@Morwenn it's ask and answer within the Hat Dates

@Jamal I think we didn't cheat

we're 100+ hats behind Apple.SE - let's turn them into applesauce
3

@janos I'm content with my answer.... (not brilliant... but, yeah).

@Malachi The short description said "answer own question" :(

@Morwenn I know I tried that too...lol

10:00 PM
@Mat'sMug Sauce Different

Now I'm sad.

@Mat'sMug Not a cherry Sauce?

@rolfl it's a good answer

Q: rotate image 90 degree clockwise time complexity: O(N) & memory complexity: O(1)

MORTALIs my calculation of complexity correct for this code #include <iostream> #include <algorithm> #include <vector> using namespace std; using Vector = vector<vector<int>>; int main() { const size_t SIZE = 7; Vector image(SIZE, vector<int>(SIZE)); cout << "******* original image **...

now I just have to implement all of that before the go live in 2 weeks.... LOL
and then post another question tomorrow.

10:02 PM
@Morwenn I learned the "hard" way (but still earned some rep). I did post a question yesterday, but I'm not sure of a good selfie yet.

oh and BTW.Normal everyone I still need "handegg" +7 on an answer posted during the event

Did... abby hairboat just post a question? D:

@Jamal That's the problem. When I post a question here, I generally don't have a good answer to provide in a few days.

@janos I agree with that. Co-ordination != Cheating

in appleScript? let's see what we can do... — Malachi 12 secs ago
@RubberDuck me too

10:04 PM
my devious plan worked :)
and so soon!

Now everyone who comments will get a hat. :D

@janos how did you put it into motion?
I tried to comment on one of her posts yesterday or the day before that she should post something over here

Hi Abby,

At Code Review (http://codereview.stackexchange.com/), the community would love it if you could post *any* of your (working) scripts for review. For example:

- The one you referred to in: http://apple.stackexchange.com/q/143493/47350
- The one included in: http://apple.stackexchange.com/q/142797/47350
- ... or any other script you may have in any language

The only requirement is that it should work as intended. It can be messy, primitive, doesn't matter, as long as it works. (And then we'll make it better for you!)
3

@janos You're amazing @janos.

@Jamal Do you see any relevant comment for Optimize the Buddhabrot?

10:07 PM
btw, if you could upvote his questions on apple.stackexchange so that he rep-caps there, that would be awesome too

I only have generic remarks.
And I'm quite bored of writing generic answers...

@Morwenn Yes: #define :-)

@Jamal Well, that's a generic remark.

@Morwenn That code needs some help, though...

got a response too:
Since you asked so nicely (and I love fake internet points)... http://codereview.stackexchange.com/q/73995/19907

:)

Happy hatting,
ATM

10:09 PM
@Morwenn I'd at least have to read into it first. It's not something I've seen before.

There's also the lack of #include <cmath>, the lack of properly std::-qualified functions, the return 0; in main and emplace_back would be better to create threads.

Q: Script to enter text when screen saver is activated

abby hairboatHere's a little script that enters text into a document when activated. tell application "TextEdit" activate end tell delay 0.2 tell application "System Events" keystroke "Hello World!" keystroke return end tell I stuck the delay in there because otherwise the first few keystrokes tend t...

But these things are not really interesting per se.
Manual memory management too...

Congratulations, you pass the first post review queue with flying colors! :) — Mat's Mug 1 min ago

@Morwenn True. I might put together a review, but it will be later tonight when I have a glass of wine.

10:10 PM
There's also a use of new, and no delete.

@Jamal Well, manual memory leaks.

Hello and welcome Abby and all to Code Review. Just as a head's up to all, these comments will be regularly monitored, and purged. Have (courteous) fun. — rolfl ♦ 39 secs ago
But... hats!

we're my hat?

give it a moment .... ;-)

YES!!

10:11 PM
I can see about 100 hats suddenly happening on Code Review.

What's the Buddhabrot anyway?

but.. what if Apple.SE does that too?

THey've had plenty of opportunity already
Abby has many posts there.

@Morwenn A fractal. (I googled it)

Unfortunately, I have just earned two hats on ask different ;-)

10:13 PM
@Edward Is that why it takes years running? It let it run a few minutes and it never finished.

