@tpg2114 Not just you, I thought it might be as well
but I wasn't sure enough to close it

@Qmechanic Regarding this, only a small part was actually copied from my other answer. Most of it, I had wrote it (without copying).

@DavidZ I get that feeling with other questions too:

Q: Why does a bicycle come to rest after travelling a distance?

CURIEAccording to Newton's law of motion, an object that is in motion will not change its velocity unless an external force acts upon it. In the case of a bicycle, if it is in motion with a certain velocity, it should not come to rest unless a force acts on it. In practice, we see the bicycle come to ...

How that got +5 I'll never know. But that also sounds like a conceptual "intro to physics" homework question

@tpg2114 yeah, but you get to actually flag/VTC the questions in those cases
I often find it annoying that I can't cast a non-binding close vote

@DavidZ I also think it would be nice if 2k+ rep users could make a suggested edit for something we think is a good edit but would like a review on it... Maybe that's something that could be brought up -- a way to waive privileges temporarily
05:51
@tpg2114 yeah, I can see the use of that, but I don't think it's quite so important of an issue because edits are so easy to roll back. So in a case like that, you can just make the edit and then post in chat or add a comment asking for a second opinion on it.
With close votes it's trickier because if we mods are too active with it, other people stop casting close votes of their own, and also there's always going to be someone who complains about abuse of moderator powers and such ;-)
If you want to propose the edit thing on MSO, it might not be a bad idea, but my hunch is that the SE team won't go for it.
The problem it solves doesn't seem to be particularly pressing.

@KendallFrey Extending "normal" coordinates from far away into the black hole, what you get as you cross the event horizon is that space and time switch roles. That is, you can no more avoid moving inward on the inside than you can avoid moving forward in time on the outside. Even photons move forward in time on the outside. See physics.stackexchange.com/questions/57726/… for example (and I'm sure there are similar question/answers out there already).
Ah, yay, @ChrisWhite steps in to fix all of the mistakes I must've made while explaining :P
user54412
@ManishEarth tbh, i only skimmed what you said to make sure you didn't post that same link ;)
user54412
@ManishEarth does the SE engine auto-remove signatures from posts in any cases?
user54412
I was about to edit it out of the newest question and leave a welcome message to the user, but he/she seems to be currently editing it (within the grace period so it doesn't count as an edit?)
user54412
10:35
but i wonder if this is hesitation on exact wording on the user's part, or if the engine is reverting attempts to put in a name?
user54412
hmmm, that's like the 6th or 7th edit in as many minutes - likely just a hesitant OP
user54412
they'll CW their own post soon enough at this rate o.O
@ChrisWhite I think it removes the most obvious ones. Or, it doesn't let the user submit a post with it
What do you mean by hesitation?
Oh, grace period
user54412
the edits were mostly minor rewordings - which is admittedly what I would do if I didn't know (1) that will CW a post and (2) that bumps the post
They won't CW
user54412
10:46
the grace period ones won't, but if spaced out enough they surely will?
user54412
in other news, I just got a Nice Answer badge for what I think is my most downvoted answer
O_0
@ChrisWhite -2 is most downvoted?
hello ladies...
user54412
I think - perhaps it's a tie

I don't answer controversial things like "Why is string theory so great?" or "Why are nuclear reactors unsafe?"
@ChrisWhite haha
does it make sense to use joule as a unit of torque?
I just saw it in a book
user54412
@ShuklaSannidhya it's consistent but very unusual
user54412
hmmm, the sun is coming up - great chance to catch Mars and Jupiter

@Hennes bahahahahahaha
The damn Australians got there first, but soon we to will have a platypus bomb. ;)
yes, we Aussies got it first
I guess having a nice big continent means plenty of space to hide a really big collider.

Q: Mainstream scientists and physics SE

rijul guptaThis one is gonna sound absoultely nuts, but as far as I know this here is the best site to discuss and develop mainstream physics had there been some facility to remotely do experiments on good equipment science would be developing and progressing right here. My questions is that even though w...

Q: Physics vs philosophy

rijul guptaI understand we deal with mainstream physics here but as physics has been developed from philosophy only why are questions based on speculations and those which are related to looking for possibilities discouraged?

Q: Thank you for editing

rijul guptaWhy can't we say thank you or leave other comments when someone edits our post (those that are done without approval) ?
