Q: Reducing usage of redundant keyframes with animation delay

Sean AndersonI'm looking through Google Polymer's source code and I found this: /** * IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CSS ANIMATION PROPERTIES (keanulee): * * iOS Safari (tested on iOS 8.1) does not handle animation-delay very well - it doesn't * guarantee that the animation will start _exactly_ after that value. It seems funny a 600+ rep user wouldn't know the rules of the site.
But I suppose that is like 60 rep over at SO.
Does this merit reopening?

Q: Recommendations for a newbie to CSS & HTML

Brittany RutherfordI am getting started with web development, and been trying some HTML & CSS, and I want recommendations on my code from experts here. I want to know what standard naming conventions you use for class names, how do you layout your pages, do you use tables or divs? I have written the following code ...

Someone "wanted" it reopened, but I kept it close.
00:12
Wasn't me, I found it in the queue.
"I also want to know why my spans are not taking 100% width of the divs as I want to make them look as sub items."
That means it is not working properly, which is why it should be closed.
Wait, is it 12/25 in "Stackland"?
@MannyMeng Yes, if you are going for Stockings, most of us already have them.
That is why there are so many bounties up now.
I need to figure out how to allow my app's users to click the image to view a scrollable, full-size image, then click again to reduce it.
It is especially a problem in my phone app.

Q: Tiny Lua library to get char pointer from string

DaggBackground I'm using Lua with luaglut to do some OpenGL stuff. The luaglut API is almost identical to the gl/glut C APIs. Sometimes, gl functions want a pointer to some data, for example: glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGBA, width, height, 0, GL_RGBA, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, oh_crap_a_pointer)...

I almost did that one, but I decided to get the Altruist badge and post one on my question.
Oh, I should have done that...
I can award it in 18 hours.
Super is going on, see you.
00:34
How much of the $1.29 do you get ... ;-) ?
and, will I like it ;-) ?
Thought it was $.99.. Guess it is USD... But of course you will like it! do click to listen to a snippet first
appears Canadians pay more....
Not sure how much we get, probably not very much at all :)
If I did this for money, I certainly would have quit right about 1999 when I started ;-)
Fair point, that
01:01
@rolfl I'm not sure how to solve the "0-day streak" problem, do you have any clue what is causing that? If have a feeling it is in my IF/ELSE statement but can't really pinpoint it. Would it be best to just add a zero-check in a where clause at the end?
@Phrancis No, I looked briefly, and did not see the cause, but adding a 'fix' would be a 2nd wrong, and it would not make a right
Ah, I'll bet a dollar it's in this:
  ELSE
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO #ConsecDaysCount (UserId, DaysCount, DateStreakEnded)
      VALUES (@UserId, @ConsecDaysCounter, @FirstDay);
    SET @ConsecDaysCounter = 0;
    SET @FirstDay = DATEADD(DAY, 1, @FirstDay);
    END;
@Phrancis Put a bunch of breakpoints in and run it in debug mode.
Probably would need an additional IF clause before the insert
@Hosch250 SQL has a debug mode?
hi everyone!
01:06
If you are in VS, it might.
The IDE might, anyway.

Q: Better way to switch between view controllers that are loaded in the background?

MahirI have a dining menu app that scrapes the data from a website and redisplays it in a mobile format, displayed below. @shuttle87 Hi!!
I seriously can't help here, though, because I don't know SQL.
Hi, @shuttle87!
Hi @shuttle87
@Hosch250 I've never seen a debug mode in SQL, because usually, either a query executes, or it doesn't. There's no compiling. So normally, you get either a syntax error (good) or borked data (really bad)
01:08
OK, I see.
Now, if someone writes an answer to a question they bounty, they cannot award the bounty to themselves, can they?
Negative
I just saw a question with a good answer written by the bountier as the only answer.
I think it's a that bounties de-facto penalize the person who puts it up (reputation-wise) and optionally benefit someone else.

KevinSo far, I've unlocked one of the secret hats. I'm wondering what other secret hats are out there and how to earn them?

It puts "Hello World!" into the AppleScript editor, rather than in TextEdit

I don't know how programmers who work on Office and Windows and other huge projects test their code - I compile my project every few hours when adding feature and every few minutes when debugging.
Do they just have millions of console applications open?
Test? I'm surprised I can even spell the word...
@Phrancis I didn't say companies, I said programmers.
In 2015 I need less F5-debug and more "run all tests"
I just deploy my program and see what happens.
> I don't always test... but when I do, I test in production.

