@glS The former is something I'd maybe think about doing. My issue comes more from considering e.g. a unitary operation - I'd normally consider it an operation first and foremost, even though, technically, describing it as a channel is perfectly valid
Like, to me, saying 'what operation can I use to get from [here] to [there]?' is different to 'what channel can I use ...'
Then again, that's really because I'm misusing 'operation' as 'unitary operator', but unitary operators are more common than 'CP but not CPTP maps, so in that case, in my opinion, it needs more clarification as 'nonunitary operation', at the least
@glS I'm pretty confused as to how has questions and doesn't though
Like, I find it odd, but is that what that sub-field actually commonly uses?

@Mithrandir24601 I'd say it's simply because was created first, for whatever reason, and people used it because it already existed. If we create I think it would be preferred. If we have them as synonyms we don't even have the problem
@Mithrandir24601 mmh I'm not sure I follow. What would be the difference between those two phrasings?
it just sounds to me like the former is a more precise way to ask the latter

@glS This is fair. I have to go and do some shopping now and won't be free until the evening (I've got stuff on this weekend), so I'll get back to you then
