Q: Increasing performance of OpenMP based advection equation solver for Xeon Phi

maverickI am solving linear advection equation in order to learn parallel programming. I am running this code on Xeon Phi co processor. Below is a plot of how it scales up with increasing number of threads. I am still in learning process and this is my first "parallel" code. I am also not very familiar w...

@sim 740 MotW ;)

@Mat'sMug How many mugs can that wall take? It will probably break soon

So, I'm 100% behind this, but I'm concerned about bumbling closed questions into the queue. Thoughts?

Q: Contests and Challenges? Burn [contest-problem]

Alex LGoing through the tags, I found that we have a contest-problem tag. It would be a good tag, except we already have the programming-challenge. programming-challenge has 202 questions tagged. contest-problem has 18 questions tagged. It is a synonym to programming-challenge, but they are both af...

There used to be a thousand-ish SotW on that wall, no worries ;)

@Mat'sMug Perhaps Mugs are heavier than Simons?

A: Contests and Challenges? Burn [contest-problem]

JamalI believe this can be changed. Contest problems are still considered challenges. The only difference is that contest problems may have certain criteria. If that's the case, then they should be stated in the question. We don't get too many actual contest problems, and even then, they're usuall...

Q: Linear algebra, reduced row echelon form function 1

user1235831This is a derivative post from here. This is just a general review, so the question is the same: Is there something... That you would consider as a bad practice and why? That is just bad in some other way? This question applies to the function "toRowEchelonForm(matrix, returnMethod);" (Jus...

Morning everybody...
anybody would have any suggestions on an easy Retry/cancel message box in WPF without the need of implementing the whole thing from scratch

@Jamal Yeah, saw it just before I left for work this morning.

11:27 PM
as far as I know only WinForms have Retry/Cancel and not the WPF

A: Is there a MessageBox equivalent in WPF?

Fredrik MörkThe WPF equivalent would be the System.Windows.MessageBox. It has a quite similar interface, but uses other enumerations for parameters and return value.

wouldn't that work?

I am using that one atm but it only has Ok Cancel combinations and that's it
I was surprised why Retry isn't in the list and a little search told me the WPF message box is kinda limited in comparison to the WinForm one which has all that Retry , ignore etc.

hmm
seen this?

I know, right?
TaskDialog ?! interesting
let me give it a shot... seems legit

Q: Please help optimizing and improving this php script to run using cron for sending reminders

Richard KurthThe following script is being run with a cron. It runs once a minute to see if there is a reminder that needs to be sent. Should I make this run once every 30 minutes the choices to send a reminder are 30 minutes 60 minutes 90 minutes 2 hour up to 12 hour. Could this script be written different....

@Mehrad oh, it requires an account to download.. I won't create an account there, just for this though. Perhaps you could implement your own and put it up for review? ;)

Hey @Jamal, how does one begin the synonym-izing process!?

yeah it needs Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.dll
already have an account in CodeProject but as I said I wanted to know if I can do it as easy as possible. I probably should do my own... Not a good start for the early morning :)
Thanks @Mat'sMug

You might want to look here @AlexL

@AlexL You would do so from the tag page, but you'll also require a tag score of at least 5 for that tag. Someone else will have to propose the synonym.
@ckuhn203: I'm not sure why I've tagged that meta post as . I might've been thinking of synonymization instead at the time.

@Jamal Darn, I could have gotten badge there!
Well maybe I just need to go complete a challenge!?