970 hatz

As our All-things-apple fan, @nhgrif - you should be aware of this: codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/73995/…

^^ and make sure you leave a comment ^^
@rolfl technically Abby's code doesn't work as intended...

Hmm, more SEDE hurdles... Looks like Posts.CreationDate is close to 24 hours behind live

@Morwenn That and the fact that it's not very good code.

10:17 PM
@Phrancis SEDE is updated 1 time a week at about 03:00UTC on sunday mornings.

that's a lol:

odd..... hmmm on Code Review?

looking at the leaderboard, I have a feeling that some of the sites ahead of us have something to do with Abby: English, Arqade, Science Fiction, Ask Different. These are sites Abby's active on
come on guys, let's get Abby cap on Ask Different

10:20 PM
25 rep and 30 minutes away from rep cap. Tonight may be frustrating.

Too bad we cannot feature main site posts (or put the title in flashing lights).

we can stick a bounty on it, as soon as we can

I feel like putting in a close vote. it clearly doesn't work as intended. it's a better fit for SO.

Well, let's go for the Buddhabrot question.

@Phrancis The official word is that they have added Stack Overflow in Japanese to SEDE, and the way they did that happened to do a 1-off refresh of all the data, and that waas done earlier today.

10:23 PM
or is it the delay call that's addressing the issue?
we're 25 hats short of 1K!

@rolfl Ah... well crap

What have you tried? More specifically, have you tried just using jquery? — Jaydles ♦ 39 secs ago

here's an interesting question in OSX:

Q: Are Macs vulnerable to the Bash shellshock bug?

abby hairboatRed Hat recently announced a major security-related bug in the Bash shell. Some are calling it the "shellshock" bug. Since OS X is built off of Unix, is it vulnerable to attacks that exploit this bug? As an end user, do I need to worry about an immediate fix? Or is it better for me to wait for ...

and score
> You earned Aztec on Code Review!

Uh oh. @Malachi's catching up..

10:27 PM
and this seems a good answer:

voting on those things is fine, and all, but earns you hats on ask different... ;-)
which is sort of half of what we are trying to avoid, right?

@rolfl don't do that

oh come on. give something to get something

Work is over. Chat dies. =;)-

@RubberDuck Go home and work on @RubberDuck!
The project, not yourself.

10:35 PM
@RubberDuck Not dead. Just pining for the fjords.
but... my work is done. See ya!

Haha. Yeah. Okay @SimonAndréForsberg. I'll do that after dinner.

anyone want to give me some rep on another site so I can at least vote in their election? math.stackexchange.com/a/1059763/43724
@RubberDuck lol

@Malachi this bunch won't even give Abby extra rep on Ask Different

Morning Morning

I am not really a fan of Macs either.....

10:41 PM
I'm really disappointed this is so hard

don't think I've ever seen this many people at once here is 2nd monitor

Morning Morning @Mehrad

I had to create an account just to vote

@janos Hey, I did give rep... (and got 2 hats for it ;-)

Got 2 hats too... lol.

10:43 PM
how many old posts do I need to edit to get that lighthouse?

@JeroenVannevel I am trying to name those last two variables but it wigs out on me when I try to do it to that "out" parameter

you'll be counting our hairboats for many days to come
@Mat'sMug 5

questions?

@Malachi what situation exactly?

I still have to post from my tablet

10:44 PM
Named parameters have to be last in the argument chain
even if they aren't in that position in the actual method signature

@Mat'sMug safer for questions. Unconfirmed for answers

@JeroenVannevel yeah I tried to name the last one and it wouldn't let me

Ok, I'm done rep-capping for today. Thanks everyone and thanks Santa ^^

does it have to be posts on which I have no answer or what?

10:45 PM
@Mat'sMug they have to be old
like 2013 and older, old.

@JeroenVannevel it won't let me name the out variable

been editing stuff from 2013

@Janos @all Perhaps for the sake of encouraging Red Shirt, we could hold back a bit on closing bad questions, give others a chance to DV?

