@AbhasKumarSinha What I'm saying is that for a lot of people, having such a broad basis might be counterproductive, if you're planning on studying something that would only apply content from a few of the books.
It might not hurt to have broad knowledge, but it also might take away time from studying deeper in the concepts you're really focused on.

user434058
@JMac The funny thing is that me and and thousands of other students are going to choose a computer stream/course and in high school computer is an optional subject (like you can either choose Phys. Ed. or computer). And ironically we are not taught programming, we are taught chemistry and other stuff which will never be of our use...

One could similarly go in circles for years with elementary Euclidean geometry and ignore everything else in math

@ACuriousMind That's pretty cool. Thanks for indulging me.

@AbhasKumarSinha good one

@bolbteppa okay... Will that be helpful?
@dumbasarock Thanks buddy?

2:02 PM
so you are a jee aspirant i see

@dumbasarock JEE?
@dumbasarock you too?

user434058
I support JEE, but there should be a limited syllabus, or even better, specialised syllabus.

no I was 4 years back got 115 without coaching thought of joining one but DU called me
now I regret

The fact that you can find JEE aspirants on almost every STEM related websites will never cease to amaze me. :)

@FakeMod I support JEE, because we need to be competitive, more... That's our personal requirements... Everyday, I challenge myself to that extent like solve without pen and paper or solve it in a very different way helps me to think to the level which I couldn't have without JEE.

2:05 PM
@FakeMod I was only able to take one computer course in high school, and it was a joke. (First month was 100 questions about the history of technology, with all the answers coming from a stack of wikipedia articles that were printed out and handed to us; then we learned to use Microsoft office, even though we had been using it for years). They offered one programming course; but I wasn't even able to take it because it conflicted with a science course I needed.

@HrishabhNayal You too JEE guy?

user434058
@HrishabhNayal There are thousands of them, what do you expect? :)

@AbhasKumarSinha Yes!

@JMac Me too Computer Science...
@HrishabhNayal K... Cool.

@FakeMod More like a million

user434058
2:06 PM
@JMac It's the exact opposite here. We strive to become engineers however we are taught some serious science stuff which only matters if you want to pursue a career in science...

from what I recall 10 Lakh appeared for JEE back in 2016

@HrishabhNayal I love negative marking... add this too.

@AbhasKumarSinha So how was jan attempt? If you wanna tell

user434058
@dumbasarock The total number stays around 12-13 lakhs.

2:07 PM
@FakeMod I guess that JIO revolution will soon change that....
@bolbteppa lol XD

@JMac no worries, it's pretty neat

user434058
@bolbteppa Shit! I just saw this an hour ago... r/physicsmemes?

@bolbteppa you copied that for reddit

I would never have known about this engineer $\pi = 3$ thing if it wasn't for physicsmemes

@FakeMod reddit?

2:08 PM

user434058
@bolbteppa Haha! This was the first one there...

@bolbteppa Nambu Goto String.

@bolbteppa Is that from r/physics memes

@AbhasKumarSinha reddit is not for you pal focus on JEE

Yeah

user434058
2:08 PM
@HrishabhNayal Yes

@FakeMod You too have read string theory?

user434058
@AbhasKumarSinha no

My point is, if you can do 20 Irodov problems, you can probably solve a string theory problem once you build up your basic principles, the choice is up to you

@dumbasarock XD, twitter exists :p

@bolbteppa I have an engineering degree and I wouldn't have known that if it weren't for online memes.

user434058
2:09 PM
But I get the idea.

I have four OG memes of mine in r/physicsmemes can I share my profile here ?

I am now a big fan of these $\pi = 3$ memes

@bolbteppa I'm reading string theory (basis tho... bit slow... but I'll get speed after some time)
@bolbteppa Einstein's formula for pi $$\pi = 2+1$$

user434058
@bolbteppa you can, but a JEE aspirant won't. There's no time!! (I know I am being a hypocrite when I say this...:P

Yeah if you're prepping for those crazy exams it's different

2:10 PM
@FakeMod I read JEE tho....

user434058
@bolbteppa I find them crazy only in the fact that more than a million people are sitting for the test out of which only a tiny fraction will get through.

