the 'primary loop' of the OS

7 hours later…
07:06
Ever seen the source code for Git itself? I kid you not, this is it --> http://t.co/6FrCuvR5dW
07:28
@MayeenulIslam: Thanks! :)
07:50
anyone used Timber in practice?

3 hours later…
10:57
Git in the PHPStorm console … just NO. Completely fucked up.
@Rarst no, but the routes implementation is intriguing..
@toscho yep.. not as good as i thought it should be
@toscho git is in general :) I only do commits via gui pretty much in there
@userabuser yeah, query_posts() all the things... :)
I use Git bash. Nice. Works.
@Rarst I use sourceTree 90% of the time, GitBash when I need some extra power...
@Rarst yeah I was kinda like "wtf" there.. :D
I am talking about templating at WordCamp Norway...
11:02
Twig?
all the things. theory, Mustache, Twig, Timber, Meadow
buzzword bingo?
yeah
11:46
wtf is up with this flexbox width calculations
same elements on different rows end up different result
12:15
@Rarst meadow? Would you suggest a template engine or not to use one?
I'd like to try using twig, but I dont want to implement every template twice in twig and mustache/handlebars
Meadow is my code for Twig in WP... it's complicated :) come watch talk
why twice?
because there's no twig for js?
well there's a twig.js but I dont think it's mature?
well, if you need to reuse templates on front end extensively yes. but building whole [complex] WP theme in Mustache is nightmare
Commented all the crappy questions yesterday. Thought I'd go take a look and see who responded what... nothing. Only one upvote ... on SO which seems to be my best answer ever :P

13:27
@Rarst It's certainly challenging :)
and WP's fault, not Mustache's
it's so nice that you aren't obliged to provide support there. just have mandatory support forum for your every plugin.
yes, but I can add negative tags to every plugin, and the plugin author cannot do anything about it.
I am being sarcastic.
13:33
my humor module just burned out :)
official forums do that, yes.
13:56
since when did humor work here?!
@Rarst do you know if timber supports composer?
@G.M. from quick look... meh-ly :)
14:16
@toscho as laudable as the desire/effort to funnel Plugin/Theme developers into the WPORG forums to provide Plugin/Theme support is, the effort will never truly be effective until the forum infrastructure better facilitates developers to moderate the support forums for their own Plugins/Themes.
good morning all
@ChipBennett by default a plugin developer doesn't even subscribe to their own "support forum"
like a father of a one-night-stand
@GhostToast indeed. The limitations are both infrastructural and philosophical, IMO
@GhostToast hehe
in fact i'm not certain how to subscribe to this until there are posts? wordpress.org/support/plugin/ghost-responsive-stages
14:36
@GhostToast see Developers tab
@GhostToast IIRC somewhere on the bottom left..
pretty sure i can't subscribe until there is a ticket/post
@GhostToast there's always the option for all support threads
for every plugin ever? no thanks
@GhostToast your own Plugin?
14:42
for your plugins, again - see developers tab
it's the Plugin committer feed
er: http://wordpress.org/support/rss/view/plugin-committer/chipbennett
fail
http://wordpress.org/support/rss/view/plugin-committer/{username}
erhm. was thinking more like email subscription
Something's pretty wrong with my windows install. Got Vagrant + Puppet in the %PATH% var, still nothing recognized...
Looks like only Git Bash is confused. Damn it.
14:56
i wish there was a plugin where one could simulate a user other than admin. would be useful for sites where roles are important
but, would be tricky because you'd literally be that user without having actually logged in...
there is. IIRC @Rarst has written one?
I didn't, the one above is staple
i guess i have 2 wishes remaining
@GhostToast perhaps something like blogtrottr.com?
@ChipBennett i appreciate the research, might look at later
15:36
hey guys, i'm new to chat.stackexchange and i got a generic wordpress question. Can i ask it here or should i create a room? thanks.
asking here is fine (when done in moderation :) however extensive stuff often belongs on main site first
ya, not so much a "room" as just a "question"
ok i'll try then. I got a wp_query on a custom post type and would like to display all infos related to those posts, like id, slug, title, related custom fields and taxonomies. Is that possible?
sure. get_queried_object() has lots of that in it, the rest will be found with get_post_custom()
look those up and you'll go far @kevin
thanks, will do!
15:42
might need get_the_terms() too for the taxonomy stuff
the first two are pretty broad, there are more specific, consumable variants of those functions as well. such as get_the_id(), get_the_title(), get_post_meta()
got interrogated on phone by LiquidWeb affiliate manager about referral, is GhostToast mob or something?
If you slipped and fell on the ice, who's fault is it? Your own fault? ... Or the owner of the company's parking-lot you slipped on?
@Rarst huh? for real?
yeah. well, it was friendly but they hadn't called me before about it :)
@MichaelEcklund usually property owner has insurance for that very reason
i told them to make sure you were taken care of. also i used my Godfather voice. just kidding.
15:51
Well, I know that but is that the right thing to do? Blaming your mistake on someone else?
he was mostly puzzled how I got you referred, which is kinda weird... I told him I have posted links publicly so whatever
i said stackoverflow network chat
you said it was personal VPS right? he said it was under some business
anyway, watever. dead money.
yea, Brain Alien Productions
it's a pity their shared sucks, $100 would last me a while :)
16:31
all shared hosting sucks
some sucks more than others. LiquidWeb one is good other than meh restriciton for number of sites
i have to migrate my clients away from hostgator reseller. hosting game is the worst money-pit because it feels like you could make money
16:43
I pestered SiteGround into fixing initial issues, works quite fine now :)