Do I look like a guy that enters a bar and orders -1 beers?
@Mat'sMug I like to order one beer'; drop table users;--
@Mat'sMug Depends.
Are you talking in 4-bit, unsigned integers with wraparound?
I think you'd literally buy the bar out and kill yourself.
Multiple bars, that is.
Nope. Hold on..
> QA Engineer walks into a bar. Orders a beer. Orders 0 beers. Orders 999999999 beers. Orders a lizard. Orders -1 beers. Orders a sfdeljknesv.
A what?
Is that supposed to be a joke?
^ That.
03:57
lol
And are you a QA Engineer?
And what is a "sfdeljknesv"?
Hell no
Then why did you ask if you looked like one?
I most certainly would NOT walk into a bar.
Did you see what that looked like?
Sorry, it's just a tweet @Phrancis posted yesterday in the VBA chatroom - I found it pretty funny
I'm not all there right now BTW. Wife's driving tonight.
04:00
That's the spirit :D
QA Engineer walks into a bar. Orders a beer. Orders 0 beers. Orders 999999999 beers. Orders a lizard. Orders -1 beers. Orders a sfdeljknesv.
A QA engineer will try any invalid input and see what happens - a "sfdeljknesv" is just another invalid input
@Mat'sMug Have you tested Rubberduck for a sfdeljknesv function? :)
I just muted a F word
;)
How fun is that D:
@Phrancis I should be a QA engineer.
04:06
> Orders null beers.
I almost always test my programs with random garbage, and if I don't, it is because it won't matter either way.
Well, when I was doing my Fibonacci checker in JS, I tested null, negative values, text, and positive values.
Nope.
Sounds like a good habit!! For me if the SQL parser takes it I may as well call it done ;)
On a different note, I have a bunch of XAML/C# pages in my WPF app.
Like this:
<Grid Background="Transparent">
    <ScrollViewer Style="{StaticResource DataPage}">
        <StackPanel>
            <TextBlock>
                The Undo menu for working with inked items, pictures, and files only has two options - undo and redo:<LineBreak/>
            </TextBlock>
            <Viewbox MaxHeight="270">
                <Image Source="../../WindowsPictures/Menus/UndoDraw.png" />
            </Viewbox>
        </StackPanel>
    </ScrollViewer>
</Grid>
Then, I display these pages in a frame.
I have many, many pages now, and I'm wondering if this is a good way to do this.
Or should I be using a JSON file or something?
04:09
Perhaps you need a user control?
Runs off to Bing "user control"
Bing???
Yup.
DROP TABLE Phrancis.Life
04:11
@Mat'sMug How in the world would a UserControl help?
If you're repeating xaml markup in many different places, you can write it once in a user control, and then use that control everywhere
Oh, OK.
So like this:
And then you get to deal with dependency properties and all the fun stuff that I have yet to read up on
<UserControl>
    <TextBlock>
        The Undo menu for working with inked items, pictures, and files only has two options - undo and redo:<LineBreak/>
    </TextBlock>
    <Viewbox MaxHeight="270">
        <Image Source="../../WindowsPictures/Menus/UndoDraw.png" />
    </Viewbox>
</UserControl>
I don't know dependency properties either.
Something like that yeah
04:16
I just bind everything.
@Mat'sMug Here is interesting syntax for Postgres doing the same damn thing I did earlier... looks completely different...
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION getAllFoo() RETURNS SETOF foo AS
$BODY$
DECLARE
    r foo%rowtype;
BEGIN
    FOR r IN SELECT * FROM foo
    WHERE fooid > 0
    LOOP
        -- can do some processing here
        RETURN NEXT r; -- return current row of SELECT
    END LOOP;
    RETURN;
END
$BODY$
LANGUAGE 'plpgsql' ;
Uh-huh.
OK, but other than that, would there be a better way to do this other than creating a ton of pages like this?
Make a user control and look into dependency properties - so you can customize it everywhere it's used. Like you would have one to set the MaxHeight for example
And another to set the textblock contents
Other than that.. depends what you're trying to do
@Phrancis I find that CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION a bit dangerous. Is it the default? I tend to script CREATE so I can't run it accidentally and mess up the existing one
F5 happens so fast...
@Mat'sMug CREATE OR REPLACE is mostly something you do before the DB is live, I feel. I would be more comfortable raising an error if an object of the same name already existed, in production
A bit like DROP TABLE foo CASCADE :D
So, no, it's not the default at all
04:26

@JeroenVannevel which is why such sites shouldn't be coded in PHP.
My U uses PHP.
It is pretty reliable, but horrid UI.
You practically need a degree just to find anything on their page.
Not because you are locked out, but because the UI is so bad.
I have emigrated to Canada myself, and helped others through the process. I have come to realize that managing to follow the process right, and fill in the forms adequately, and get things from a-to-b on schedule, are a sort of 'entry requirement', 'filter', and 'aptitude test'.
Maybe you only get the degree if you are smart enough to survive the site?

I have no clue what my university uses, but you cannot find anything on their site either!
Three semesters down, and I've earned that degree.
I know where to find things now (except for the GoldPass thing where I need to post my resume for my forced internship).
I'm supposed to do that next summer, and I've only been on it once - don't remember how to get back.

Richard AI've been playing around with Jekyll and CoffeeScript the last few days and made a Periodic Table to learn those 2. Now, to create the Periodic Table, I take an array of lis as input which then replaces itself with a table using a custom format like so: periodicTable = [ [1, "s:16", 2], ...

OK. Thanks.
I'll do that after a couple days in Jan - I'm saving a couple of mine until then for the hat.