@FakeMod That's true...

@AbhasKumarSinha You get string theory??!!

@HrishabhNayal basis... just starting.

user434058
I am perfectly fine with the exam being hard. I don't expect my country to create dumb engineers by giving them simple stuff in the exams...

2:13 PM
@FakeMod I second that. That's pride...

@FakeMod +1

user434058
Thank you! :)

@FakeMod +1

@AbhasKumarSinha Wait so you understand the basics?!!
I could never get past relativity

@HrishabhNayal Basis only... Just started... not I now everything....
@HrishabhNayal Read now :-)
@HrishabhNayal Read Ray DeInverno

2:15 PM
"It's fine", said the man, a boot eternally stomping his face, "we wouldn't want people who can't tolerate the boot to succeed."

^My favorite GR book. (beginners)

user434058
And still the irony is that despite the toughness, most of the JEE aspirants are dumber than you'd expect. So it's not working as it should be but at least it's better than an easy exam...

user434058
@ACuriousMind Context please?

@FakeMod he meant what you said earlier the exam should be tough

@FakeMod If you're so smart that you're fine with all the "dumb" people failing I'd expect you to be able to figure it out :^)

2:17 PM

@FakeMod But giving them hard stuff on the entrance exam doesn't really tell you much about the engineers they will become... What if your country is stifling good engineers by making the barriers to entry too high, or the exams don't perfectly screen for the right type of people.

^Most inspirational thing on a textbook
All those dumb people are just Arts students who became engineer due to parental pressure.

@AbhasKumarSinha I must agree :)

@HrishabhNayal Engineer truly by heart is never dumb, tho, he may be a slow learner.

@AbhasKumarSinha why would you say something so controversial yet so true

2:20 PM
XD :-P

user434058
@ACuriousMind I knew that probably you were talking about that statement but your interpretation is completely wrong. We are not learning all this tough stuff for others (or for others to tread/boot on us). All this hardwork/toughness makes us better and stronger. It is for our benefit that we are building the capacity to crack JEE.

@FakeMod True.

"The boot makes you stronger", said the man, "Otherwise your nose would break the first time someone kicked you in the face"

@AbhasKumarSinha ... So I'm someone who probably couldn't pass one of the Indian exams for engineering. Yet I had planned on studying engineering since I was like 13, from my own decisions based on what I was interested in. By your standards, I might have been one of those "dumb" people because I couldn't have passed the exams there...

@JMac dumb -> not interested in engineering but forced to do one.

2:23 PM
I wanted to be theoretical physicist
@AbhasKumarSinha What about unfavourable circumstances?

"Could we make it so people don't get kicked in the face at all?", I asked. "Don't be silly! That's just the way the world works."

user434058
@JMac That may be possible, true. But the main reason why we are failing to get the best engineers and other workforce of the best quality is because children are not studying what they love, rather they are studying what is dictated to them by the curriculum or their parents. And as for your next statement, JEE do screen out the best of the best every year (except the reservations), so that isn't a problem

@HrishabhNayal Life is very long... nothing unfavorable remains forever. There are people who start going to school after 50(s), just be competitive , be a learner

Q: How is this a homework problem?

OhMyGaussHomework problem ?? How is the problem in the above link a homework problem ? Really ? In which part of this world has a high school student ever received this kind of problem in "homework" ?? This is an un-conventional question which people have no idea how to solve so that does not mean its a ...

@AbhasKumarSinha Yeah that is the beleif I am currently living on :-)

2:26 PM
@HrishabhNayal That's good. Hope you becoming a successful learner

user434058
@ACuriousMind Nobody is going to kick us! See, the final goal is to get in a good uni so after you graduate, you get a good funding for your startup (the employee are definitely gonna get booted) and then you use your boot strength you earned during JEE to boot your employees.

Wow.

user434058
ACM is definitely roasting me today :P

@FakeMod are/were you JEE aspirant too ?

