@skiwi It's hard to get new people in to the IBM system at the moment. I have yet to get someone in through networking. I have tried twice. Also, IBM bought the company I worked for, so I am still somewhat 'new' there.
On the other hand, I have a small disadvantage in the fact that I moved to Canada when I was 30, and don't have friends from 'university' days here. Also, most of the technical/programmer people I know are through work already, or are not in Toronto.

3
@rolfl You saved my day!
Hey, last night I went to a Canadian-style Black Friday special.
My home-theater receiver 'died' a few weeks afo. I tried to repair it, and failed.
The medium-size tech-store chain (canadacomputers.com) advertized a black-friday sale, with a receiever on sale that interested me, at a good price.
"Black Friday Sale starting at 7pm on Thursday night".
I showed up at 10-to-7, waited in line till 7, they let 25 people in to the store, and then let one more person in each time someone else left.
Everyone was polite.
inside, I got individual attention, shown to the receivers, discussed the reasons I was buying, nice, friendly, and 40% off.
I can do this black-friday thing again... ;-) My first time was a breeze.
Now I get to watch the pro's do it on the crime-tv news later... ;-)
13:10
Ummmmm yeah. I'm in the states..... I won't be leaving the house today.
6
@rolfl That's definitely not how I imagined Black Friday.
As I say, Canadian style ;-)
2
I think their idea of only letting 25 people in to the store at a time was an excellent idea.
otherwise, I guess it'd be chaos.

^^^ Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Official Teaser)
I've got a question. I want to hexedit an audio file, change the header to JPG and and save that so I can view the image. Any ressource tips? Because google results only yield nonsense for that task.
@kleinfreund The whole task sounds nonsense.
5
Yeah, no, it's not super practical, but see it as art.
I may not use the right search terms. For the ones I tried the results are unrelated.
I have a nice little online hex editor: hexed.it
But I can't get it to work.
16:38
it might not be as simple as changing the header. The file formats might differ more than that.

Q: How to Extract Album Cover Image from MP3 file?

k0pernikusI have a bunch of MP3 files that have their album art included within the file itself. I am now looking for a way to extract them to store them separably, at best from command line. Is there a way to achieve this?

@rolfl That does not seem to be what he tries to do though.
@Heslacher Nope, that's not what I want.
@kleinfreund Why exactly do you want to interpret audio data as image data?
16:53

Actually it's a funny task – once you get it to work.
We should also do this vice-versa.
I think the result will be mostly the same as if you used Math.random() for it

@kleinfreund something like this ?
@Heslacher As far as I understand @kleinfreund, he wants to take the audio data and interpret it as image data.
Not generate the wave image of it
just like you can change the file extention of a .exe file to .txt to open it in Notepad

@syb0rg you can do that in C ?
I thought you have to declare variables at the top of functions in C
gcc doesn't complain if I declare later
it does complain if I try to do for (int i = ....), unless I give the -std=c99 flag
21:31
@janos no, in C a new scope is introduced by each block (compound statement), not just by each function as in JavaScript or Python.
@janos That's using ANSI C, AKA 25 year old standard C
Then you have to
