There is a key difference between your usual programming variables and physics/mathematical variables: In code, a variable is a container or placeholder - in mathematics/physics, a variable carries specific meaning, often only valid in certain contexts and under certain assumptions etc. Using a mathematical/physical formula requires you to know/study how it came to be, what the assumptions and requirements are etc. In this study, the variables will be defined. Describing those variables in easier terms, will not relieve you from having to study the formula. —
