11:00 PM
@skiwi Except that it is terrible :P

11:15 PM
@Phrancis Mmmm, I'd beg to differ. The whole point of Java is to make it difficult to write good code. C# took the opposite stance.

@Hosch250 I'm pretty sure that's not the whole point of Java :P
I'm not saying that you're wrong about being difficult to write good code with Java, though
Lots of flags in Russian SO room...

@SimonForsberg significantly better than VCS or no source control at all ...
I still remember source control being different versions of a VM image with manually merged changes
ugh

@Phrancis this is my inaugural viewing of that interface

@SimonForsberg Why?

@Vogel612 Uh, I remember backing up code files via FTP

11:23 PM
If it works don't fix it

@Hosch250 define good code
@Phrancis at least it wasn't on your local machine ...

@Vogel612 A subset of C# and F# ;P

@Vogel612 or RCS...

@Hosch250 welp, I see you're a man of culture

Definitely not JS :P
LOL.

11:24 PM
@Vogel612 then can somebody define "the good complexity"?

@SamOnela ewwww...
java is just ... overused for educating
Java is the new Basic for Dijkstra
> "It forever cripples the mind of the programmer, they become useless for any sensible task after being exposed to it"
> "It is practically impossible to teach good programming to students that have had a prior exposure to BASIC: as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration."

"The use of COBOL cripples the mind; its teaching should, therefore, be regarded as a criminal offense."

I learned over the last week that my half year ago self had a case of Singletonnitis..

Gave a fun time refactoring

wow @skiwi how did you catch that one at your stage?
I had thought you immune ...

11:28 PM
@Vogel612 I was solving some things relatively quickly and using a dependency framework was difficult

that is not an excuse, actually...

It gave especially fun things related to shorting down a service where things have to occur in order

you on java? because keeping stuff in order for multi-threading is a royal pain
The CompleteableFuture API is a steaming pile of garbage

Some colleagues were playfully joking that I was already refactoring the code before it even hit production :D
@Vogel612 No that was C#

hum .

11:30 PM
It's an IIS module though which needs to communicate to a backend server

Q: Converting Celsius and Fahrenheit in C++

blackborgI've made my first little program written in C++ and was wondering if anyone could evaluate and suggest some improvements. No copy paste. I was wondering if i can do something with my little knowledge and came up with simple idea of converting Celsius and Fahrenheit. #include <iostream> using na...

possible answer invalidation by Vadim Ovchinnikov on question by Sergio Tapia: codereview.stackexchange.com/posts/186/revisions

@Duga mostly just syntax highlighting

Yeah, and Jamal had the last word anyway

I was about to say something along those lines

11:39 PM
We had both approved that edit.
(before Jamal got to it).

true

That is question 186 ..... what inspired someone to go that far back in history to fix the question.... not a bad edit, but... wow.

@rolfl archeologist badge?

If the code works but you would like to improve it (e.g. in the performance aspect), Code Review is a more appropriate place to post. — meowgoesthedog 34 secs ago

Maybe, the accepted answer is by user 67 .... akmad codereview.stackexchange.com/users/67/akmad who's user profile looks stupid because of lack of activity......

For actions more than a year ago they really should have the year as part of the visible part of the date of the action
4

This is creepily interesting

@rolfl path from enlightened !img

Yeah, and they got 2 yearlings on the same day ..... ;-)
Probably worthy of a Meta bug report.

@skiwi Just what I remember from it, but I haven't used it extensively. But IIRC it doesn't have the branch concept that git has, or the stash, or other things

@rolfl That's all true, but at work we don't have much reason for it, as it's not our main development platform, so difficult to make a point.

that's all tree ... ?

Autocorrect 49reeft is hell...

@rolfl Is that just CR, or all sites?

Does not matter .... ^^^^ I observed it on CR, and it's a bug, and that's the way bugs should be reported in SE.

11:59 PM
I thought cross-site bugs went on main meta.

SE staff are welcome to migrate it.
