@svick Yes, I think something like that (contests) would be good for CR

@Jamal I think that it is just a really bad question

@Malachi: Perhaps, but it still has answers, and I don't want them invalidated.

@Jamal I fixed it I think

6:21 PM
@rolfl "there's no ways that F# guys get dates right" well, they didn't actually do anything, the question just uses normal .Net DateTime

@svick - I was trying to be funny about F# people getting dates .... like, 'Hey gorgeous, see you at the local cafe for a latte, later?' (or is that 'Hey handsome ....').
You now, it's been years since I have been ona date with some hot person I just met...

oh, i didn't get that, now i feel stupid :-)

@svick - see, that's my goal in life, to make people feel stupid .... but, in fairness, my dry and sarcastic South African sense of humour got perverted when I lived in the UK, and then went through the PC wash when I moved to Canada. Now my witty sarcastic jokes are a little bit racy, but not racy enough to be funny.
So, if you don't get my jokes, it's not your fault.... it's the governments.

wow, you've been around

... typed a response... got:
This message is too long.
yes, I have been around.

He also answered CR's first question, AND with a Necromancer badge. I'd be scared if I were you.

I have worked Mainframes, Mini's was there for the Client-Server 'phase', hit the UK in the .com bubble....

worked the EMU and then y2K. Met my future (Canadian) wife in the Alps (Austria).
Moved to Canada, got married, settled down, started singing along to BNL... eh.
Survived too many recessions and bursts too count.

@Jamal that post is worthy of a star

(is it cheeky if I starred it?)

@rolfl lol

Well, now it could be, since it's no longer secret. ;-)

6:49 PM
1906! Welcome to the 20th century, @retailcoder! (self-pat-on-the-back)

Starring Gif does not make gif appear in margin

7:12 PM
lol

lol

ah wth, lol
@Jamal since the tag was created, would you put a on the meta post?
and why am I the only one following that tag? :p

@retailcoder I am following that tag now too
I am going to try to get my cousin to do one in Ruby

Done.

Is there a [badge:peer pressure] for following (which, should be abbreviated to just WC

7:26 PM
I might try to figure out some more javascript and see what I can come up with as well

@Malachi why does the kitten keep falling in the tub? ... you would think it would learn

@rolfl I don't like disemvowelling, especially for naming-sensitive things such as tags. Or was that a subtle joke about French people calling toilets a "W.C."?

@rolfl I know right, I think that is part of the message, that we don't learn, we keep coming back for more

*European French I meant.

@retailcoder LOL

7:28 PM
is that tag-follower-whoring?

7:58 PM
@rolfl, @SimonAndréForsberg here's one for you guys:

Q: Generic DAO written in Java

Aseem BansalI initially thought that this was just an architecture issue so I placed it on programmers as Thoughts on refactoring a generic DAO. Then I asked on codereview meta here and decided to put up the code here. Here's a github link if someone wants to see there. There are four DAOs - DAODelete, DA...

@retailcoder, that is exactly what I was talking about. IDisposable has it's own dispose method.

@Malachi yup. sorry I think I misunderstood something here...

you have to implement it's dispose method if you create a class inheriting the IDisposable method
no it's me
I didn't read that whole paragraph @retailcoder

@Malachi IDisposable is an interface which defines a Dispose() method :)

@retailcoder right.

8:05 PM
@retailcoder The English call it a W.C. too (water closet)

@rolfl so it was a joke?
(I'm so dumb)

@retailcoder well, yeah, but, remember what I said earlier ... everything's a joke.

8:18 PM
@rolfl looking at your avatar, I can't help singing Peter Gabriel's Shock the Monkey in my head...

@retailcoder Pleased that I keep you entertained ....
@retailcoder - not particularly interested in that DAO one.... tl;dr, got work to do.
(powerppoint... whoo hoo!)

don't you know you're gonna shock the monkey, shock the monkey-ee, monkey, monkey-ee

I get much more work done without the ding!

@rolfl (ding!)

Not sure whether Bjork or Simon and Garfunkel are appropriate right now.

8:23 PM

Q: I have to hand in this homework in 20 minutes Python

Yann BohbotHey I have a code here that works fine. I would like though to change the while section if possible into another loop but I don't know which to use. If there's also a way to make this code shorter I would appreciate it a lot. raw = raw_input() x,y,cf,jump,cu = raw.split() x = int(x) y = int(y) ...

Q: Bootstrap modal form submission [PHP review], am I missing something?

Nick_inawThis is my index.php <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.0/jquery.min.js"> </script> <link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="js/bootstrap.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <div id="thanks"><p><

@Jamal I think codereview.stackexchange.com/q/35453 and codereview.stackexchange.com/q/36505 should not deserve the tag. If trivial arithmetic is included, then could include just about every question rather than just interesting mathematical questions.

@200_success: That's fine with me. You may remove those tags.

9:31 PM
trying to get vGoff back into some code review codereview.stackexchange.com/users/18993/vgoff

@Malachi is helping?

i haven't had any votes since it was tagged. I also shared all the posts on Google+ hoping that some people would see our code and come check us out
wrote my first FIZZBUZZ in JAVASCRIPT on CodeAcademy
I should look at the rules for the real game and see what I can come up with, that looks like fun

10:17 PM
Oops, I just accidentally voted to reopen codereview.stackexchange.com/review/reopen/14854, and I can't retract it. Fortunately it would still need more votes to reopen.

@200_success I just voted to leave closed