@FakeMod I don't see how screening for the best of the best proves that you get the people who actually want it most... Peoples parents often pressure them into doing things they want (it was even the example you guys gave...) I bet there are plenty of students pressured into getting into a prestigious engineering school, especially in India where it seems to be more important.

2:28 PM
@FakeMod If you can do JEE, then you can do anything... The level of hardwork for JEE is sufficient for any other line...

user434058
@HrishabhNayal Frankly, even I want to be a theoretical physicist, but I am just unclear of what I will do if I become one, so I have left that option...

user434058
@dumbasarock I am

@FakeMod So you really think the goal is to get to the top and let all the 'dumb people' suffer under you and you don't see anything wrong with that?

@JMac Purpose of screening is that... Good universities don't get the students they want they make the students they want
@ACuriousMind yes

For a moment I thought I was being a bit unfair but that's just...breathtaking in its lack of compassion.

2:30 PM
lol

@AbhasKumarSinha I second that. IITians crack UPSC within a year in BTech appearing

user434058
@ACuriousMind I definitely see that it's wrong. There are two choices, boot others or get booted. For now, there's not a third choice (like the one you wished for) and I don't know how to change this (honestly I am ready to change this, if it doesn't take my whole life to do it)...

7 mins ago, by ACuriousMind
"Could we make it so people don't get kicked in the face at all?", I asked. "Don't be silly! That's just the way the world works."

Those who require compassion will get it, just work hard, you are born to run, not to wait.

@AbhasKumarSinha Now I'm confused. "Good universities don't get the students they want they make the students they want" Then why do they screen so hard? It seems like more of the opposite to me, if they are specifically screening for the very top.

2:31 PM
I do not get why you claim I'm being 'completely wrong' when you now agree with me that it's bad!
You're making the exact argument I caricatured there

@JMac Come to our system, feel the fun.

@AbhasKumarSinha That doesn't make your seeming contraction any less confusing.

If it were so easy to explain, then I'd have explained everyone here.

@JMac JEE exam is about rejection. You don't select students you reject them.

user434058
@JMac There is rarely anyone who wasn't genuinely interested but still got into the IITs. That's the beauty of the exams, they are so hard that you onley get through if you are genuinely interested...

2:33 PM
@JMac You are in Olympics to grab medals, not compassion...
@FakeMod true.

user434058
@ACuriousMind I re-thought a few things. My opinions changed, I learnt and thus I changed...

damn ! kids these days

@dumbasarock I'm amused.

user434058
But I might go back to my original stance again when I find a nice reason supporting my original stance :P

My show... I've to go to watch TV... Bye :-)

2:34 PM
you guys are like completely opposite of me here.
smart motivated and got a compassion for your work

@dumbasarock Exclude me

@AbhasKumarSinha Ramayana is at 9 dude what show are going for ?
haha

@FakeMod Even if that's true, what about all the people who are genuinely interested but unwilling or unable to pass the test?

How many of you think he is going to watch Shaktiman lol

@ACuriousMind ssshhh no one talks about them here in India they do LAW

user434058
2:36 PM
@JMac That might be wrong. In India, IITs shouldn't get the credit for the brilliance of the students studying there. They are just a bridge to a better future(hopefully). And you need to be qualified enough to cross that bridge. So IITs don't have a lot of contribution in making someone smart, tye people entering there are already smart.

@dumbasarock So they would be "rejecting the students they don't want" or "getting the students they want", no? That seems still quite different than "making the students they want"; which I would figure would involve teaching the students in the school, and then only passing those who fit their criteria.

There are no entrance exams here at all for most subjects. We've somehow managed to still produce good and capable scientists.

@HrishabhNayal I am in my masters and subjects haunt me

user434058
@ACuriousMind I pity for them.

Whereas they are screening before the school has a chance to make the students they want.

user434058
2:37 PM
@ACuriousMind So are universities open for accepting anyone as a student?

@FakeMod And that's the 'beauty' of the exams? That there are people you can pity?

@JMac when you have 7000 seats and 1 million apply for them you make exam tough to reject them

user434058
@dumbasarock hahaha!

