Greetings, Programs.

Greeting @Donald.McLean! Nice hat!

@RubberDuck It was very convenient that I would get a yearling badge during hat season.

That is very convenient. =)

Hey Donald... you sharp shooter
Right, tethered, at the dentist....
@RubberDuck - rollbacks make you anxious?

@rolfl Not usually... that question was just a mess. That question made me anxious.

2:17 PM
Took me a little while to settle in to the concept that, as a mod, we have so much trust put in us to do things 'right'.
As the site has been growing, we (the mods) are going to need to rely a lot more on the trusted users to do such things without mod intervention.
5

That's very fair.
I think we (the trusted users) do a pretty good job around here. There are just times when things are a mess and it's nice to have someone with more experience doing those things look at it.

@rolfl I am going to need more rep for that. and some more knowledge Jedi Master.
oh yeah and ....

Indeed, just one hat behind. Anyways, we're either 15 or 16 if I counted correctly.

Do you all feel this answer is bounty-worth? Looks pretty good to me, but - it's Ruby lol.

A: Elementwise iterator adaptor

Mat's MugI don't write C++, but one thing I've noticed is that your bracing style isn't consistent. @Mat'sMug That's probably what I would've said as well. I don't understand the code enough to really review it.

@Edward I hope your interpretation is the correct one :)
@Jamal phew :)

@hosch250 that is one of the toughest ones to get I find

@RubberDuck Not least because low-scoring questions tend to be unrecoverably bad.

@Edward: I'm about to answer this question, so feel free to let me know if my answer should be thrown out if it's wrong.

@Jamal OK. I'm busy working on your MPI question

Not all though @Edward. I'm damn well convinced that my attempt at Red Baron was not as off topic as everyone else seemed to believe.

Alright. I'll wait a bit, then.

4:51 PM

@hosch250 Yes

OK, thanks. At least I know what is happening now.
Learning to write it is next.

I still don't know what a smart pointer is...

In computer science, a smart pointer is an abstract data type that simulates a pointer while providing additional features, such as automatic memory management or bounds checking. These additional features are intended to reduce bugs caused by the misuse of pointers while retaining efficiency. Smart pointers typically keep track of the memory they point to. They may also be used to manage other resources, such as network connections and file handles. Misuse of pointers is a major source of bugs. Smart pointers prevent most situations of memory leaks by making the memory deallocation automatic....

Q: Can you get Naruto for Posting a Selfie?

RubberDuckYou can get the Naruto hat for posting an answer, getting accepted, and receiving no votes for 12 hours. My question is: Can you accept your own answer and still be awarded Naruto? Or is Naruto only awarded for answering some one else's question? Okay.... I'll admit it. This is certainly gaming....

The thing is: A couple of hats certainly invite people to game.

Isn't requesting up/downvotes cheating too?

I wouldn't worry too much about gaming the system. It's just for fun and mostly encourages desirable behavior.

5:22 PM
It's an honor thing I guess @Edward. It's a game, I'd like to "play fair".
I want to feel like I earned it.
Even if earning it means adding some value to SE.

Pretty hard here.

@Mat'sMug yes, I had a designer/programmer at the start, I had to step in our project was a failure. Now I work solo and mine designer do the maintenance of other project

I wouldn't quite call it cheating, since you're not manipulating any systems. It's kinda like encouraging someone to vote for a certain political candidate, while nothing will happen if you decline.

@chillworld just didn't finish your sentence.

5:24 PM
@CaptainObvious I feel that question would be better fit for DBA.SE ... Anyone else feel that way?

@SimonAndréForsberg I know, pressed enter per accident

@chillworld I would love to have a designer at my side. No more UI , think about such a perfect world.

@Heslacher I would love a compenent designer also

@Heslacher That's largely why I do embedded system work.

project started out with an analist who analyse during 6 months the old acces application
after 6 months : no analyse needed, you just start with it :s

@Edward Thats just not the business of the company I work for.

@rolfl Not necessarily. I've met a few with both titles.

so mine designer did his stuff, but he has no experience with what we need to create

@rolfl LMAO

so after some big fault's in the model and he went doing some courses for some weeks, I was the new head (only guy) on the project
and I wasn't letting the project fail under mine watch
so lot's of programming done from start to end work day
pitty I didn't have time to chat
but creating a whole application alone in 3 months, with almost every 2 weeks a model change
you don't have much free time
Yesterday the project went in acceptance
so now there will be some gui changes to be done and implementing the security more
and then more free time ;)

5:32 PM
@chillworld If your management doesn't already know, you need to tell them that's no way to run a project.

@chillworld And also that you need a raise ;-)

@Edward I know it's not how to run a project, they also know they are very Lucky I did all this (having granted 2 extra holiday's last month)
@Phrancis pitty that doesn't works, the military has fix salary for your grade

@all I really, really want a Pizza hat today, and I've typed up a really nice SEDE/SQL question. I'd also like to generate a Naruto hat so I will put a temporary note there not to vote on answer until I accept, which I will take care to do very promptly. So, anyone interested, stick around until @Janos is here!

Isn't it extra fun when you find undocumented performance requirements.

@Donald.McLean It's about finding all the secrets!

5:38 PM
@all when the project is up and running with the client satisfactioned, I'll put here some questions for refactoring

@skiwi Not even a secret, just something that happens irregularly that nobody thought to mention to me.
"You know how this one panel normally has maybe a couple dozen entries? Yeah, well every few months we're going to do this thing where the record count is going to be more like 100,000 records." It would have been nice to know about that.

@Donald.McLean oh great.

@Donald.McLean Yeah... definitely

However, on the flip side - why we do this:

@Donald.McLean I don't think you want to see mine project atm, only test is a hibernate validator ^^. For the rest almost no documentation.(I'm not proud of that, I'll must refactor it for the better, but it comes later)

5:46 PM
And by that, I mean that the Kepler archive is the source of the problem that I'm working.
