Q: My iteration is going through twice and can't tell why

user2817130I am making a Tic Tac Toe game and can't figure out why my comp is making two random moves at the end. I will gladly supply more or all of the code, please ask. I just can't tell if it is making the mistakes outside of this function. Please bear with me because I am relatively new. def comp...

Q: Advance word match javascript library

user32025I am looking for a word match library that can be used for "text suggestion" drop down menu. Few criteria of what I am talking about: The .search or indexOf will match with anything but don't differentiate words like "The", "An"... in beginning of the string. For example, if query=the, then i...

Q: How to improve this Python3 script for concatenating delimited text files?

GregoryI need to concatenate a bunch of delimited text files. In the process, I need to add a new column to the data based on part of the name of one of the directories containing each file. The script works, but I have a feeling that it is inelegant in the extreme. In particular, I'm wondering whether...

Q: In-order Predecessor BST review

Adam R.I was referred here from StackOverflow, so here is what I posted over there: So, for an assignment, I have to construct a binary search tree, plus an assortment of related functions. I have them all working, but I'm looking for a way to optimize my way of finding in-order predecessors and succes...

@ninjaDeveloper Hello
the forces that be must think that we don't need another moderator at the moment, or maybe they think that @Jamal and I need more Rep before they make either of us a Moderator.

Q: Design choice of existing code; Programmers.SE or CodeReview.SE?

Ulf ÅkerstedtI want to ask a question about an abstract factory that I have implemented but am in doubt of the best design choice. My question is about should I have a design that requires addition of new make methods to the factory interface when extension is called upon, or should I use a generic approach t...

@Malachi We've had in the last week or two there were two questions like that... making sure all three sites understand the scope of the other (I suspect CR is the least understood of them).

mazen.r.fThis is relatively long code. Please take a look at this code if you are still willing to do so. I will appreciate your feedback. Q: Insertion sort algorithm strings in parallel arrays

JamesCI would like some input to make sure I have everything correct. I am in a intro class and we work with generic pseudo code, no specific language. I feel that I have all of my logic correct. I am sorting a single array that holds string values, while keeping the other arrays parallel to the one be...

So anyways, just giving you guys a heads up of something that might be of interest on another Meta site.

I think that "evaluating code for a graph" should have been sent to SO. i can't even comment on either post they are both locked

@Malachi: I'm inclined to say that the main factor here could be time spent on the site. For instance, I haven't been here for a year yet, although I've done a lot in those several months. Rep, on the other hand, may not be a large factor for me, considering codesparkle is still a moderator despite not being considered a trusted user rep-wise. Or maybe SE just needs a lot of time to really decide who should be appointed.

@Jamal : I hear what you are saying. there is a user that is like 40 days old and has amassed over 1500 rep already. can't think of the name of the user

@Malachi Yep, I flagged it as such after it got mistakingly migrated here

right now I am just trying to get to the 1K mark!!!

I believe this migration to CR is incorrect. The key bit is in the question (a bit hard to find, but...): "i have spent two days trying to come up with a code to represent a graph , then calculate the shortest path using dijkastra algorithm , but i am not able to get the right result , even the code runs without errors , but the result is not correct , always i am getting 0." --- This is debugging code, not reviewing existing code. It doesn't work right and is thus off topic on CR. – MichaelT Nov 4 at 20:25 helpful

@MichaelT: I did the same thing

5:19 PM
@Malachi: Nice. I can understand that, considering reviews were done in multiple languages. I can only review in one, so naturally I'll earn less rep over time.

5:29 PM
@Jamal: you mean you can only review edits in one language? I forgot all about that. what language do you get? c++?

@Malachi: Yes, just C++ and a little C. There's also assembly, but I still know too little to review it.

5:56 PM
@Jamal: I need to get to work on the C# and SQL stuff then and Javascript. is it only the tags that you have answers in? or how does that work?

@Malachi: Yes, I've only answered C/C++ questions.

6:36 PM
don't you have to have so many answers for the tag before you can review edits on those tags?

@Malachi: No, you can review any edit. One difference is that, here, 1500 rep is required for reviewing tag wiki suggestions. Everything else is 1000.

6:58 PM
@Jam
@Jamal:well when I reach 1K then I will shoot for 1.5K lol there is a lot that I have to shoot for. especially since I think that all the privileges change when CR graduates as well

@Malachi: That's correct. Fortunately by then, I'll still have editing privileges, but I'll lose everything after that. I am looking forward to trusted user privileges, primarily so that I can cast delete votes on answers.

7:16 PM
@Jamal: me too. I also enjoy the learning that comes from reviewing code and having my code reviewed. I am learning so much just doing those things here

7:31 PM
@Malachi: Same here. Many of these things are just not taught in school.

I only have an associates degree, and grazed the surface of different languages and went flying past, so I didn't get a whole lot of in depth on any of the languages that we did learn, very basic Design patterns and the such. I am only getting better by Learning from GOOGLE and SO/CR/Programmers/Etc.