@dumbasarock I understand that; but I would call that "getting the students they want" not "making the students they want"; which is precisely the opposite of what Abhas said a good school would do.

@ACuriousMind ballads are always about whole sailed in the storm and survived not about those who sank

user434058
2:39 PM
@ACuriousMind No. The beauty lies in the fact that only the people who are genuinely interested get through. I did not talk about the ones who are genuinely interested but didn't get through.

@FakeMod Anyone who holds the necessary school diploma, which are currently around half of all students of a cohort, yes

@FakeMod Right... and ACM wants to talk about them because they are also people...

user434058
@ACuriousMind That is really nice and I would like to have that kind of thing here as well.

@ACuriousMind Why do you think you have produced so many great scientists without cutthroat competition?

it's like a deal.
yes student wants a tag and best education of course.
school wants them to go through the hurdle of JEE which only a test or preparation for what comes next.
I would go with pity for those who manage to crack JEE but don't perform well in IITs.

user434058
2:40 PM
@ACuriousMind But what if there are too many people applying for the same uni/college?

@dumbasarock Ah, how could I forget that epics are only about those who succeed! Like Odysseus, who was so successful in his way home it took him years of failure to get back, or Orpheus, who clearly succeeded in rescuing his beloved...

Lol you guessed right... Shaktimaan

suicides due to no being able to cope with studies ? pretty common in
JEE aspirants and those who manage to clear it.

@HrishabhNayal Maybe because it's good lecturers and studying conditions that educate people well, and not competition?

user434058
@JMac The problem is population. We are the second most populous country and we have really few good engineering colleges. As I have said many times, 1.3 million people sit for the test, how could you expect to give everyone what they want without enough seats?

2:42 PM
Mind you, even these IIT failures are very bright... Just dumber in our system

@dumbasarock Which again, I would say is "getting the students they want" not "making the students they want". So my point is is that according to Abhas's own statement, "Good universities don't get the students they want they make the students they want" these universities wouldn't be good... because they would be getting the students they want, not making them.

@AbhasKumarSinha I knew it!!

what I meant sir is that you get a plenty of time before going with science after 10th standard here in India.
still if you chose it and you sank then people look at you with disgrace
sad reality

@HrishabhNayal XD

I'm back. I had to attend a Russian Language class. About our capitalism, socialism debate, I forgot what exactly we where debating.

2:44 PM
@FakeMod I don't know how you solve the problem, but a good start is to not think of them as "dumb" or as any lesser because they didn't pass a particular test.

@FakeMod Simply doesn't happen in most subjects, but in those that are highly popular, there are waiting lists with the people with the best school diplomas and/or relevant working experience in the field (e.g. for medicine) given preference

user434058
@JMac Never!

@NovaliumCompany Don't worry, the subject changed completely and dramatically.

Culture is over competitive, I may agree that.

user434058
@JMac By dumb I only meant dumb as in the limited perspective of engineering, not as a whole.

2:45 PM
@JMac IITs get what they want that's why they get to design the JEE advanced not the education board here.

@JMac But I want to continue our debate thingy, I just forgot what we were debating :D

@dumbasarock yep

@ACuriousMind But how can we reach good lecturers? (not a rhetorical question I hope someone knows)

user434058
@NovaliumCompany About how all this -ism is affecting the JEE :P

Sure, you can't do it like that in a country where there's a much worse ratio of applicants to available places, but the solution doesn't strike me to be simply becoming a fan of that situation and faulting the people who fall through the cracks for that

2:46 PM
Watching show .... 90(s) show... XD

if you think JEE mains is tough than boy advanced is what kills

@ACuriousMind worse?

@FakeMod And I still took quite a bit of offense to that, because I'm literally someone who studied engineering and definitely wouldn't have had the drive or effort to get into a hypercompetitive school like an Indian engineering school. I don't consider myself "dumb"; but your guys' statements kinda imply that you would.

@dumbasarock killer
Competition is goosd.

user434058
@ACuriousMind I agree. We are not fans but hating this system will get us nowhere. We have to stick with it for just a month. Please don't make me rebel :)

2:47 PM
@dumbasarock stop!

