@antimony I think your referring to the problem of how do we get classical from quantum mechanics and as far as I remember there isn't a straight forward way of doing this especially with the subtleties involved.
Also apparently there is potential energy transformation law in Galenian relativity O_O

Nope wait I skimmed again

@JohnRennie hope you don't mind me pinging you. But do u see any fallacy in my line of reasoning in my latest question? It's classical mechanics and you like to explain that kind of stuff (usually to kids :P ) so I pinged :P

So I've managed to confuse myself. We know if the energy equal to the potential energy then point at which the energy exceeds the potential energy it behaves like a turning point (slide 2). Usually in the collision of (say billiard) rigid balls we assume $V = \infty$. I realized since it's behavi...

@MoreAnonymous This?

@JohnRennie yup

So we could for example put a particle in a finite potential well with a depth of 6J and give the particle a KE of 5J, then the turning points are at the walls where V > KE.
And you you're asking what if we now transport the whole system at some high speed so the KE becomes ¹⁄₂m(v + some high speed)² and it's a lot greater than 6J?

yup

Hi there, I posted a Q on MSE but obtained no resonance. As it's strongly physically motivated maybe someone of you can help me here a bit? math.stackexchange.com/questions/4477140/…
In particular I would be happy on some hints on how to perform such a decomposition numerucally. i.e. if you have "only" numercial access to the field.

@JohnRennie feel free to directly write an answer. I'm replying intermittently cause I'm suppose to be at work

Are there non-conformal QFTs that don't have particle interpretations?

9:13 AM
What do you call a particle interpretation?

@Slereah what?

9:30 AM
See line above

ah ..
I think he's talking about how you can go between a qm theory and qft

ahh thanks @MoreAnonymous yes thats basically what i meant
