@glS The former is something I'd maybe think about doing. My issue comes more from considering e.g. a unitary operation - I'd normally consider it an operation first and foremost, even though, technically, describing it as a channel is perfectly valid
Like, to me, saying 'what operation can I use to get from [here] to [there]?' is different to 'what channel can I use ...'
Then again, that's really because I'm misusing 'operation' as 'unitary operator', but unitary operators are more common than 'CP but not CPTP maps, so in that case, in my opinion, it needs more clarification as 'nonunitary operation', at the least
@glS I'm pretty confused as to how operator-sum has questions and kraus-representation doesn't though
@Mithrandir24601 I'd say it's simply because operator-sum was created first, for whatever reason, and people used it because it already existed. If we create kraus-representation I think it would be preferred. If we have them as synonyms we don't even have the problem