@ACuriousMind What exactly were we debating? We can continue it if you like

@YuvrajSingh... IITian entered....

@FakeMod Ah yes! One more month. I almost forgot that XD

@FakeMod I do not fault you for not being a rebel, but I do fault you for actively defending this system (see your starred statements) and gleefully talking about stomping down on the 'dumb people' who are not as lucky.

no one likes it
young brains putting themselves through this peer and parental pressure
but it's like Darwinism at work.
wish we could change it but sadly no ray of hope

2:48 PM
Competition is a good thing. We don't throw out failures... There's no reason to say competition is bad.

One can not be a rebel and not defend the status quo.

@ACuriousMind lol

@AbhasKumarSinha What's funny about that?

@AbhasKumarSinha hi bro:-)

@ACuriousMind i will still defend competition...

2:49 PM
@ACuriousMind A rebel that goes against the system? What kind of madness are you talking about?!

@ACuriousMind just fun....

user434058
@JMac I am sorry if that hurt you. But if we take an analogy, we can relate dumbness to SE question closures. It is not the whole person who is dumb, it is just his competitive exam skills.

@AbhasKumarSinha Just curious, are there advertisements on television or someone just scolded you to get back in room and study?

@HrishabhNayal multitasking
XD

2:50 PM
@FakeMod Have you ever thought about why we don't close questions for being 'stupid'? Precisely because that's not a word you can just apply to a question without also insulting its asker. Same goes for 'dumb'.

@FakeMod "I am perfectly fine with the exam being hard. I don't expect my country to create dumb engineers by giving them simple stuff in the exams..." You implied that they would be dumb at engineering. That's still pretty damn insulting.

@AbhasKumarSinha What?

Agree!

@JMac dumb at our system can be genius at others.

take an example here are these guys @FakeMod @AbhasKumarSinha
guys like these will put themselves through it if they succeed they become renowned otherwise go with their 12th standard marks and join some bachelors course

user434058
2:51 PM
@JMac Alright, not dumb but less intelligent...

@dumbasarock Did I say that?

user434058
Now we are going to enter semantics, replace wherever I said dumb by less intelligent. Does it still hurt?

@FakeMod Oh that's so much better. You were basically just calling me less intelligent. I don't feel insulted by that at all.
(sarcasm meter explodes)

Wow.

2:53 PM
Hey, can anyone tell me like, just as PhD is required for teaching in colleges, what College degree is required for teaching in high school and secondary?

no it is what I did
couldn't succeed JEE got into Physics hnrs with inter marks

I mean, do you even know what an insult is? Of course it's an insult to call someone 'less intelligent' just because they didn't pass your oh-so-wonderful exam!

...in you place

user434058
@JMac I don't know what to say. I definitely didn't mean that. I just wanted to classify people...

@ACuriousMind @Jmac once you be in iit you will feel what it means!

2:54 PM
@JMac so tell us the perfect adverb. We agree, English's not our language

@YuvrajSingh... I will never be in IIT and I'm infinitely thankful for that.

It depends, some places let you have any degree but you have to do a master in teaching, other places let you use your undergrad as part of the qualifications but still need to do some kind of teaching training

Despite all the controversy I think we can all agree that JEE has "some" luck factor associated with it

user434058
Stop beating me guys :P !! Need to go for dinner, bye.

@AbhasKumarSinha For the last time, that is not an excuse to be insulting.

2:55 PM
@ACuriousMind I am not saying in sarcastic way, it is just that in iit too we are like a normal people only who study, but yes we get better opportunities then any other college student get!

I've had it with the "I didn't mean that" replies to thing that are clearly insulting by any possible interpretation

that is general notion of every non-Indian guy.
but when you are in our shoes your eyes never stop glaring when you think about IITs.

@ACuriousMind what are you talking then?

user434058
@ACuriousMind You can't just say that everyone is genius, can you?

@ACuriousMind leaves it, not your piece of cake...

