Q: What to do about this man spamming the site post which doesn't seem to be Questions but rather a show off?

Ramanujan_πRecently this person sudhakaran, also Sudhakaran, is posting his papers on the site in the name of Questions but which doesn't seem so. Rather they are (a kind of) show off. Aren't there any policies for such (as we have for Homework and Exercise type question)? Also is there any thing to stop su...

Q: Are there certain times of day that are best for posting questions and Answers on Physics Stack Exchange as of late 2019?

Anders GustafsonI was wondering if there are certain times of day, and of the week that questions are most likely to get the most high quality answers on Physics Stack Exchange accounting for the questions asked, and when looking to answer questions if there are times that are most likely to have questions that ...

Hi all,
when I look at IR emission spectra of the earths atmosphere I see something near the CO$_2$ vibrational Q-band looking like a "spike". What does it mean? I would expect the inverse shape of the CO$_2$ absorption spectrum.

i was scrolling through news and came across this article (the clickbait feels strong in this one), claiming recent work in this paper is evidence towards a fifth fundamental force. I don't know enough here - is this bs or legit?

Hey there. My textbook says that atoms bond together because the compound that results is more stable and lower energy, and that the energy escapes as heat. Is it that upon the bonding of two atoms, a photon is emitted?

morning
I just spent 4 days partying
So I could use a cup of mathematician's helper
(ie amphetamines)

@ZeroTheHero =) appreciated, of course

@heather Hi! There's a question on the main site:

Q: Is the "protophobic fifth force" observed in nuclear decays a new fundamental force?

RodriguezThere is a recent paper in PRL, also on the ArXiv that claims the discovery of a fifth force, mediated by a 17 MeV boson, which explains an anomaly in nuclear decays. Is this a real effect? Could the claimed particle be some sort of composite particle such as a pion?

@Slereah :) Also see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrism

"chrism is usually olive oil"
Delicious
@Slereah Careful with that stuff youtu.be/wkUGDYjYgMs ;)
IIRC from historical analysis, Erdos basically took amphetamines in a dose consistent with like
ADHD medication
I can understand, rly
Doing math with ADHD ain't easy
The 70 unfinished articles on my site can attest
The hell is a gwistor
11:53
@Slereah Probably. I read The Man Who Loved Only Numbers about 15 years ago. Erdős self-medicated with amphetamines and lots of coffee. When he was young, various amphetamines were legally available, even without prescription. In the US, they weren't controlled until the late 50s, and were still easy to obtain legally into the 70s.

"History tells us that the Khan’s advisors were so concerned about his drinking that they staged a sort of medieval Mongolian intervention, begging him to cut down. Ogedei was moved by their plea, and swore to limit himself to one cup of alcohol a day from then on. But he later regretted his pledge and ordered the imperial artisans to create a purpose-made giant cup that could hold as much alcohol as he wanted."
13:08
@F.White Sometimes photons are emitted, but the energy can also be released as kinetic energy, vibrating or moving the molecules. And some reactions are endothermic.

Q: Are Questions about Unrealistic Physics Off Topic?

JamesA few days ago a question was asked about how close one could safely approach a small non-radiating black hole. A comment was made that "Micro black holes do evaporate, so this question is fictional physics and off-topic". However, there are many highly upvoted questions on the site about non-r...

@Slereah I <3 Genghis Khan
He was actually an alien sent to earth
That was Ogedei Khan

@Slereah seems his brother
Son, actually
@Slereah your son? cool name
Well I am Genghis Khan, after all
15:12
@Slereah You are an alien sent to earth na? I know you
@Slereah Do you know where you died? (That place is still a secret) also, I heard from mongolian people that your hair was pink and skin was blue

Hi I read this question on math.stackexchange, it looks like something related to the KPZ equation, I read about the Källén–Lehmann representation but couldn't work out how to use it here (if it helps), so I was wondering if someone could be interested to give an answer or provide some hint about it, thanks
17:00
@Slereah @EmilioPisanty I've a problem with QM. If $ i\hbar \nabla_x $ is the operator for momentum, then $KE = 1/2m \times p^2$? so, $$ K.E. = 1/2m \alpha^2 $$ where $$ \alpha\psi = i\hbar \nabla_x \psi $$
But it's $$ KE =(1/2m) \hat p^2 _x \nabla^2_x \psi$$
17:48
@AbhasKumarSinha Where did that formula come from?
My wife gave birth this morning (EST zone). So I’m a dad again.

Q: what exactly does "near complete" mean?

AlfredOne of my answers to an "homework and exercise" question was deleted on the ground of being "near complete". In fact, knowing I was not supposed to give a complete answer, I was careful not to solve the problem to the end. The concept of "near complete" is a bit "fuzzy", isn't it ?

@AbhasKumarSinha what? That's nowhere near correct.
@KyleKanos congratulations!!!
@ACuriousMind So, I'll actually be in Walldorf in January to attend the Hasso Plattner award stuff... we should meet up and chat a bit? I'll finally get to meet the famous ACM. XD
@enumaris Neat! Remind me a bit closer to the date and we'll figure something out. Are you nominated or just attending?
23:15
@EmilioPisanty thanks!
23:29
@ACuriousMind I am nominated XD I will remind you closer to January
I went to Seattle last week to participate in filming a commercial for our project...wonder if that's up somewhere yet...
@enumaris Congrats! I'll look for the commercials ;)
XD
Thank you :D
