The notes are purely SW theory, but there's a small section regarding Donaldson's original proof of his famous theorem on diagonalization of definite intersection forms
SW theory is in a precise sense equivalent (there's a formula relating the SW invariants to Donaldson's invariants) and a bit easier because the moduli space of solutiosn to the SW equations is nicer than the moduli space needed for Donaldson theory, in particular it is compact
So that's why we did that, and why I think most people do that