2:56 PM
@bolbteppa thnx

@dumbasarock That one hurts man. Just cause it is so true.:(

@FakeMod I think trying to classify peoples intelligence based on a test is going to cause you problems in general. Quite frankly, I try to avoid classifying people as "stupid" in any topic. I especially avoid saying it in public places... People are complicated and implying that it would produce stupid engineers outside of one particular environment misses way too much nuance about human intelligence and how it is applied.

@ACuriousMind if you don't want to continue the debate, that's fine, but don't leave me hanging please

I had a chance of getting in there by IIT JAM lost that opportunity too.
cause I am @dumb as a rock

@FakeMod No, but it is insulting to imply that people who can't pass an arbitrary exam are 'less intelligent'. Of course people differ in intelligence, but it's just a convenient fiction to assume that everyone that fails a certain test is 'less intelligent'. In the best case, it's just misguided, in the worst case it will be used as a justification for other unrelated things - like your comment about stomping on the employees who didn't pass it!
@NovaliumCompany Can you not see we're currently talking about something else? How many simultaneous conversations do you expect me to be able to hold?

3:00 PM
@ACuriousMind I didn't know you were participating actively sorry

Besides, the discussion was finished from my POV unless you have something that actually responds to what was said and does not make strange assumptions about what happens 'under communism'.

he's kid a probably under 18. it's true only sharp ones go into IITs.
but then again there are other exams too people eventually get what they have knack for

That's a nice thought, that everyone eventually ends up with what they have a knack for. I wish it were true.

@ACuriousMind Darwinism and this thought go hand in hand.

What?

3:06 PM
the thought that people eventually get what they have knack for and darwinism go hand in hand

That's social darwinism, a belief system with a rather ugly history and not a necessary consequence of the scientific theory of darwinist evolution!

@dumbasarock ... How so? Darwinism only talks about which members of a species are more likely to reproduce... It doesn't suggest that everything will end up in the perfect place, it assumes that things which are unfit are less likely to propagate. In relation to Darwinism, the people without a knack would be the ones who die without reproducing... It doesn't suggest that everyone winds up doing what they have a knack for.
It's more like "the ones without a knack have a worse time".

you see these desperate young ones they will eventually succeed and get what they have knack for
today IITs might be their sole goal but who knows what entropy holds for them

@dumbasarock Or they will burn out from the studying, get discouraged from their failure, and wind up doing something they didn't want to; because they still have to provide for themselves and/or their family.

by darwinism I shed light on competition
by "...knack for" I meant you get what you are good at
that happens too of course
didn't I mention the suicides people commit after not succeeding in science
it's an ugly truth

3:11 PM
@dumbasarock Which goes back to what ACM said... "That's a nice thought, that everyone eventually ends up with what they have a knack for. I wish it were true."

Alright this conversation has exceeded my ability to understand. So Imma head out. See ya later guys

I don't have knack for physics but I have to study it cause I have got no other choice
I wish I could succeed here

Because it's quite obviously not true.

@JMac I second that statement of his. cause it's true
not everyone gets but what can we do
I don't see any reform coming soon.

That you can't stop the boot stomping does not mean you must claim that everyone it kicks deserves it!
Is it so hard to just say 'This sucks'? I've had various people here agree with me the system is terrible only to turn around and say something to the tune of 'but the people who lose deserve it anyway'. Are you afraid you become more complicit if you acknowlege the system is unjust than if you pretend it follows some nebulous notions of merit?