Like this?
void Main()
{
	string awesomizedName;
	TryBeAwesome(name: "jeroen", awesomizedName: out awesomizedName);
	Console.WriteLine (awesomizedName);
}

void TryBeAwesome(string name, out string awesomizedName)
{
	awesomizedName = name + " is awesome";
}

10:47 PM
@JeroenVannevel I was using the type instead of the parameter name.... give me a second... I feel dumb now

@Mat'sMug Add 'Thanks' to the search to get good candidates

@rolfl lol

Happy customer:
You could have made this six answers and I would happily have given you six upvotes. (Except that Stack Exchange would probably reverse them all, but that's another discussion...) This is a lot of knowledge compressed into a single answer! Thank you. — Michael Hampton 6 mins ago

@Mat'sMug I don't know, but I edited ones I had no answers on. If you search in unanswered in your favorite tags, aren't there plenty that could use some editing? There were plenty in mine

yeah.. been lazy and started browsing my oldest answers list...

10:50 PM
@200_success he's also protector of the realm (nudge nudge wink wink)
I'm vote-capped, but will come back for this tomorrow

oh I got the lighthouse [TimeLord] hat!
and @Jamal is off the Top-5!

I could get @Phrancis to cap on Cooking but can't do Abby on Ask Different. Shame.
Yes I'll be bitchin' about this forever or until you do it

@Mat'sMug That's great news! /sarcasm

I can get a hat today for being downvoted... ...but I haven't posted any crap (I think)

I think some of my smaller JAVA answers are fair game. :-)

11:04 PM
TTQW

Actually, I think this answer of mine may be somewhat crappy, and Jerry's is better. But maybe @Edward can verify.

It's been a while since I last heard of Jerry by the way.

@Morwenn He's decided to focus on SO only.

@rolfl I bet he doesn't care since he'll get the T-shirt anyway :o

@mirgee: After careful consideration, I've decided to quit Code Review, but if you'd like to post your code on Stack Overflow, there's a pretty good chance I'll take a look. — Jerry Coffin Aug 22 at 16:07

11:10 PM
Oh.

Hey @YYZcode - enjoying the sleet?

Never thought I would say this, but I miss @JerryCoffin's Java rants.

@SimonAndréForsberg I would give you some Java rants if I hadn't been nicer about many things these last months.

TTQW

And I'm not good enough with Java to come up with a worthy rant.

11:13 PM
@YYZcode - you should be able to chat now.

Chameleon... Yay...

I have to step out for a bit. BBIAB.

Q: Passing parameters by reference? Let me fix that for you

Mat's MugI've implemented a code inspection that verifies whether a procedure has parameters that are implicitly passed by reference - in VBA a parameter is passed ByRef unless it's explicitly specified ByVal. Here is the implementation in question: [ComVisible(false)] public class ImplicitByRefParamete...

@YYZcode That question is something you should ask on Stack Overflow, that question is totally off-topic for Code Review.

@SimonAndréForsberg simo i did but i got no answers :/

@YYZcode That still doesn't make it on-topic here, unfortunately.

what is this anyways it's my first day on Stackoverflow

11:41 PM
@YYZcode Can you send me a link to your question on Stack Overflow?

Back. @YYZcode posted here to Code Review (and it was closed): codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/74000/…

@SimonAndréForsberg click on rolfl link

@YYZcode It seems like you have two sites mixed up. You are on Code Review. You should be on Stack Overflow
@YYZcode click on that image and ask on that site ^^

@SimonAndréForsberg makes more sense thanks !

11:46 PM
@Jamal I can understand that one, even though it's not really a good CR question either.

I just realized that I can't get the Time Lord hat before the 29th ç___ç

@Mat'sMug do you get 1K reputation if get extra 11 hats? :D

I need to vite on two questions to get the Treasure Hunter hat.

@Morwenn You schmuck.... lucky brat

@Mehrad CR is 11 hats short of having earned 1000 hats - where's your hat? :)

@rolfl I stil have to wait 10 minutes though.

You can.

@Mehrad nuget comes with VS. entityframework was most likely installed via nuget when you created your solution (guessing it's an asp.net mvc solution). EF is technically a 3rd party library, don't be afraid of using 3rd party libraries. nuget packages can do more than add references, e.g. some of them set up sample files/scaffolding for you

Nice @Morwenn! Well done!
