@ff524 I do have a question for you. Would you mind answering me?
I guess any mod can answer this question. How much freedom does a mod have when he/she performs Review queue? I understand mods have binding powers. What I want to know is, is there any other limit that usual users are not aware of?

@scaaahu The only limit is that if you use binding votes too freely, users may complain. And you cannot use non-binding votes.
However, as a moderator your main focus will probably be the flag queue, which is exclusive to moderators.

@Wrzlprmft You have two diamonds. Do you use do review queue very frequently? Or you usually are very busy with flag queues of the other two sites? I don't see you use too many Review queues on our sites, was it because of the habit you grew while on the other two sites? or you just don't use the Review queue on our site?
@Wrzlprmft Sorry that I ask some question that may make you feel hard time, but the question I am asking bothers me a lot recently. Thanks.
08:08
@Wrzlprmft Never mind. I think I figure out the answer myself. If I am elected a mod, I will lose the freedom to some extent, unless I leave the post. Thanks for the answer. If I ever bother you anything by asking some awkward questions, I apologize.

@scaaahu I use the close queue on Graphic Design frequently because it’s notoriously full and a source of dispute. Except for that I do not review that much on the sites I moderate, which is partially due to the power of the binding vote and partially due to focussing on bigger problems.
@scaaahu While I do not review as much as you do, I believe do review a lot on Academia and it’s certainly my main activity on the site. I just didn’t review that much in the last weeks due to being on a sort of SE hiatus.
09:27
@scaaahu And don’t worry about your question. It did not inconvenience me at all.

@nengel I am in CET (UTC + 1.5 ± 0.5).

@scaaahu sometimes my binding vote is frustrating and means I vote to close things less often. This is particularly true if I think a question is a duplicate, but want confirmation. In those cases I just leave comments. Our users are so good that they usually close everything that I would vote to close.
One extra toothat we have is we can migrate questions to other sites.
@scaaahu the diamond will likely change your behavior a little, but I think overall you will find it satisfying since it will let you help in other ways.
@Wrzlprmft your answer about handling comments seems pretty strong in favor of deletion compared to what our users want. Do you think you could temper your moderation of comments between the different sites you moderate on.

@StrongBad your answer about handling comments seems pretty strong in favor of deletion compared to what our users want. – Really? I checked the other candidates and feel that I am somewhere in the middle. Maybe I need to phrase something more clearly.
@Wrzlprmft I recall from this meta post (academia.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/3919/…) that you casted the delete vote for somewhat edgy case (at least in my opinion). Will being a mod change your behavior for this particular case, since your vote will be binding?
This is with respect to your last answer to the question about how diamond moderator will be seen under different light. You said that you don't intend to change how you speak. I probably will be more adverse to seeing that answer deleted by a single mod than seeing 5 community users vote to delete.
@Hosea In general, with answers-to-another-question deletes it is often easy to miss some aspect and it can also be subject to interpretation what exactly the question wants. Therefore having more than one person review the answer and decide upon the deletion is a good thing and I would only use a binding vote in clear cases.
In the particular case in question, I would not have deleted unilaterally, but I would have flagged the post as NAA (which sends it to the queue even if I am a moderator) or cast a third delete vote (which would delete it if I am no moderator).
@Hosea While I do not intend to change the way I speak, I do intend to change the way I act, in particular when the diamond affects the outcome (e.g., with deletion or close votes).

@Wrzlprmft Thanks for the clarification :) I also see that you already have 2 diamonds. Having observed your past activities, I do not doubt your commitment and level of moderation you'll perform in Academia, but at the same time academians are busy people. Being a mod means you now have obligation to moderate, and can't take "SE hiatus" for too long. Do you think you'll be able to balance being a mod for 3 sites?
@Wrzlprmft Apologies for asking too many questions (hopefully not too personal). I do not have anything against you and I think you'll be an excellent mod if you are elected :)
@Hosea Small hiatuses are quite normal for moderators to take, which is one of the reasons why there is a team of moderators. Usually this is not made public (why would it?), so it’s not easy to notice.
@Hosea As I already said in my nomination, I still do a lot of reviewing on Academia despite having two moderatorships. I would merely shift that time and effort to moderator duties.
Also, if I had to pick one site to moderate, I would choose Academia since my dedication to the topic is somewhat deeper than the other two, which are “just” hobbies.
@Wrzlprmft Alright :) Thanks for answering my question. Thank you for all your work in Academia too!

@Wrzlprmft For the record, I view your answer on comments as pretty similar to mine. Somewhat less equivocal in language, perhaps, but functionally similar.
@Fomite Good, so it’s not just me …
Indeed not.