3:15 PM
I didn't say that
I said kicks make you stronger
but no not everyone should get one either
but we are lined up until one grabs boot mid-air and does something new we'll just succeed or burn
@ACuriousMind it definitely sucks I said it multiple times
but you can't blame IITs for that
population is to blame
dumb parents are the ones to blame

Ah, and we're back to blaming 'dumb' people.
I'm tired of this, let's just stop.

by dumb parents I meant those who force their pals into this shitstorm
regardless of what their child wants to d
yes we should stop this
it was nice talking to you sir
but what you heard from our side call it a rant or brag
it is the truth.
sorry for my english and punctuation mistakes it's not my first language
you can call this "whining" too

It's not my first language either and I don't think I've called anything "whining"

no you haven't
You have been polite throughout the conversation.
I am just saying this conversation can be interpreted as rant/brag/whine

This episode wasn't that fun
He always comes up with some powers, new ones, he doesn't has fixed powers
that's boring.

it's a 90s show what do you expect.
watch Ramayana instead it'll calm you

@dumbasarock Btw, the actress.... I like her tho
XD
just fun...#no_offence
@dumbasarock Ramayana was made during early 90(s), so animations and sound effects are not of my generation

@AbhasKumarSinha she's like Jennifer Connelly's Indian version.
@AbhasKumarSinha it's you're choice. yesterday Bali died today they might tread for Lanka I guess.

@dumbasarock I dun like modern ways of makeup that's too much straightened hair and too much gloss, I prefer old school style.
@dumbasarock Let's see.
@dumbasarock Game of Thrones had total 17mn viewership (worldwide) and Ramayana with 4 episodes have more than 170mn... (Indian TRP ratios)
@dumbasarock no... She doesn't even look closer to Jennifer, she has short hair and well shaped.

@AbhasKumarSinha well people watch it for values not spirituality so that's why it garners that much views
plus Indian audience is definitely not ready for GoT

3:37 PM
@dumbasarock I'm talking about Shaktimaan not Ramayana
^she's it

@AbhasKumarSinha I am talking about young Jennifer Connelly

@dumbasarock k... She's old too... now playing Grandmother's role in ye un dino ki baat hai

@dumbasarock What does 'watching for values not sprituality' mean?

@ACuriousMind it means anyone can watch it regardless of their religion

@ACuriousMind I'm talking about Shaktimaan not Ramayana

3:39 PM
they don't need to be Hindus to watch Ramayana
@AbhasKumarSinha I am talking about both.

@dumbasarock I guess he doesn't knows which one we are talking about.
No, I'm not Ramayana

I'm having a hard time coming up with anything where you'd need to be a believer of a particular religion to watch it
Though I guess recordings of ceremonies are not very relevant to any non-believers in the particular religion being celebrated

@ACuriousMind no, that's a superhero, religion and ramayana are different, they are broadcasted after shaktimaan

@ACuriousMind there are shows which are focused for specific religions
@AbhasKumarSinha he ain't talking about Shaktimaan

@ACuriousMind ah Ramayana? It's a mythological story about Hinduism, which has been recreated and shot like an episode and broadcasted during lockdown

3:41 PM
I know neither of the shows (?) you're talking about, I was just curious about the comment about sprituality

user434058
To anyone expecting my reply on the topic which I left so abruptly, please don't. I am dropping that thing right where I left it. Thank you!

@ACuriousMind Ramayana is mythological and Shaktimaan is fiction
@FakeMod take it easy

user434058
@ACuriousMind You might have heard of the epic Ramayana?

user434058
@AbhasKumarSinha as easy as it can be... :)

@FakeMod dropped it already

3:43 PM
@FakeMod k....

user434058
@dumbasarock Good Ok!

@AbhasKumarSinha post memes which everyone will understand

But e.g. I imagine plenty of Western non-Christians have watched some of the movies about stories from the Bible, so I don't immediately see why non-believers couldn't watch a movie about Ramayana
@AbhasKumarSinha Once again, English, please.

@ACuriousMind I'm a non believer, I can watch it because it's old and outdated, rest is okay... If you like you may watch it without any restrictions

user434058
@ACuriousMind You'd have to guess the caption :P

3:44 PM
@FakeMod :P

@ACuriousMind that's what I am saying
it's not something "religion specific"

Ramayana is not religion specific
@dumbasarock is that available online live with english subtitles?

@AbhasKumarSinha you don't know hindi ? or asking for someone else
it is available with subtitles, I had it
but I don't know where

@FakeMod googling suggests is means "very good" but in a sarcastic way. Is that correct?

@dumbasarock just asking... It's very hardcore pure ancient hindi.
