Q: How can I make my mysql database backup script generic, faster and safer

Rohit GuptaI haven't used unix etc for 40 years, so a bit rusty. I need to backup the databases on my website(s) once a week and then retrieve them automatically from my development machine. So this is step one and is working fine as a crontab job on apache. It emails me a message with status/error. I a...

Stackoverflow is not a code review site, or a tutorial site, sorry. We only answer specific programming questions. Before posting their first question on stackoverflow.com, everyone should take the tour, read the help center, understand all the requirements for a minimal reproducible example and How to Ask questions here. Not doing any of this results in a poor quality question almost every time. It then gets downvoted, closed, and then deleted. Repeated low-quality questions may result in a temporary ban from asking new questions. — Sam Varshavchik 14 secs ago

Q: Iterating over all simple unique cycles in an undirected graph in Java - brute-force approach

coderoddeThis post is about an Iterator iterating over simple loops of an undirected graph. In the above graph, the vertex sequence \$\langle 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 \rangle\$ is not simple, but, for example, \$S = \langle 1, 2, 3, 4 \rangle\$ is. Also, note that \$2, 3, 4, 1\$ is a simple cycle too, but it encode...

Readable code is great, but not all code will be immediately readable. That’s when you get your interrogation tools.

@CodyGray -umm, Code Review does specifically state that requests for optimization are on topic. That is NOT listed as being on topic for Stack Overflow. Moreover, there are plenty of topics on Stack Exchange that state that working code is generally better suited for CR versus SO. I am not off base in my suggestion. At best, it's a grey area. It certainly doesn't warrant my comment being deleted and based on your opinion (diamond or not) — devlin carnate 25 secs ago

Q: Go Chess (weiqi) in Python using Tkinter

userThe Game Go or weiqi is an amazingly simple yet complex board game. This game is typically played on a 19x19 grid, and pieces are played on the intersections of lines. Pieces are removed when they are surrounded by opposing stones on all orthogonally adjacent points, in which case the stone or gr...

C has implicit conversions between types and will automatically convert from int32_t to int as needed. The problem is that an int is not guaranteed to be big enough to hold all possible values that int32_t can hold. int32_t is guaranteed to be 32-bits two's complement. But a plain int can be as small as 16-bits, and can be two's complement, one's complement, or sign magnitude. So in general, code that's converting between fixed-sized types and plain int needs to be code reviewed to see why that's necessary. — user3386109 49 secs ago

Q: Should we abandon Builder pattern in DTOs for "safer" breaking changes?

adnan_eOur client library provides has lots of data classes for our API request/response model. Due to having lots of optional fields with default values, we are offering builders and are endorsing their usage. One example of such a class would be: // lombok annotations @Data @Builder public class User...
