively likely to come across me either asking a good question, posting a helpful answer, or just editing questions & answers to make them look good.
Once or twice is one thing... but then when you see & use an I answer I posted on a monthly basis? Or a weekly basis? You're seeing my profile so often that I've solved one of your problems once a week, and I don't even work for you? Then you think "What could he do if he did work for me?"
...which is how I got contacted for the job I'll be starting in June.

SE-Downvoter is a job?

Apparently ;-)
Yeah, but no one is going to get to their level overnight.
but... Why wouldn't, say... Apple try to go after Jon Skeet or Eric Lippert if they decided they wanted to start making their stuff multiplatform on the level that windows is doing?

$() is a shorthand to access the jQuery wrapper
which in turn has almost nothing to do with javascript in itself
