@Bread The idea that it has to do with being rather than doing makes sense in terms of a commentary on Gabriel Marcel by Kenneth Gallagher. He also describes Marcel as having a communal aspect to being. What is primary is not I am but we are. We know ourselves only in a community, assuming I understood it correctly.

@FrankHubeny While Marcel recognized that human interaction often involved objective characterization of "the other", he still asserted the possibility of "communion" – a state where both individuals can perceive each other's subjectivity. I like Marcel's thinking, from what I've learned from you and Wiki. I'd like to read The Mystery of Being and The Decline of Wisdom as they're freely available on archive. org And I appreciate so much that you have brought it to my attention, thank you.

This evening I plan initially to try listening to a few videos about Marcel on youtube There are even a couple good ones of the gentleman himself speaking in French language, and fortunately it is possible to activate French subtitles that may be automatically translated further into English. Sounds like fun to me, lol. If I get tired of that, I can always turn to the books.