2 hours later…
what are the benefits :D
none
resume fodder?
nope, no one cares
wow wow how do you avoid getting nominated?
18:44
sleep tied to the bed so you don't accidentally
lock all devices with codes impervious to drunk you

@Rarst hater's gonna hate!
19:26
Wish balsamiq had more options to choose from
19:39
options as in?
Like buttons arrows etc
I know it's a mockup program and not photoshop, but still I feel like it's lacking just a bit, overall nice program though.
I love it when people start their lame excuses with Puts on moderator hat.
@Rarst. Yeah, I've seen that.
Are those configurable and resizable though?
@toscho don't kick Jan, he is nice dude, it's larger issues with wp org forums than people :)
@MichaelEcklund well, had you tried to configure and resize them? :)
19:45
then there is no need to argument with exaggerations
his style :) remember - they need to deal with more crap than us on worse platform over there
@Rarst that would be something I could accept. but telling me nonsense? no.
@toscho inwx.de has strange transfer process. assumes i or my current registrar have a nic.st account
@GhostToast isn’t that required to register a .st domain?
@toscho wasn't for me, I just used easyname.com and paid. i have an account with them but doubt that is the same
19:50
how can easyname.com register a domain without an account for nic.st?
anyway, ask the inwx support, they will find a way.
i question this as well
election is ON
so @Rarst and @toscho are you up for reconsideration or already tenured in?
we are trapped in this forever :( I thought it was for a year at first :(((
WPSE Moderators: The only way out is death!!!
20:06
yep. you lie down and carefully do nothing, and when you are dried to skeleton someone throws it out.

21:27
what about you @ChipBennett ?
ah. i think i found the page of applicants. but can't tell if its current or lifetime
21:48
that's old, no nominations in current election yet
22:22
I like how Otto got nominated, lol
I take that back - he was actually a lot more active than I thought. Just not so much recently.
@bosco no, you can only nominate yourself
I am not sure what that actually shows
@toscho ahhh
looks like all nomination from all elections
I don't think Otto ever nominated
that looks like it might be just grabbing top users or something
22:26
@Rarst and I don't remember being nominated
Nor scribu..
just look through previous elections, that page doesn't actually show nominations
@Rarst Is that talk going to be recorded?
no idea, I know some talks from Norway were in past ones
Alrighty - I'll keep an eye out.
you all are paying too much attention to my talks (whole two of them so far, counting Norway ahead of time), it's not like I am good at it :)
22:37
Heh - I'm just fairly clueless when it comes to template engines and the like. I have no idea where I land on the matter - I've heard good arguments for both sides, played with several engines, and written a couple tiny implementations, but I still feel like I can't make a solid educated decision when it comes to a new project. It's just always kind of "eh, let's try this and see what happens."
I'm not so interested in the structure of your presentation as I am the content of it and your takes on such matters (no offense to your ability to present :P)
oh well... I need to work on slides :\ much less time notice for this one, then waiting on visa stuff
23:24
@GhostToast I don't think it would be a good idea for me to have Mod privileges
